Babel (2006)
A magnificent effort which makes Hollywood genius
This film from start to finish is a ride which takes you on almost every emotion possible. There is nothing in this movie which doesn't make you think for more than two seconds. As every second passes a new thought comes into your brain and complicates things for you just so you can enjoy the movie. The movie talks to you in a way which emotionally takes you through the movie. While watching if you don't cry at least twice then the movie just isn't for you. The movie is an outstanding piece of work by a most marvellous director, Alejandro Gonzalez, who has directed amazing movies such as Ammores Perros and 21 Grams, both brilliant movies. This movie is his jump from small film to big blockbuster genius. This is a movie which is original and has style to it, it is a movie that Hollywood can be proud of for years to come, it's not a remake and it's proud of it! Brad Pitt's performance is amazing and simply marvellous. From start to finish when he is with his wife (cate blanchett) you just feel his emotion and just sit and watch him, I could have for hours.
Gael Garcia Bernal also did a brilliant performance as we see him go from San Diego to Mexico and his reactions from the two different lifestyles. His performance was just as amazing as Brad's.
Rinko Kikuchi is the woman that deserves an Oscar. Her performance as the death girl was simply beautiful. Her skill and brutality brought the screen in lights as the beautiful young rebel teen. She simply was the best part of the movie and clearly the most deserving of the Oscar, she held the movie and she made you think all the way through it.
Overall a really excellent movie that has only thrills in store for you, please watch the movie and rate it as fantastic, there's nothing else that needs to be said about a most magnificent movie that tells a story of love and survival and many other things.
Sixty Six (2006)
What a bit of pure class and brings you memories of 66!
I am the one writing this review, but I am doing this review in the style of my dad. My dad has seen some of this movie and he stated, 'brings back memories!' That's an achievement to get any man to say. From the next paragraph I am going to be my dad writing what I feel he would say.
A truly amazing movie with pure elegance and sheer brilliance. An amazing story set in the most amazing time in British history, captivating a truly emotional time where British people could actually smile without being called creepy or disgusting! Back then we all lived in a more happy place, we wasn't scared to leave our doors unlocked and we appreciated our neighbours. I am not Jewish, so I don't know how many Jewish festivities go, but if I was Jewish, I would have been pleased to have such a great day on my Barmitsvah.
I went to the 1966 world cup final, the crowd was mostly British, but there was some Germs there. The British lead the screams. Back then is when stadiums really felt like you were there. We were cheering England on, we couldn't believe we were winning, the cheers supported the team! Bobby Moore, what a tackle! Bobby Charlton, get the ball up there my son!
Geoff Hurst, GOAL! 3-2 to england. What a shocker. After normal time, we go into extra time. The game was mad as it was, we were shocked! So were the English team. They didn't believe it. Seconds away from the finish, Germany almost scored, the ball gets kicked down the field. The England crowd just stayed quiet. Geoff was on the ball, a player coming towards him............he shoots with the left................ .........................GOAL!!!!
'They think it's all over, It is now!' What a game. ENGLAND WIN THE WORLD CUP! No one believed it. We screamed and hugged whoever we could get a hold of. We patted the England players as they walked up to see the queen. It was a game, there will never be one like it ever again.
The film brings magic back into England.
Click (2006)
A moving emotional ride
This movie tests any true Adam Sandler fan. When we all found out about this movie we probably all thought, another typical sandler comedy. i was shocked when I saw some of the more upsetting scenes. This film really did make me feel teary. This film is a true contender for an award, be it for Make up or best acting or best movie. This film deserves loads of credit and Adam Sandler deserves an award for proving his acting talents.
Also this movie has some great guest stars. Christopher Walken was so funny but of course a little mean. And The Hoff. He was the best thing about the guests in it. He was so funny, when Adam Sandler slaps him, priceless!
The Terminal (2004)
Lets go to the Terminal
I found this movie so amazing. Tom Hanks lightens up our screens as this foreign man that never looses hope. He comes in America, a small and normal man, he leaves into the world of America, a hero! Steven Spielberg is such an amazing director. He makes a movie that he truly believes is worth making, he makes them beautifully and he makes you want to see them.
I love this movie so much, that I almost wanted to cry because they wouldn't let Tom Hanks character leave.
Also this film shows a real side to true love. Tom Hanks falls in love with Catherine Zeta Jones, and it is shown only gradually, but in this film a true identity is found.
The Identity of a lonely man that becomes something, and he is so amazing.
