Les filles de Caleb (1990)
Best historical drama I've ever seen!
This is a french Canadian classic! It tells the story of Emilie Bordeleau at the end of the 19th century! How she becomes a teacher then marries and has children. Its her life with all its trials and tribulations. She never manages to find peace and complete happiness but that makes the show that much more interesting. I have to say if you like history and want to see how people in french Canada lived a hundred years ago this is the series for you! Yes it is a soap but its still great television. Like I said its a classic, people closed there stores to watch the show when in came on, on Thursday evenings in 1990. Its our history, how we were, how we lived, with the problems of the times! ITS SIMPLY GREAT.
Peau d'âne (1970)
One of my Favorite Childhood movies!
It's about this princess who's dying mothers last wish to her beloved husband is that when he re-marrie's he find a women more beautiful then she is. That King is rich because of a donkey that pooh's gold. After looking at hundreds of Princess pictures he finds none as beautiful as his lost love. His servant finally decides to show him his daughter's picture. He finds her unbelievably beautiful and decides he will marrie her, his own daughter! So when the young princess learns of this she runs into the forest to her fairy godmother! The fairy tells her to ask her father for 3 dresses, one of time (as in the time outside), one of moon and one of sun. Her father gives it to her, then the fairy tells her to ask for the donkey's skin. He gives it to her. In a panic and scared, her godmother arrives and tells her to flee, which she does! With her dresses and descised under her donkey skin. She is than asked by the prince of the region for a cake! She bakes it but adds her ring in the cake. The prince is already in love with her and he summons all the women of his kingdom to try the ring on and see that women. There is more to this but i won't spoil everything. I watched it at least 38 times as a child. The songs are amazing and I recommend it to every one who likes fairy tales.
