SPOOFS---There are multiple movies that happened to have been released years ago, but the series actually has some CATCHING UP to do, because there has been a lot of good and bad horror movies throughout the decade, and it has to be done the RIGHT WAY. Hell, Scary Movie 1 parodied Scream which was out in 1996, and 2 parodied the Exorcist which came out DECADES prior to it: -Scream 4 (2011) [Only to bring back Gail, Doofy/Ghostface, poke fun at the remake/reboot trend and take the series back to its roots. They should go back to Steveston County like Sidney did in Scream 4. Plus, Scary Movie 5 had a chance to spoof that since it was a parody of movies that came out in 2010-2013, but it didn't] -The Conjuring (2013) [just for Annabelle references] -Get Out (2017) [portions of it should blend in with the Us parody] -IT (2017) [partially main parody] -Happy Death Day (2017) [Have Doofy dress up as Baby Face] -Hereditary (2018) [minor parody] -Halloween (2018) [Somebody must dress up as Michael Myers] -Happy Death Day 2U (2019) -Us (2019) [main parody] -Pet Semetary (2019) [partially main parody] -Ma (2019) [minor parody/Brenda should have the same hairstyle as Octavia Spencer] -Child's Play (2019) [Cindy's son discovers a Chucky doll which comes to life] -Annabelle Comes Home (2019) [Cindy's son discovers an Annabelle doll which haunts the house] -IT Chapter Two (2019)
Rated: R for strong language, crude and sexual humor throughout, marijuana use, violence, blood and gore.
Story: 14 years passed after the events of the fourth film, and it is set almost 20 years after the original film. Cindy, Tom, Brenda, Ray and their teenage children travel to the outskirts of Stevenson County (setting of the original film) with Shorty, Mahalik, and CJ for summer vacation. They stay at a house which is near a pet semetary where Cindy's son would have to bury his red eyed rabbit in. That same house had two dolls which were Chucky and Annabelle staying in the basement, which Brenda's son would try to sell. Cindy and Brenda deal with dopplegangers and strange flashbacks in that house, and that town. Meanwhile, the teens find themselves being stalked by Pennywise, and Michael Myers after an encounter with Doofy, married to Gail, who "reboots" his murders as Baby Face. Buffy, who was alive all along after her talking head was stitched to her body, was the one who was dressed as Ghostface, "rebooting" the Steveston County Massacre that four months short of the 20th anniversary.
-As a callback to the first film, Doofy's motive for killing Drew Decker 20 years back should be revealed. -Buffy, who "died" in the first film, would be alive and well, with her head stitched to her neck, but the one dressed up as Ghostface, and plotting to kill Cindy after killing people throughout town. Buffy's motive should be that she was jealous of her. Doofy, sheriff, would be dressed as Baby Face, and he would be in on it, alongside Affion Crockett dressed up as Michael Myers, and Gary Owen dressed as Pennywise as a practical joke to scare teenagers out of town. -Gail Hailstorm-Gilmore should be having "writers block", and she was forced to make false reports of children disappearing after hearing that Cindy, Brenda, Ray, and Shorty would be returning to town for a while. -Cindy's son should be a parody of Bill from IT. -Brenda's son should be a parody of Eddie/Mike from IT, and the kids from Us -George should be in a flashback. -Tom Ryan should be in a flashback. -Ray should be married to Brenda, no longer sexually confused, well, just a little. -Shorty uses marijuana responsibly. -Cindy and Brenda should be stronger in this film.
If it were out between 2011-2014, Silas and Jamal could have been graduated Harvard and opened their marijuana dispensary. "Ivory" would have been their best seller..
But nooooo, Universal acted stupid about giving the sequel the greenlight. Then Universal and MTV went and F'd it all up.
The story should follow Kid N' Play as executive producers planning a baby shower during a summer for rapper Chris Harris and his wife Autumn. Meanwhile Kid, married to Veda, and has a teenage son Treyvon who wants to go to a party being thrown by his best friend Marc. Kid doesn't seem to mind, however Veda prefers Treyvon puts his homework assignment first. Then Kid goes behind Veda's back to tell Treyvon that he would only have a party if he would let him crash it and help him out while attending the baby shower on the same day. Kid and Play find themselves shuffling between a baby shower, a house party and a comeback.
Reviews
Coming 2 America (2021)
Overhyped, and there wasn't supposed to be a sequel.
This movie had soooooooo much hype over the last few months. It's good to see characters from the original movie come back, but this movie has been so corny, dry, cringey, and infested with played out corny jokes.
I wanted to like this movie, but this sequel just wasn't it.
Eddie Murphy and Arensio Hall vowed NOT to do a sequel. They should have listened to their instincts.
Such a waste.
I Got the Hook Up 2 (2019)
Terrible
In all honesty, I HIGHLY respect Master P, his cause for gentrification, entrepreneurship, and the fact that he and Romeo Miller invested in this film themselves without relying on any othee companies. Believe me, I TRULY respect that. BUT THIS MOVIE ITSELF....where to start?