Hook (1991)
The beautiful side to Spielberg's imagination
Hello, I find this film so intelligently magical. I watched this many years ago with my dad. It was amazing. I knew Robin Williams from 'Mrs Doubtfire' and I knew Steven Spielberg from 'Indiana Jones.' I sat down and watched. This film truly unlocked my imagination. I was 4 or 5. And this film was just truly magical. I always after seeing this beautiful movie dreamt of going to Neverland with Peter Pan. My wishes came true in my dreams. I flew with Peter to the faraway place called, Never-Neverland. I was in heaven. It was my dream and i have concurred it. I thought myself the luckiest person in the world.
This film is a look at an adults imagination. I believe 'Peter Pan' is of course based on the character written in the novel by J.M Barrie. But i think the 'Peter' in this film is based loosely on 'Steven Spielberg.' I remember reading once, that Mr Spielberg had lost his childhood and he got it back by watching films and reading books full of imagination. I think he based some of that character on himself. I think Steven Spielberg is one of the best directors in the world who has one of the best imaginations in the world.
I think this film is beautiful. It is a heart warming story about an adults loss to gain of imagination. Spielberg re-lives J.M Barries story of Peter Pan, and graciously gives a spectacular film of beauty and imagination.
Robin Williams is awesome at playing 'Peter' he knows how to play a adult and a child. If anyone else played that role, it would have been a flop. In all fareness, Spielberg, Williams, Hoffman, Hoskins. There just kids in adults bodies. That is why i respect them so much.
Love this film....10/10
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
An honest review
Dear readers,
I wanted to read this book on it's release date, but as most people expected it got sold out very quickly and I missed my chance. I waited about a week for my book store to get it back in, but sadly no! So I just forgot about it, and I continued to read the bible (my faith) and love the world for what it really is, A Holy Place!
I eventually stumbled across The Da Vinci Code book again, it was really cheap, I thought 'why not?' So I went over to the cash register and bought the book for £2. I read it and put it down all most instantly, I was appalled at what it was suggesting! I made myself think for a long while. I read more extracts from the bible, bits that said 'people may have different thoughts, but you choose what to believe' (words not officially accurate, but gets the point.)
So when I read more of the bible and understood that there are people that do try and unfaith religion, I read it. I in honesty found the book really boring, it was an upset in books, I am a fond reader of books and this was truly an insult to books! I said to myself 'a small work of fictional writing!' Of course I didn't believe what the book tried to put across, it's because your not meant to! It's just an interesting book to read, just read it, so be it really.
Then I heard of a film, and i thought 'great, now all the people who can't be bothered to get of there fat arse and read a book, can see it in screen format!' I was appalled. RON HOWARD! I was shocked that he of all people would make a movie like this! Then he put in a fantastic cast, Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian Mckellon etc. It was a surprise, did they believe what the book tried to tell us, I don't know. But what I do know is the Catholic church didn't believe it, and neither did I!
Now onto the movie itself. Not bad, not great either, to be honest it's pretty average, it's like one of those book adaptations that are not great, but have something good about them. I am a catholic, so as soon as the film came out, I expected to hate it! But not really hating it, liking some of it. It was an interesting tale.
Jesus getting married to Mary Magdalane, her being in the last supper picture.....That is really a man, look how many men there are now, that resemble women, it was the same then, most men grew long hair. Here are some things raised in the film,
- Not Holy Grail in the picture of The Last Supper - Mary and Jesus fell in love - Phillip, who was he? An ignored book!Mary's Gospel! - Holy Grail = Woman's womb - Sang real in translation from French to English means Royal Blood - Mary pregnant at the time of Jesus's Crucifixion - The baby was born, it was a girl called Sarah - Greatest cover up in human history - Sophie (Audrey Tautou) Grandfather, is the Grandmaster - Secret to be trusted - The Key Stone - Small facts about the Key Stone Legend hides beneath the Rose Inside a map, leads to Holy Grail Trained by Grandmaster, sang riddle songs No something and never say again
- Only worthy can unlock the Grail - 2000 years, the church has done loads things in the name of God - Jesus was a normal man - The dark can be exposed - The Prioer was meant to expose the holy grail for the new millennium - Explode the truth - A.P.P.L.E
See these things bring interesting points across, but it's all up to you what you believe really, I don't believe much of this, but it certainly does raise a good few points! Here's a little more:
The holy grail has gone home The holy grail in Ancient Roslin The blade and challis as the Pagins wanted She rests beneath the starry sky's Mary Magdalane is the Holy Grail
This is the final outcome of the film, The film explains history doesn't always explain itself. You believe what you want to believe. But also it raises the point, why cant Jesus have been married and had a child, and be the son of God at the same time.
