Boat Story (2023)
Poor man's Fargo
I am positivelly surprised that an English drama could be somewhat fun to watch. I mean if you don't question or criticize everything happening and enjoy the show then it's really great. The characters are colorful but perhaps a little unrealistically swing from romantic to violent. Apart from some unreasonably inserted theatrical replays or whatever they were, which you can easily avoid by fast forwarding it's not a disappointing show really.
Yes in the absence of quality tv shows this can be a weekends fun if you watch all episodes at once. It's an English show at the end of the day so don't be so harsh.
Çekiç ve Gül: Bir Behzat Ç. Hikayesi (2022)
Can't get any better
It's about Ankara police homicide detective Behzat Ç. Taking on a new case with some characters of the team that we know from the previous seasons.
It's a masterpiece full of sarcastic Ankara slang spoken in the most impressive fashion like a dark poetry. Sadly through subtitles or translation it might not conduct the same effect to the non-native viewers.
Natural acting as always, Erdal Besikçioglu is born to be Behzat Ç.
Screenplay is great as well. Involved mystery, crime and comedy ingredients are so well balanced. The interrogation room one sided mirror scene in the first episode made me cry.
Whatever your genre is, you should give this Behzat Ç. A try.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Ahead of Bruce Willis
It's a clever move to make fun of yourself before you officially suck for the rest of your professional life. It's exactly the proper way to approach the Z generation in the clouds with silly things like this. OK now that you have a masterpiece you can retire.
Dual (2022)
Kind of Lobster
I just downloaded and started watching without caring about the actors or the director. After a few minutes, i had to check if the director was Yorgos Lanthimos. It has the same taste with the Lobster movie. Stupid flat characters; normal modern emotions like plastic compassion are replaced with brutal honesty yielding absurd behaviours of the characters. At least for a while, i would even wish to live in such a world with people like this around me.
So i kept smiling and watched it all the way to the end and had fun. Definitelly not for everyone but if you are the one then you will like it as this is a rare genre. I even don't know what genre this is.
The Cleaning Lady (2022)
Smells like a new Breaking Bad
I have just watched the first episode and it seems to have a great potentital to be the next Breaking Bad. I mean the DOP work and script and the slope of things escalating in that direction. I hope they keep up with this pace in future episodes.
Settlers (2021)
A good movie about three stupid people
It reminds me some western movies full of desperation. In this one people take wrong decisions.
We are not fed with a silver spoon but expected to understand the current ambiance and it's possible consequences. Things happen in such a future time that both in Earth and Mars things had gone awry. There's been wars or some major scale disasters destroying the infrastructure for mankind to survive. Things happen at a remote corner of Mars what was once used to be a nice farm.
It unnecessarily turns out to be a dog eat dog situation but what happens next..?
The Seance (2021)
All fine until towards the end
So i like low budget single location movies those come with a good script. So this one started fine and surprisingly developed fine too. The dialogues among the two charcters were OK. It was full of suspense. Impossible to guess if it's a cheap scam or something paranormal going on there. You cant side with one of the characters. Then the time comes to reveal the truth and the quality suddenly shrinks down to dark ride level. I mean come on.
Katla (2021)
A Shakespearan Tale
The story is original and very interesting in the sense of embracing the very human spirit. There are a few aspects of it hose one might question but overall it's a good one. It could of course have been told more densely in a movie instead of 8 slow episodes but still it is a good watch.
The Night House (2020)
Right in the middle i stopped the movie
...to check if this was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It's a good one and the ending is not wasted... just left for your own imagination of the whole story. Perfectly watchable movie.
Teskilat (2021)
A Turkish perspective to world politics.
It's based on real events and displays a view from Turkey's perspective. It's no different than tons of such USA biassed TV shows like Homeland etc... So agree or not if you want to diversify your knowledge on what's happening it's a nice watch. It displays the war going underground among Soviet era allies those who would like to keep their cold war era influence and Turkey trying to rip through US dependence.
Infinitum: Subject Unknown (2021)
Nothing big here.. Watch if you have nothing to do
Especially towards the end I watched if by fast forwarding. The context is weak and you just don't know why exactly this happens. There is no significant clue about the experiment and it's aim whatsoever. YOu just watch and then say yes.
