The Spirit (2008)
This is for Muffin
The Spirit
This is for muffin!
I feel compelled to give my thoughts on this 'film' after viewing it this evening. Frank Miller clearly needs to realize that the nice slick visuals previously seen in Sin City will not hold the film up on its own. I really badly wanted to like this film as I am a fan of Millers work in comics, but really this is just a poor film. I am not familiar of The Spirit as a comic franchise and nor do I want to be after viewing the film, the dialogue was so epically bad not even Samuel L Jackson could make it work. The acting was
meh, at best. Although I will say Gabriel Macht comes across as somebody who will have a decent future ahead of him.
In conclusion a HUGE let down and I wish I hadn't wasted my money, even Eva Mendes arse isn't worth putting up with the rest of the film.
King of the Ring (2001)
Great Event
King of the Ring 2001
My Muscles Ache. My Mind is Spent. My Body is Broken. Lead Me To My Throne.
Best King of the Ring ever and finally Edge is set on his road to Greatness.
KOTR Semi-Final: Kurt Angle defeated Christian
Good match with both giving it their all
KOTR Semi-Final: Edge defeated Rhyno
Again a good match with both giving it their all and setting up a fantastic final
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) defeated Kane and Spike Dudley to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship
Nice twist having Kane as Spikes mystery partner and a good match to go with it better than expected.
KOTR Final: Edge defeated Kurt Angle to win the King of the Ring tournament
Good match with Shane McMahon helping Edge pick up the victory and getting more build up to the Angle Vs Shane Match
Jeff Hardy defeated X-Pac to retain the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship
I'm not X-Pac's biggest fan whilst he's a Heel but this was a good match and gave us all a further insight to Jeff Hardys potential as a singles competitor
Kurt Angle defeated Shane McMahon in a Street Fight
Absolutely brutal match with Shane taking some nasty bumps, you couldn't even tell Kurt had wrestled two other matches
Steve Austin defeated Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit in a Triple Threat match to retain the WWF Championship
Good match which saw Austins dominance of the WWF continue, great interference from Booker T to get the InVasion rolling
Overall a good PPV with a new king and a brutal Street Fight for highlights
WrestleMania X-Seven (2001)
Greatest event ever
Wrestlemania X-Seven
The end to the Attitude Era and what a way to end!
Chris Jericho defeated William Regal to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship A great opener and a good start to the rivalry, one of Regals best Matches.
Tazz and The APA (Bradshaw and Faarooq) (w/Jacqueline) defeated Right to Censor (The Goodfather, Val Venis and Bull Buchanan) (w/ Steven Richards) This match was short and sweet and we finally saw the RTC get brought down.
Kane defeated Raven (c) and The Big Show in a Triple Threat Hardcore Match to win the WWF Hardcore Championship Absolutely brilliant easily, Ravens best match in the WWF.
Eddie Guerrero (w/ Perry Saturn) defeated Test to win the WWF European Championship A good match where both men brought out the best in one another and we saw a typical Eddie Cheating to win.
Kurt Angle defeated Chris Benoit Great technical wrestling from two of the best.
Chyna defeated Ivory to win the WWF Women's Championship Okay it was never going to be a classic but it was great to see Chyna get revenge on Ivory, which for those who had followed their rivalry was great.
Shane McMahon defeated Vince McMahon (w/Mick Foley as special guest referee) in a Street Fight Father vs Son and a climatic battle that had great highlights and got us warmed up for the InVasion
Edge and Christian defeated The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) (c) and The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff) in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match to win the WWF Tag Team Championship Equally as great as the first many great spots and the added bonus of interference from Rhyno, Spike and Lita
The Iron Sheik won a Gimmick Battle Royal featuring: Bushwhacker Luke, Bushwhacker Butch, Duke Droese, Doink the Clown, Nikolai Volkoff, Tugboat, The Goon, Earthquake, Gobbledygooker, Hillbilly Jim, Brother Love, Michael Hayes, One Man Gang, Kamala, Jim Cornette, Repo Man, and Sgt. Slaughter.
Short and sweet it was as it said a gimmick, great to hear Bobby Heenan and Mean Gene doing the commentary
The Undertaker defeated Triple H A brilliant match which was taken right into the crowd and saw Triple H nearly end the streak.
Steve Austin defeated The Rock in a No Disqualification match to win the WWF Championship WOW!! Is the best and only way to describe this match, it really shows how great Austin and The Rock worked together. The ending is one that will be remembered for a long time.
Overall this was just simply great and can be talked about for years as the perfect end to the Attitude Era.
WWE Bad Blood (2004)
Well I Enjoyed It
I have heard bad things about this PPV in reviews and my mate even said it wasn't good when i picked it up. But i guess i depends on what your looking for in a WWE PPV.
Match 1 - Chris Benoit and Edge defeated World Tag Team Champions La Résistance (Sylvain Grenier and Robért Conway) by disqualification 5/10 Not a bad opener, it would have been nice to see Benoit win but never mind.
Match 2 - Chris Jericho defeated Tyson Tomko (w/Trish Stratus) 5/10 Not great but not that bad. It was Nice to see Jericho win but i would have preferred to have seen it against Christian
Match 3 - Randy Orton defeated Shelton Benjamin to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship 7/10 Pretty Good match. These two work well together in the ring hopefully they'll have a rivalry in the future but for the WWE Championship.
Match 4 - Trish Stratus (w/Tyson Tomko) defeated Victoria (c), Lita and Gail Kim in a Fatal Four-Way match to win the WWE Women's Championship 7/10 A lot better than most womens Matches is all I'll say.
Match 5 - Eugene defeated Jonathan Coachman 6/10 This was good for the entertainment value, I'll be the first to say i'm not Eugenes biggest fan but even the crowd were getting into this one, though it should have been lower on the card
Match 6 - Chris Benoit defeated Kane to retain the World Heavyweight Championship 9/10 One of Kanes best match IMO, Benoit as always is on top form. Its matches like this that make me wonder why hes not been World Champion again.
Match 7 - Triple H defeated Shawn Michaels in a Hell in a Cell match 9.5/10 This was the reason i wanted to see this PPV to see these two in a Hell in a Cell, I'd have given it 10/10 if Michaels had won, cause IMO Triple H won to many of their match during the two year rivalry, however this was a good match and I Really Enjoyed it, and Okay they didn't go out of the cell but IMO they don't always have to in a Hell in a Cell match cause WWE will never recreate the King of the Ring 98 one.
overall 9/10 i watch wrestling for the entertainment and if your the same i recommend this one to you
Scarface (1983)
Work Of Art
This was the first Al Pacino Film I Watched and it has Permanently made me addicted to the mans films. The has endless amounts of great acting and brilliant scenes, Pacinos accent is fabulous and I admire his dedication to a film project to be able to produce Tony Montana on the screen with this accent. The Chainsaw scene is particularly brilliant with making it so gory yet not really showing any think it is a mixture of sounds and blood spraying that makes this an excellent scene. Overall this film has become a fantastic thrill for me to experience and I recommend this with a ten out of ten or one hundred per cent either way one hell of a good film.
