The Final Call (2019)
Watch this for Neeraj Kaabi and Saakshi Tanvar
Though the plot has some glaring holes and loses continuity and logic at various points, this series is worth watching. Be prepared for a "ride" as the characters deal with the ongoing in their lives not realizing the futility. Neeraj Kaabi is exceptional. His lines are brilliantly written,I kept waiting for his scenes :). Saakshi Tanvar shows why she is a nuanced actress....hiding her grief to battle the situation at hand. Javed Jaffri makes you wonder through his cameo, whi he didnt get more acting roles :(...All in all a good attempt at trying to answer higher questions like...the purpose of life, death and all that goes on in the middle!
The Disciple (2020)
A slowburn not for everyone
This is my first review...Great cinema needs more voices supporting them through their reviews on IMDB. I watched "Court" which was released in 2014 and had been eagerly awaiting Chaitanya Tamhane to belt out another one in the same genre. A people story, without glamour. Where the characters don't shout out their situation but where you, as a viewer have to piece the puzzle yourself. There are no straight answers, its a buffet where your characters have a mix of traits and you pick and choose how you want to perceive them. The director only does his bit, keeps adding to the palette of each character. There is a sense of foreboding which keeps looming beyond each frame. Lot of cliches aptly dealt with..the master disciple relationship, jealousy and longing for recognition...passion and mediocrity and finally dedication vs submission to the "difficult to accept reality"...
Panchayat (2020)
Where the characters are real and story has a heart!
Amazing..simple stories of real India. Away from the glamor and maze of fake characters. This is a gem and I hope people appreciate such shows to encourage production houses to churn out quality content.
Sonchiriya (2019)
Amazingggggg!!!!
Its a classic. A tale of unseeming heroes looking for deliverance set in the backdrop of the barren punishing ravines of chambal. The director has got the best out of Manoj Bajpai, Ranveer Shorey and Sushant. Ashutosh Rane is back with a vengeance, though he could have done with a meatier role.Bhumi P has a strong supporting role. The pace is on low simmer with copius amounts of violence and mature/disturbing themes. Not for the faint hearted.. If you like the taste of India from its hinterland with all the crassness which comes with it.