I honestly cant answer that, but I believe if Jesus really did have a child, it's not a cover up, it's just something that hasn't been explained to its best ability, Jesus was always the son of God.
Amen. P.S: If anyone wants to tell me what they feel about this, please email me, shuichi_shindosan@yahoo.co.uk
Thank you.
Finding Neverland (2004)
A most beautiful film!
I watched this film and I totally got blown away by it. Johnny Depp is most convincing in this tale of true imagination! I am a fond reader of the wonderful story of Peter Pan and I truly adore the movies that express the imagination of the marvellous writer J.M Barrie.
When I found out they was making this film, I knew instantly I had to see it. 1: Because I love J.M Barrie and 2: Because I love peter pan! I love the story of a young boy never growing up and I love that it was an adult who thought up the idea. It was beautiful, the first time I read the Peter Pan novel, I cried. I cried because I finished it. Peter came back to see Wendy and she had grown, she didn't keep to her promise, but you know after finishing this book, she is still a child.
I think this film portrays the life of Mr J.M Barrie perfectly, the way he walks into the door and he walks into a imaginary world and his wife walks into a normal room. It was beautiful. It took me ages to cry, but when I thought the time was wright, I cried, this film is so emotionally moving, that it will moving any grown man to tears, and it will change any adults view of the world.
We all have an imagination, we should use it, I use mine. How about you? (If anyone wishes to comment on my review, please email me on, shuichi_shindosan@yahoo.co.uk)
Ôdishon (1999)
I don't know what to call it!
A film that has many brilliant delights and happy scenes that you will love to watch with your children. Don't expect that from this film. This is a film where you don't expect anything, it just happens. It's a tale of mystery and one girls ambitious imagination.
This film outstandingly disgusting in many places, I stomached the hole film two times. I have got it and I will keep it, but I don't know when I shall watch this film again. I loved the movie to bits, even though it is one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen, more than Hostel. Hostel was a semi-disturbing, nothing to malicious.
A film to make disturbing, you have to put in disturbing scenes. In this film it details the pleasure for the female character when she is sticking needles into the mans body and face. Also it shows the distorted man in the bag, who has only few fingers and drinks or should I say melts his face into the sick.
This film has to be one of the most greatest films ever made because it tests cinemas world and also it's great because you know that the Americans will never try to remake this because it is totally above there cinema screen.
There are more disturbing films like, "Mysterious Skin and Irreversible" I haven't seen Irreversible, but this is most certainly one of the most disturbing films of all time. It's a film that you will only hope to disgust.
A truly gruesome disgusting tale of a girl that I think goes way too far.
8/10
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
A real film
What an amazing movie, if you turn away from this movie because it's about two gay cowboys, or two gay Shepard's, it means you are stereotypical. And thats not a nice thing to be. So be it, it's a great story perfected by two fantastic actors that made us believe there love for each other.
Ang Lee knew what he was doing when he decided to work on this film, he found the right cast and found the right environment for a great film and he knew that out of all his films this is the one that made it big, people noticed this film as his big one. Ang Lee has always made sure that all his films are different and this continues that saga of films.
Heath Ledger, what do you say, what a brilliant actor, he fired himself up for such a role and probably got a lot of stick for it, when I saw him on my screen, I realised he was that cowboy, he was the one that fired up Jake Gylinhalls character, he is that big character that has too choose, he played the role so well, no one could have challenged his performance.
Jake Gylinhall, was perfect, when they start there intercourse scene, Jake did it perfectly, calm and careful and then he pushed Heaths character to do it, he managed to find this difficult character and played it brilliantly, he knew what he had to do and he did it. Donnie Darko to Jarhead (bummer) then to this (fantastic) he has proved himself an actor.
Overall I give this film a 9/10 because of Ang Lee's style to shooting and how shoots the film, Heath and Jake's wonderful performances, and also to the female characters who stay far away but play there roles brilliantly, and even Anna Faris being in it (scary Movie girl) she also performed her role brilliantly. And the accents are great.
Great film, watch it if you know what you are about to see, if you don't watch it, we all know why, this film tells us about love in a different way, it deserves everything, I mean everything, it is one brilliant film that stuns you from start to finish, Ang Lee you are great!
