The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Reunion (2020)
Now this is a reunion
As a show, I love Friends way more than Fresh Prince, which is not to say that I haven't had great moments watching it growing up. But when it comes to reunions, this takes the crown. All that felt forced and unnatural in the Friends reunion is the opposite here.
They seem to remember each moment, scene and line from 30 years ago as if it were last year and you could feel sincerity in the tears shed by them, unlike the Friends cast which hardly remembered even what happened in some classic episodes and felt like we're just emotional on cue.
Even if you didn't love this show it will feel warm in the heart to see how their relationship really resembles a family (even with the very powerful reconciliation between long estranged ones) and the "in memoriian " to James Avery.
Black Widow (2021)
So good to be back to the theaters for a good movie
This was the 4th movie I saw in a theater since the pandemic began and it was the only one I actually enjoyed. Thanks Marvel, we've missed you.
Although packed with CGI and unrealistic chasing/fighting scenes typical of Marvel movies, it's tone is more of a spy movie -like a 007 or Bourne- than a super hero movie and that was a good change of pace.
I agree with some reviewers that, amid the whole MCU saga it may feel pointless since it almost doesn't connect to anything- the post credit scene being most important in that aspect than the whole movie- and the character is already dead "presently" so it may feel hard to really care about the story. But as a stand alone action spy movie it works pretty well.
F9 (2021)
Preposterous...
First let me say I don't follow the Fast saga so I didn't know what to expect of this, yet I was still surprise at how bad it was. I know all about the whole suspense of disbelief thing, but this was ridiculous. The only good scene here was when one of the characters makes a joke about them being immortals, it shows that even they know how stupid this is. The car in space was definitely the last draw for me.
I'm giving it 2 stars because it actually made me laugh a lot, though I don't believe that was intentional.
