Blue Bloods (2010)
Good family story and interaction but way too many cop memes.
Other than the interactions between the family members and others, the writers use a lot of "cop memes" to fill in the hour. 1. Two detectives are looking for someone. They see him. From ten feet away they yell his name. He runs, we get five minutes of a foot chase.. 2. Same thing but guy is near or in his car. Guy runs, we get five minutes of a car chase. 3. They go into a building to arrest someone. They did not cover the back door or window. The guy gets out and we get five minutes of a chase. 4. Chase scenes, bad guys are in a van and the cops in a police car and they can not catch the van. Fortunately it crashes. This show would be #1 in the ratings if the writers would stop falling back on the standard cop show memes.
Blue Heelers (1994)
Definitely went down hill after Jo died.
Overall I like the show however there are a number of things I did not like.
1. Each of the male cops at one time or another went all emotional and thought went out the window. Often grabbing a suspect, shaking them, yelling at them, oh-so-certain that person was guilty and then they turn out to be wrong. 2. The younger guys always seem to be on the make. This causes them to get involved with women they came in contact with as victims or suspects in an inappropriate manner. These two factors have me saying over and over "How stupid can you get?" 3. When someone leaves it is either with a bit of a cloud over them or they die.
I think what really caused the show to drop was Jo was killed and Tom, the head cop, goes to the dark side. The whole series is worth watching but your satisfaction for each episode will drop as you go along.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Knock off the main character.
Sob, sob, sob. Half the show is the main character going all sob happy over her past. So she has to verbalize as the clock ticks down and she only does what she has to do at the very last second. A large part of the remainder is people doing speeches. Boring. This is the worst Star Trek out there and a total waste of time.
Code Black (2015)
Like many shows, the "best" breaks the rules.
Medicine, like law, fire fighting and the military, has proven protocols. If everyone knows them and follows them you got a team. When you have hot dogs who think they know best and go do their own thing you have a mess. This show is typical of many shows today, lots of conflict because of the hot dogs. A real ER can not run when you do not know what other staff will do. 45 years as a nurse and I have never seen this kind of action. This is entertainment, it is not even close to the real thing.