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
An unfortunate film!
Dear Readers, Do not watch this film. This film is an unfortunate tale of three kids who suffer the death of there parents. Then they goto live with three different carers, only one of them survives, the bad one of course, this is a movie that will send you in tears, it sent me to another world where I got to see bad acting, and unfortunately only one good adaptation, this film is unfortunate for the reason that Jim Carrey is in it! Please before you enter this into your DVD player please take my advice and put it back into its case and send it back to where you got it from, have fun.
Lemony Snicket.....Nah not really!
The Pink Panther (2006)
Steve Martin not at all bad
I watched and enjoyed this movie. I love the Peter Sellers version a lot, because I saw it first and it was the original.
The reason I love this one is because Steve Martin gives new life to the character, he gives a special bond to the character, a special comical connection to the character. His performance was great, he made laughs, farts and loads of odd sex, but it was still great.
Kevin Kline was good, he didn't do a lot for the film but what he had there was good enough to lighten up the screen and bring laughs all around, especially at the end, wont say what happens though.
Jean Reno was perfect, continually punching Steve and continually making us laugh and the joyess dance between Steve and Jean, what a classic! The one disappointment was Beyonce, she cant act to save her life, she was in this film because she wanted to exploit her music out to the world, she did it, but it spoils the film. Beyonce get a life please! But overall my review of the film gives a 7/10, a very enjoyable film from start until finish!
Silent Hill (2006)
An interesting tale
Silent Hill is place no one ever wants to go to, of course its a place that our dreams express often, our dreams show us a sign and that sign is Silent Hill.
This film was really interesting, a great ending and a great story. I have plaid brief bits of all the games and I know that basic plots, there talented games and bloody brilliant ones to watch. A film would be hard, I knew that, but it was possible. The film deserves a lot of good reviews, the only bummer side to the film is how much CGI they used, but leave that alone and you have a talented film that can impress all.
The stars of the film all heald there own in this film, the one i think that worked the hardest was the little girl, she plaid the role perfectly, a wonderful child actress is coming to our screens, our big screens, she was also in Kingdom Hospital! All in all the film was good and not disappointing! 8/10
Walk the Line (2005)
Good, better and bloody fantastic
This film is the kind that i think people will be proud to watch again. Joaquin himself will probably never watch To die for again and think the same things he did when he filmed it.
Reese will never watch Legally Blonde 1 - 2 and say that was a great job. This is because they made a true story an instant classic. Everyone likes watching films about singers, because its cool seeing a film about someone else's life because you don't have to look at your own. This film was really good. I enjoyed it from beginning to finish and all i really have to say is,
"But i shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die!"
Whoever decides to watch this just think.......It's country and western all the way with good story and brilliant acting.
Cash would be proud.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Never lost, just hopeful
This film is so perfect and lovely. I think this is Bill Murrays best performance in such a long time.
This film shows you two characters, both of them are married and both of them cant sleep at night. They end up meeting each other and spending a lot of time together. They talk about deep and personal things, such as, "marriage, kids etc.." Over the course of the next hour of the film they find a crack between each other and fall deeply in love, a different kind of love. The love is different because its deep and personal and you know straight away that its love that will not stay there forever.
By the end of the film it has to be said the film gets sad and soppy, which works for this film and worked for me as a fan of this film. I enjoyed this film from start to finish, it was beautiful and it was brilliant filming in one of the greatest places on the earth, Tokyo.
9/10
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)
Cheese Gromit!
This movie was brilliant, when i watched this film i had goosebumps swimming around my stomach, it was a priceless film, i enjoyed it so much.
I have never seen an animating team work so hard, 3 seconds a day working on this film, Corpse Bride managed to finish a lot quicker, maybe thats because some of the edges and some of the bits in that film was a little sloppish.
But this film definitely broke the mole for stop motion animation, this is superbly the best animation film of 2005 and the best British animation of all time, even though Chicken Run was fantastic, it cant match up to Nick Parks classic Wallace and Gromit.
So if your in for fun and laughter watch this and enjoy! 9/10
Bad Boys II (2003)
Great!
I have watched this movie and I was stunned. The 1st Bad Boys film was really cool and slick and it was a great first attempt for Michael Bay. Now this comes out and it out does the 1st by 3000 miles. I always knew with the class of Bay and Bruckenheimer, they could make an instant classic sequel and we all want to hear the news of a Bad Boys 111. Lets all hope for the best. All of you fans watch and enjoy and Bay classic, from the opening scene and all the strange camera shots, to the scene in the nightclub where the camera makes it's way around the women in bras and knickers and goes up and around turns to the Exticy stuff, It's bloomin fantastic. 8/10
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
So upsetting and so real!
