Halloween Ends (2022)
Halloween Ends (Badly)
What a tragic way to end what should have been good trilogy. I am a massive fan of the franchise, even the film's we would rather forget about, I quite enjoyed in an ironic way.
I really think if the franchise had introduced Corey in the 1st installment and gradually showed more of him as he went insane and we could question if it was Michael or him killing, That could've worked and been quite cool. This film however feels rushed, the plot jilted and haphazard. And (I time checked) we didn't see MM until nearly 50 minutes into the film and he didn't even do most of the killing.
The only thing done right in this film is the end. Halloween truly has ended with MM as the main villain. Such a wasted opportunity.
Day of the Dead (2021)
Not that bad
I really don't get why this is getting hate. It doesn't take itself to serious and I have chuckled at a few parts. Ok it's not exactly Romeros DOTD which I'm a huge fan of but it is ok.
Resident Evil (2022)
Hardest people to please are the fans.
Like all Sci-fi and horror franchises, the die hard fans are three hardest to please... Dr Who being a prime example. Back to RE though. The show is well thought out, slightly predictable(likes the games) and has kept me hooked throughout.
I'd it perfect? Of course not. That would be closer to impossible unless they made a direct film to the game. But it has a lot of nods to the games which is enough for me.
Chucky (2021)
Definitely worth a watch
It's a bit cliche in parts and some characters are over obvious but it's still a good watch! More often than not you find yourself routing for Chucky. It's quite funny in places too.
Give it a go!
Wrong Turn (2021)
Solid film
Ok, so we're not talking deformed cannibals so from the original it's a bit different but in my opinion it was fantastic.
Lisey's Story (2021)
The best adaptation of kings work
I will start by saying I'm glad I have read the book first. Kings novels rarely translate very well onto screen as the tension he builds in his story telling is drawn out well over a long book.
The teleplay for this was written by King himself and so far I think they have all done a good job of bringing it to life.
I also think it is a much better attempt than what was made of The Stand.
If you haven't read the novel, I can imagine this would be a hard watch.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Don't waste your time
The film started out great. Character development was good. Some really tense moments where your left wondering what is going to happen. And then the ending. Wow. I have had some let downs with past films but this was so crap. No tension or fear when the truth was revealed. Just such a terrible ending.
The Stand (2020)
No where near as bad as other reviews say.
I came into this series with an open mind. Generally very few of Stephen Kings books translate well to screen. Misery was one of the golden ones as was Geralds Game and The Tommy knockers.
I will start by saying I can see why the die hard fans of the novel are offended. I would've preferred the show to follow the same format as the book but, if you haven't attempted to read it or have given up trying, then the show would fall flat too.
The novel is a hard slog, granted it's an absolute epic of a story and really well planned out and is great how the separate paths of each character cross and diverge, but it's really looking. I genuinely think that the modern viewer would tire of the building of the story with out any pay off for at least the first 5-6 episodes as I think even then Boulder would still be a long time coming.
The choice of actors has been a bone of contention for some. I like they have kept Amber Heard as tbh the Character of Nadine is one to be liked anyway. James Marsden is a good choice too as Alexander Skarsgard is the person I imagined as The Dark Man. Whoopi makes a good Mother Abigail even though my choice would still be a lovely lady I have known a long time, but she is not a actor lol.
So far I am enjoying the show. I'll update if this changes.
Overall I'd say, Give it a chance.
The Babysitter (2017)
Brilliant
This film is brilliant. Made me laugh, had some cliches and was totally enjoyable.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Not Bram Stokers
Where to start? The plot does follow similarly to the book, however, none of the characters are like that that Bram Stoker tried to create. Van Helsing although a great casting of Anthony Hopkins and if ever remade should definitely be considered again for the role. Was quite simply nothing how the book portrayed him. Mina?! Oh dear, oh dear! She was never in love with this monkey bat beast and was forced to drink Draculas Blood, she played a massive role in the book and really was the Heroine. None of the other characters were built upon so no emotional investment could be made into them. Dracula appeared very little I the Literature Classic and instead characters were developed instead. It's an absolute crying shame that the 2hrs 17mins weren't used better.
If any book and film needs a remake it's this. If only to do Bram Stokers work more justice it deserved.
