Frozen (2013)
Blew me away, I love tangled and this one has matched it! Brilliant.
Honestly, since seeing tangled, nothing has lived up to the expectations set by it. I loved tangled. The characters, the music and the plot. Frozen had completely matched it. The story line had me captivated. The ice scenes were magical and just stunning. Everything thing about the scenery was warming (despite it being frozen :P) and it just looked so beautiful. Olaf was hilarious! I generally don't like the annoying side kicks that are usually cringe not funny, but Olaf (like pascal in tangled) was an exception! I laughed out loud at his jokes, and being an 18 year old in a theatre full of children shows that this film has definitely got the potential to make anyone giggle. I took my little brother with me and he loved every bit and he was surprised by how much he liked it as he thought it was going to be girly. The two main characters were brilliant, Elsa was a great character, she was very mysterious and different to most Disney princesses where as Anna just felt so relatable, she wasn't perfect. The scene where her hair is all messy in the morning made me laugh because its just like me! This film actually made me appreciate my sister more. Although the only downside would be the copious amounts of singing but I have actually downloaded "let it go" (both the Menzel and lovato version) as it was such a breath taking song. This is a MUST see film. I recommend it.
Despicable Me 2 (2013)
Loved It!!!
In all honesty I can't remember the first film that well, so I found it hard to compare to the sequel. On the other hand this film is completely memorable and so enjoyable.
I saw the preview and I absolutely loved it. I was worried that all the good bits were in the adverts but the film was full of exciting and hilarious parts that aren't in the advert.
The minions are so funny, I was actually crying with laughter at some parts. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I am taking my little brother to see it again (mainly so I can see it again! Hehe)
The characters are lovable, hate able, and hilarious, the film has evolved from the first one (from what I can remember) and its such a heart warming family film.
I COMPLETELY Recommend THIS FILM :)
Tangled (2010)
I had to write a review for this film
This film came out ages ago but I feel the need to write a review.
I LOVE THIS FILM.
I have seen it multiple times, own it on two different DVDs, have all the merchandise and could not recommend this film enough.
It had me laughing, it had me crying, Flynn in a good looking lovable rogue and Rapunzel is relatable for teenagers, including myself.
I couldn't rate is film high enough if I tried, it's my favourite film.
Also, the songs are too catchy and I have them all on my phone. So beware you might find yourself singing along to the songs. Also, pascal, Rapunzel's little chameleon is adorable, a lovably sidekick who adds a warmth to the film.
Man of Steel (2013)
Mixed feelings about this film
Let me start by saying this film is very action packed and exciting.
I went to see it with my boyfriend and I took some persuading (not a fan of action films but also saw iron man 3 twice after enjoying it so much) so I gave it a go.
I found I was captivated by the hardships of superman, and how down to earth he was.
The relationship between him and his adoptive parents is lovely and heart warming, but also had me tearing up at parts due to the love and compassion that you could feel between the actors. I enjoyed the plot, since I went into the film completely oblivious and unknowing, unlike my boyfriend.
I enjoyed the romance, the thrills, the good looking Henry Cavill.
The parts I didn't enjoy, and maybe because I am a girlie girl, we're the fight scenes. In my opinion they dragged. Considering superman was supposed to be "indestructible" and a one of kind super hero, I felt his glory was sort of stolen by the fact that anyone from his planet can obtain these powers, it was a bit like having too many super hero people.
Also, when he was fighting the others from his planet, I thought it was never going to end, it was a bit weird to watch since neither of them appeared to get injured, it look like a battle that would last forever,
Other than that, I found the film to be enjoyable, deep and the animation and acting for the film was impeccable.
I recommend this film, but beware, if you have somewhere to get to, please see this film at least 3 hours in advance since it lasted a lot longer than I expected.
After Earth (2013)
I'm glad I read the reviews after the film
I don't really read reviews before going to see a film, I feel like you end up with an expectation of the film already if you do, I think it's better to get your own opinion of a film. I am so glad I didn't read these reviews before going otherwise I never would have gone!
I loved the film, maybe I'm not a hard core sci fi fan, I haven't seen all of will smiths films, but this film didn't disappoint me, I was quite surprised when I read these reviews because they are all pretty hardcore. I feel like there might be too much of an expectation for this film but I truly enjoyed it.
I'm not a special effects specialist but I can tell you they looked realistic to me... Also I found the film to be quite jumpy and enjoyable, I wasn't bored once.
Maybe I'm easily pleased, maybe I'm not, but I think this film deserves more than one star.
This has definitely taught me that reading reviews before seeing a film doesn't always help, as I completely disagree with about 90% of these reviews.