I saw this movie in the cinema, what happened was i paid to see another movie and then I snuck into this one.
I am very religious, so this film is what I was really interested in seeing. After I watched it, I think i created a Tsunami in the cinema. It was so accurate to the real story of Jesus Christ.
Mel Gibson, he worked so hard and the Jewish people are not proud of the effort he put into this film. I respect him even more now than I ever did. So Mel rock on as you should.
I would say if you ever want to see such a powerful masterpiece of a movie, watch this one and become a religious fanatic. You'll love every bit of it, even if you don't believe in the story. 9/10
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
what a talented film
I watched this film and the chills that went down my spine. Voldermort was perfect, Ralph Fienes played the role like an evil person should.
I also enjoyed the emotional up roar between Ron and Hermionie just after the ball, there acting has gone up a few classes.
Daniel surprised me because in all the other films his acting has been kind of.....eh....awful! AKA: "HE WAS THERE FRIEND!" Quote from POA.
But in this film, the end sequence with Cedric dead on the floor and Harry smothering over him, his acting game me how do you say it.....GOOSEBUMPS.I was so amazed. Ifelt like crying myself.
Oh and hagrid and Madame Maxine was so perfect, when there dancing, Hagrid puts his hand down and attempts to touch Madame Maxine's bottom and she pulls his hand back up.
And I have read the book and I loved it, I read it about a year ago, so I was glad because then i realised how close to the book the film was.
Wormtail at the end, "The Dark Lord shall rise!" Oh how chilling. I loved it.
This film is so enjoyable and it will crack the kids up and the adults can realise how adult like it is. I think this film is more for an older audience because it has too much explaining for the kids. But still kids will have a good laugh when they see this movie.
It's better than all the rest of the HP films and I think none of the future one's will be this good. So see it before any more come out.
9/10
The Matrix (1999)
This was good!
OH MY GOD! I watched this and i was surprised because all i could think was how bad the sequels was. I watched Revolutions and reloaded first, then i found time to watch the first one and i was stunned. This film has brilliant thrills and you will not keep on falling asleep during this one because its actually good.
You should see this one and not bother seeing the other two because you'll be very disappointed. I was.
And also i have to say these guys who directed the film, tell them not to direct another 3 parter because it will ruin them again. And Keanu Reeves don't ever do a film like Constantine again.
The Island (2005)
Another masterpiece by Michael bay!
I watched this on August 14th 2005 and i was blown away, the scenes with Ewan and Scarlett was amazing, they really want to go to this island, and then one of them does. I just thought this is what the Matrix was supposed to be. Honest opinion i think, its a classic story of love, hope and action. And all of this is shown in this film. I think this film took me by surprise because i always thought Michael bay was terrific but i didn't know he could make a film like this. I was extremely disappointed with the Bad Boys films, so i was glad he decided to do something we love, his masterpieces. A great film that will keep you laughing, crying and screaming for more, at a long 2hrs and 17 mins, you wish it was 24 hrs and 17 mins, you'll never want to leave the cinema. And Sean Bean is the perfect villain. And he's so calm, and the small cameo by the black guy from The Green Mile, he was totally amazing. You should watch this.
Zoey 101 (2005)
fantastic
I love this program so much!!!!!!! its fantastic, i never originally planned to watch it, what happened was i was watching unfabulous (also great) and in the ad break i saw a trailer for zoey 101 and i thought i might check out a episode and when i saw it i got hooked!!!

this is fantastic u'll love it from the minute u turn on ur TV!!!!!!!!!!
u gotta admit that jamie lynn spears is so much better than her older sister Britney!!!
well i hope u all agree with me!
Touched by an Angel (1994)
Fantastic! Genius work!
This program can get you off at the edge of your seat and, if you don't believe in God then i think you should watch this program because this actually don't try and force you to believe that God or angels is real but it can give you so much hope, you sit there to enjoy, cry, smile and realise that this program can help you if you want it to, or you see loads of love and emotion. This is amazing, new episodes are on in england at 11am on Saturdays and Sundays or at 6pm on the same days on Hallmark, hope you can watch this and enjoy it as much as i do! I think this is just fantastic, i hope that anyone who reads this decides to watch this incredible program.
