Komt een vrouw bij de dokter (2009)
Realistic, honest and captivating movie about the true inner aspects of a married couple's life
No one is perfect, and no married couple can claim to even come close. This movie deals exactly with that - two people fall in love, believe they've met 'the one' and get married. After that they need to deal with life and with each other - his character, her medical condition for example. Each of us deals with problems/issues in his life in a different way. Most of us aren't completely good or bad, we simply try to cope with items life/fate/God lands on us. The same goes with the 2 main characters of the movie. It was extremely hard for me to identify with any one of them due to their character and reactions to the other and everything around, but it was extremely easy to imagine how those things are possible - and who of my friends belong to each type. The movie is realistic, sincere and shines a bright light on what lies beneath almost every marriage. Nothing is static, and the main characters evolve and change while having to cope - with life and each other. I found the movie captivating - definitely it could happen to any of us, and I'm waiting to see it again on Blu-Ray/DVD.
Evening (2007)
an enriching and moving experience
Slowly, frame by frame, a dying woman's long and rich life reveals itself to the attentive viewers. We gradually get acquainted with her initial hopes, her fears, her dreams and future questions about life. Some of them got answered by the developing events, some of them remained apparently unanswered - till an old time friend appears and casually makes some remarks, but in the end - a wise glimpse through life is provided to the sensible and intrigued eye. A wonderful story and script, delicately filmed and wisely edited, skilfully acted with precise dialogues and heart-touching cinematography. An enriching movie experience, a truly gift for every son and daughter missing a beloved departed parent or not quite sure how to maintain a problematic yet meaningful relationship with an elder one, and (even more important) a sensitive, charming and wise movie which may provide answers to an eternal quest - how to choose, and not regret it. I am so glad I could watch it and fully enjoy its meanings, its scenes and message. I truly believe it helps getting a present - and future - closure, both with your own life and destiny, and with your beloved ones. To me, it's a piece de resistance.

Interesting and nostalgic Russian film
Interesting movie, presenting a glimpse into another culture, undergoing massive changes, affecting everyone. Nostalgic, for it presents scenes from our past - cars, home interiors, different appliances. Nostalgic, for the lucky ones among us have been brought up with the aid of a grandma/grandpa - and we miss them a lot now. And of course - Russian - the view, the snow, the music and the people - such a great country, such a powerful life! I enjoyed the film for all possible reasons, it moved and stirred a lot. IMHO - especially for over 30s, for we all remember who helped and loved us in our upbringing years, and feel so lonely without them. It offered me a strange view into so many souls, all so common to our own.
