House of the Dragon (2022)
Just not as good
Nowhere near as enthralling or entertaining as GoT. So far, it's a mish-mash of "how many familiar GoT names can we toss out," battling against "how many families and characters can we throw at viewers, and let's not forget to do it at breakneck speed." Good lord, I don't watch TV with a notepad at hand so that I can take notes on who is who, or to sketch out family trees.
Add to that, half the characters are children so the actors playing them change every few episodes as the characters age.
Things finally got rolling partway through Ep8, but by that time I'd mostly lost interest.
All in all, I'd give HoD a solid 'meh'
I See You (2019)
What a load...
...of crap this crapfest is. I want my 1:38 back. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen....I'm still waiting....
Mystery!: Sherlock: The Abominable Bride (2016)
feminist claptrap
Good lord what a load of garbage. who watches Sherlock Holmes to have him tout how men ought to lose to women? I'm no kind of misogynist, but this is just 21st century, me-too garbage.
Impossible Monsters (2019)
Awful on so many levels
Jeez what a terrible waste of time. Note to the filmmakers: a crapton of spooky music does not a spooky movie make. What a crapfest. Please do not waste your time on this disjointed load of garbage.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Just bad and...
...uninteresting. Like some other reviewers, I'm beginning to wonder if IMDB ratings aren't just paid advertising. There's no way this mess deserves a 7+ rating. Unlikable characters, major plot holes, slooooow story... All in all, I just didn't care how the story ended...just was happy when it finally did.
The Witcher (2019)
Convoluted and confusing
Way too much going on, too many characters, too many story lines, not enough exposition on who is whom and what is what. I'm no dolt and enjoy complicated storylines, but this is a crap fest. I'm afraid I'm going to have to give up after episode 4. After four hours of storytelling, a competent director would have pulled us in to the story. Instead, I'm still waiting on something to make sense of it all.
The one saving grace is Henry Cavill. He rocks this role. I only wish the telling of the tale were as accomplished.
Scorched Earth (2018)
Don't waste your time
Bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, stupid story. Nothing worth seeing in this crap-fest.
Never Open the Door (2014)
Awful
If I could write the word "Awful" a thousand times, it still wouldn't be enough to describe this movie. I've seen better acting in middle school plays. I seen better stories written by 14 year old high school dropouts. And my dog waiting on me to feed him dinner is more suspenseful.
I'm considering putting together a class action suit so that I and all the others that lost an hour of their lives watching this crap can recoup the loss. To win, we'd only need show the movie to the court. The court could then take all that lost time from the movie producer/director/whatever and they'd die before creating anymore crap like this.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Way over the top
I wanted to like it....I really did. I like Keanu Reeves and I like action movies.
I understand that action movies exist in their own world; they don't follow real-world dictates. But c'mon! In John Wick's world, he's apparently the only man anywhere that can shoot straight. I wish someone would watch the movie again and count how many people Wick kills. I lost count at around 50 or 60. And that was early in the movie. I would venture to say it's well over 100, probably closer to 200. In this world of assassins, it would appear that he's the only one that's at all competent (think stormtroopers). At that point, it's no longer an action flick, it's a silly fantasy (and a terrible movie).
