Unforgotten: Episode #5.1 (2023)
Thought this started well
The loss of Cassie was a real problem. I was impressed that the writers didn't just try to replace her. The new DC! Is totally different and causes a lot of friction in the unit. Which creates a very different atmosphere but keeps things interesting. So I was hoping this would continue to be a series I could really enjoy.
But politics started to intrude with subtle off-hand references to austerity in the early episodes. And, of course, there's the introduction of the evil Tory MP. By episode 6 politics has completely taken over. The Tory MP has a black daughter who proceeds to subject us to a screed on privilege and reparations, if you can believe it. Well, at that point I turned it off and didn't watch the conclusion.
I may try season 6 but it will be deep sixed at the first hint of a political agenda.
Memento (2000)
Can't believe I wasted 40 minutes on this
This movie is incredibly boring. I wasted 40 mins and finally turned it off. Keeps switching between present (?) and past and you can't figure out what's real and what's not. And you know what, I didn't care. Because it was just not interesting. Didn't care about the characters and didn't care about the plot. My recommendation, don't waste your time.
Surely you have better things to do. Like washing the dishes. Lord knows that would be more interesting. I guess this gets such great reviews because it's incomprehensible. So people think it must be great art. Sorry, I don't buy it. It's boring and has nothing important to say about anything.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Rather watch paint dry
At least you wouldn't be disappointed that nothing happens. I have no idea what this movie is about. But it's a dreadfully boring waste of 2 hrs. Can't understand what movie the positive reviewers were watching.
Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)
Boring and tedious
Don't understand why some people think this is suspenseful. You know from the get go that Komono was killed and who did it. What you don't know is why Tracy cares. And it's not worth the 81 minute wait to find out.
I'm afraid this film is just another excuse for Hollywood to demonstrate it's superiority over racist small town America. It's a sermon. And a boring one at that.
The only thing that surprised me is how "blame America" Hollywood could be in 1955, only ten years after the war.
Not much has changed in the 50 years since.
