Transylvania (2006)
good movie with bad stereotypes
I liked this movie, but problem is, that I really did not know anything about Transylvania, so as some Romanians are worried, it is true, that from my point of view I thought that Transylvania is full of gypsies, poverty, orphans etc.
I know how people who live in Romania can feel when they are wrongfully depicted in a movie. Every Hollywood film which is filmed in Prague, Czech Republic (where I live) is full of Czech people with Russian accent (Czech and Russian language (and pronunciation) are VERY different). Czechs in these films have polar Russian hats (only drunken tourists from U.K. wear them) and are depicted in movies like complete idiots who drink vodka. I guess that it is easier to depict nations with stereotypes, but violent russification of Czechoslovakia started with "iron curtain" after WW2 and second phase was in year 1968 when Russian tanks entered Prague. Let me assure you, that we did not want any Asiats with tanks in here. After WW1, when Europe became continent full of dictatorships regimes (Italy,Spain,German), we were one of a few countries with democratic regime.
Sorry for lecturing about Czech republic, but I only mentioned it to show, how Romanians can be pi**ed off by Romanian stereotypes.
Panic je nanic (2006)
Worst teenage film ever...
Well this film just tries to copy its more successful predecessor - Snowboardáci. Snowboardaci was not good film either, but it was first of a kind in Czech Republic, which means new, surprising and it made a great success. Reason of the Snowboardaci success was (apart from "Panic je na nic" = translation of the title would be something like "Virgin sucks") fact, that good and known actors played in it.
The story of Panic je na nic is kinda same as all "teenage" films are... bunch of guys who want to lose their "virginity"... Hm, what a NEW IDEA :o).
So this film repeats all the well-known clichés, but is not funny at all. Total amateur actors who were appereantly picked up on the streets by a blind casting staff are making this bad film even worse. The only known "star" in this film is árka Vanková, which took a part in "Czech Republic is looking for a SuperStar" (the same licensed show as American Idol, but in Czech Republic with another name). Well, Vanková maybe can sing (seriously she can not), but her acting is totally out of a mind. She only giggles, smiles and makes seductive looks... What a great acting! Yes, this is ironic.
Finally in the end all the guys "score" but only with one girl - previously mentioned árka Vanková. And there is some kind of "penis-measurment-joke" which wasn't funny at all and when Vanková says to one guy "Don't worry, next year we will measure bigger one", you can only stare at this insane script.
In the conclusion, makers of this film should think twice before throwing their money in the garbage can, because this film gave the word "bad" new meaning. Jokes are not funny (only actors in the film are laughing, but it is not funny), actors are terrible and the whole plot is so worn-out, that it is not even true, that someone could shot movie like this...
Well, maybe audience without a brain who never saw any film would be entertained, but I don't know anyone who will meet these conditions...