Okay, at least AJ Johnson came back alongside Master P, John Witherspoon and Tom Lister Jr. But Tom Lister Jr.'s part was small and wasted in this film. AJ Johnson is not as funny in this film.
One of the problems I had with this film is that it is all over the place. The plot is nonexistent. I really had no idea what this film was really supposed to be about. They tried to fit so many concepts in one film. Like, you would think this film would be about a character who looks like a baby, or a fast food restaurant going out of business, or Blue's long lost son played by Fatboy SSE, or the phones, or this character trying to be a rapper, crazy policeman etc. There was this scene, which barely had anything to do with anything, with Black had a phone call from his ex girlfriend who was using emotional blackmail for him to get back with her. That's something I would see in the deleted scenes section of the DVD.
There were way too many people in this film. Like, you have well known actors/actresses, social media stars who were trying -- I repeat: TRYING -- to be funny, but were stale, and there were people who were trying to get their big break.
The film had corny and horrible jokes, there was absolutely no plot, it seems like you're watching a rough cut of a movie, and like the first film, they make it seem like a Friday film. You have Michael Blackson and Clifton Powell in this film.
DC Young Fly was in this sequel, he tried.
I apologize for this coming off as a rant, but it is embarrassing and very insulting that it took until 2017 to write this sequel, July 2018 to shoot this sequel, September 2018 to start post production, then July 2019 to release this sequel in few movie theaters and Video on Demand and it turns out to be an overhyped overrated THROWN TOGETHER piece of trash.
This sequel came out 21 years after the original and it's all sloppy. It's like I was watching an early rough cut or a rough draft of a film before scenes got cut and/or reshot. They tried so hard to make this film funny. When you TRY to be funny, then you won't be funny. It's supposed to be natural.
This sequel, and that so-called sequel of How High, has really got me thinking "Should they still make Friday 4 or just move on?".
I'm really worried for Friday 4 at this point since it's been nearly 17 years since the third film has been released, and I love the first 3 movies.
It's like:
*Madea Family Funeral comes out, with recycled jokes*
"Still want Last Friday?"
Yes.
*How High 2 comes out as a horrible unfunny mediocre straight to MTV film without Redman or Method Man*
"Still want Last Friday?"
Yes, as long as it doesn't end up like How High 2.
*I Got The Hook Up 2 comes out as an unfunny thrown together quote-on-quote masterpiece which tried to fit so many people and concepts in one film and tried to be like a Friday film*
"Still want Last Friday?"
*refraining from losing faith and hope*...Will it happen? Will it be funny? Will it be good? Will it have a good story? Will it have the original cast? We've been let down this year.
But back to this I Got The Hook Up 2 atrocity. I have nothing against Master P, the first I Got the Hook Up was fine and I liked Repos. But the writing in this was awful, the editing was lazy. There was a shot that was REUSED in the beginning of this film. The production value and the causes were good. But this flick we got was a convoluted mess, it made no sense, there was overacting, mediocre acting, bad jokes, corny jokes, etc.
This is what happens when a sequel to a hit movie that the audiences love takes too long to get greenlit.
How High 2 (2019)
Waiting years for this movie was like waiting hours for food that ended up tasting nasty.
I will start out by saying this is a straight to TV movie.
The original "How High", starring Redman and Method Man, was about two stoners going to Harvard smoking pot laced with a dead friend's ashes, meanwhile an evil dean wanted them out. That film is hilarious.
But this film here, starring Lil' Yachty and DC Young Fly, is about two young stoners looking for their missing weed...I'm not even gonna waste time talking about the story.
Universal took too long to greenlight a sequel, but they kept hiring people who wrote bad scripts (according to Redman and Method Man), and they were very cheap with the film. Universal carelessly--I repeat CARELESSLY--decided to work with MTV, BS the script, cast a mumble rapper, throw in DC Young Fly and several different people, and release it as a straight to TV movie. Universal made this movie to shut fans up.
There were a few decent moments in the film, few giggles, but that's not saying much for the film. Mike Epps made an appearance as Baby Powder, with a wig, but that didn't cut it. Al Sherear came back, but now called I Got Money, for 2 seconds. However there were boring scenes and corny scenes. The scene where the main characters pretended to chaperone a high school field trip and discover a suspicious character who ended up stealing the weed bored me to death.
This movie is horrible, the CGI is lazily done, the plot is weak, this film was all kinds of bad. Universal just sat on this movie for over a decade, they defecated on it, let it sit at a window for a week, then rinsed it, microwaved it, and went "You got your movie. Happy?" This film rubbed me the wrong way.
If you love the original How High film that much, just avoid wasting your time watching this movie. Period.
Scary Movie (2000)
Scary Movie
This is my favorite 2000 movie of all time. It's hilarious.
This movie spoofed my favorite horror films "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer". The Wayans Brothers did a good job putting those two movies in one story line.
This film is about a group of teenagers finding themselves being stalked by a masked killer one year after an accidental murder.
It stars Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Shannon Elizabeth, Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Dave Sheridan, Kurt Fuller and Carmen Electra.
This horror-comedy is my favorite film of all time.
