The Mother (2023)
Slow and extremely derivative
Write a movie outline which just says "include action sequence similar to.. ...." in about 30 places.
Don't bother with a technical advisor.
Hand it to Netflix.
That pretty much sums up the whole movie. I'm sure many may find it entertaining with somewhat stirring soundtrack meant to inject emotion into an otherwise dead movie.
J-Lo obviously doesn't do her own action sequences but it looked like she was just sat on a motorbike/snow mobile etc whilst someone off screen shook it at the appropriate times and a prerecorded background played behind them.
Not a bad performance by anyone but I don't think there is anything they could have done with such a lack of substance.
Maid in Manhattan is better.
Scrapheap (1998)
Old is gold.
Brilliant diy engineering, genuinely eccentric and talented host, actual tension and excitement.
Despite not building a fire breathing, racing, 4x4 monster in every episode the engineering and build is always fantastic and interesting.
Scrapyard Supercar (2019)
Scrapyard worthy
Very much like one of those cringy team building days you go on.
Bad acting and scripts. Obviously planted parts. By no means Scrapheap Challenge. At least the teams seem genuine.
Goblin Works Garage (2018)
Diet pimp my ride.
I think this program is aimed at people who aren't actually in to cars, bikes or engineering.
It seems to follow the same lifeless, paint by numbers script each week which is probably why some of the presenters seem a bit fake and Jimmy just seems bored.
Teens might like it.
