The Veil (2024)
Not worth it
Elizabeth Moss must have not been able to decide who her character was and/or what she was supposed to do because she practically giggled, joked, and winked through what could have been a pretty dangerous situation and required some seriousness on her part. If she was channeling a cocky James Bond type, it didn't work. And couldn't they have found a British actress? Her accent was horrible. I made it through the first episode and thought maybe the second one would get better, but alas it was equally disappointing, so I quit. I gave it two stars because the French actress was pretty good, considering the material she had to work with.
Your Honor (2020)
Haters nearly killed it for me
Come on. Terrible? Not so. It's a classic suspense story of one bad decision leading to disastrous consequences that keep piling up. You keep hoping somehow it can get resolved, all the while good people keep digging themselves in deeper. Bryan Cranston does a great job of a desperate parent who compromises his ethics for his son's mistake. The kid is probably not the greatest casting choice, but he doesn't ruin it. It's filled with tension, I couldn't see what was coming next, and I found myself yelling at them. I wasn't bored, for sure, and I'm down to just about three or four episodes to go and looking forward to them. After all the negative reviews, I thought I wouldn't give it a try, but I'm glad I did.
Away (2020)
So disappointing
If anyone involved with this series had bothered to consult with an astronaut, it could have been at least more realistic. I doubt very seriously that female astronauts look like they just left a makeup artist's station with perfect foundation, rosy cheeks and dewy lips, which was the first thing that put me off, the other being long, shiny hair when there was no water. And Hillary, the commander, crying that she should be home! It made me squirm, embarrassed for them, hoping no real astronauts were watching.
