Margaret (2011)
Everything went wrong, from start to finish.
I really have no idea what this film is about, not to be sexist, but this movie is about slating on men.
First it was that nice classmate of Lisa who was toyed by her, then she did something that probably 10% of the girls in the modern world has done - presenting their virginity to someone who doesn't care about them(not that virginity is something big anyway, it was just plain stupidity).
Then Matt Damon, despite starting off as the best teacher and a perfect role model, got seduced by her, just by saying a few common phrases.
All of these part could be removed and not interfere with the main story, but I guess it was just a way to show the naive side of Lisa, to be honest, it didn't work very well to me.
The story itself was a disaster because she was the one who indirectly caused this tragedy that nobody wanted it to happen. I have no idea why she's playing the innocent party and trying everything to ruin someone's life who is just as innocent as her(maybe more).
Punishment she says, if the bus driver was to be sacked, shouldn't she be doing at least 300 hours of community service? She didn't get any punishment appropriate for her age, she just goes on and poison the society with her venom, doing whatever she wants and thinks that everything has to go her way.
I don't even want to talk about her mother's love story with a fan, it's totally meaningless. If that was to emphasis that Lisa had a terrible family, I think it could be done without being in the middle of the story.
The part where she went to tell her teacher about her abortion is just out of the blue and had no impact at all for the ending.
Conclusion:
This movie is a train-wreck and unless you have 72 hours/day, don't even waste a minute on it, this is coming from a huge Matt Damon fan, and I do not like this movie one bit, the only reason I watched the whole movie was because I was hoping for a good ending or some sort since I did not expect a movie with 2 Oscar awards and having Matt Damon in it could be so horrible.
K-11 (2012)
Not great, but not bad.
There will be people hating on this film because of various reasons, but I loved the story, even though it could have been much much better, I'd say this is rather rushed, but I wouldn't say it's bad. This homosexual prison camp never came across my mind, at least it doesn't seem to exist in my country.
I looked up Doubleday's filmography and found this movie, at first I wasn't expecting much from her but I must say her role as Butterfly is really really fabulous, same for Visnjic, although I think he'd have done better with his emotions.
If you have spare time, it wouldn't hurt to check this out as it is a rather different experience with other films.
The Bourne Identity (2002)
Hoping for a 4th Bourne series.
Realistic, thrilling, fast-paced, deadly, but on top of all, he needed luck to be on his side in order to solve his own puzzle, whoever wrote the script deserves praise just as much as Matt Damon.
This film/series should have its own genre, call it 'realistic thriller' if you'd like, because it just doesn't do it justice by putting it in the same category as films like James Bond, there's no unneeded characters in the whole series, no unneeded love scenes - which is the most unnecessary thing in a thriller/spy movie.
The thing I love the most about this film/series is that the background music is absolutely flawless, to maintain the same level of excitement(if not more) with that same tune in the theme music for 3 movies, is simply brilliant, it brings the movie to the next level.
People who are lazy to think, lazy to listen to every word, or simply just trying to watch some stuns or cool computer effects, will be disappointed because this movie is nothing like that. So don't watch it and call it bad just because you are not good enough for a movie that is a class above all the rest you've ever seen.