Tenet (2020)
A user manual should be given along with the tickets
I believe not many (perhaps nobody) can understand this movie at the first watch. So a ticket should also be eligible for multiple watches or somebody could easily sue them for taking their money and confusing them instead of entertaining.
I rate it 7 since i very much liked the idea of two entities co existing while living on inverted timelines. To make them fight on the same scene was a genious effort. I had to think for a day to digest the fight scene.
Shahsiyet (2018)
It's a relief in the absence of Breaking Bad
It simply falls in the same niche genre... and executed brilliantly. Well OK perhaps i shouldn't keep the bar that high but it's really good..!
Kirmizi Oda (2020)
It's a fine show
Well there are many characters each with a story of their own but it's a slow pace show. Each episode is longer than a movie. So in a way you are getting what you are paid for but it could be frustrating as well.
My style of whatching this show is just picking some of the characters as my favourite and fast forward the scenes with the others.
American Wisper (2020)
Some story but a lot of terrible acting here
OK there is a story which is sad. I would say... set aside a police force (even two) any person would solve this case without any of those shenanigans. It could have been a good short movie but horreundous acting is the last straw.
The Old Guard (2020)
The story is good
So, obviously there will be sequels. It's not perfect. The soundtrack is rubbish. However think it like Terminator I which had the potential to hand the real fun over to Terminator II which turned out to be the real thing. On the other hand the characters are vivid and the last minute addition is very intrigueing as well.So it is a totally watchable movie. I can say... my time is not wasted.
Into the Night (2020)
I can safely consider this as a good show
Yes there are plot holes. But during the Covid 19 period i have watched so many movies and TV shows that my brain developed a filter against plot holes and i have gradually started percieving the real story underneath. This show offers a nice story to watch to.
The text could have been shot far better but... come on guys lets enjoy what we have here. In this show every single character has a separate story for us to get intrigued. This is what shows being larger than life in the first place. Of course if one day you find yourself in a similar situation everybody around you would possibly be ordinary people with nothing interesting to tell each other.
You shouldn't judge the plane aviaonics harware location or why in the world they fueled up once for 1000 miles in Brussels how in the world ended up at Bulgaria by flying west only. One could have spent some more money and throw in another episode for a second tour around the world. Just fix that in your mind.
The story is not bad. I enjoyed the characters. After watching season 1 i am wondering now what's going to happen next. If you feel likewise then it's not a bad show.
You Should Have Left (2020)
Nothing much to watch
It perhaps can be OK for those who are super fond of mystery / suspect genre but to me it was really a cheap one. It's only good fron the point, watching these trash makes you realize what a masterpiece Shining was.
Dylda (2019)
Perfect story telling here
There is no need for long sentences and paragraphs... This movie is what Bicycle Thieves to Italian movie. It's all about life. Yes it might be a little slow.. but we are not watching Transformers here.
Killbird (2019)
Not a bad attempt
I like single location movies given the script is fine. I didn't pay a single cent to watch this movie but kept watching it all the way to the end without any regret. This is the method of my payment. Despite being B Class this is a good movie. I really liked the performance of the "former prom queen" caliber actress and also the lead guy. Watchable.
A Room Full of Nothing (2019)
I actually liked the couple very much
They seem to be a perfect fit for each other and for a while everything is romantic.. But then nothing happens except for some solitude and tons of logical holes.
Ozark: Fire Pink (2020)
Just paused and came here to check who is the actor playing the Ben character.
The taxi scene at the beginning was unbelievable. Can't even put it into words how i felt. I just haven't watched acting like that for a very long while.
Tom Pelphrey seems to be more of a comet than a star.
Rule of 3 (2020)
Actually not so bad
Despite it's a B class movie it's a very good one. Acting and text is really good. I can say i really liked it. It wouldn't be a waste of your time i suppose.
3022 (2019)
An unexpectedly fantestic movie..!
This movie reveals the hypocrisy of the modern society. Had this movie been shot by Ridley Scott it would be a top runner. It's got tons of phschodramatic content in it. Would make you question tons of matters about life.
If you are an average person like the shallow voters don't watch it.
Loving Pablo (2017)
Wasteful effort from Bardem
Narcos seasons 1 and 2 have already captured the story of Pablo Escobar fantastically. In Narcos, Wagner Moura portraits Escobar in such a convincing way that to me he is now Pablo Escobar. Watching a quality actor like Bardem doesn't change the fact that even a movie edition of Narcos would easily be a better movie.
