The Out-Laws (2023)
Good fun movie
An underrated movie. What are people waiting for?!
Very nice funny moments.
I like the structure of the scenario. It has some good moves. Yes, a lot of it is deja-vu, but we did not say that of good movie which are also full of clichés. I liked the dynamics between the soon-to-be-married couple and their respective in-laws. Main characters are funny.
Overall i had a good time.
Acting is very nice. Well known actors (who did not disappoint).
The directing is good.
So yeah, basically don't expect the best movie but you won't be disappointed for a good funny movie, made with hearth (as it seems).
National Treasure: Edge of History (2022)
Nice.
Don't listen to the haters.
It is a cool version of the treasure quest, made with the new generation. So yes it might not answer to all the traditional code of the precedent national treasure. But i found it enjoyable. The enigmas are stimulating and pleasant. I often liked a good treasure hunt, and that one is not different.
I liked the réalisation. So i don't see why some need to low rate that show, so much.
If you don't like a show you can watch something else.
It reminds me of reviews like « i wanted to see a comedy. That is awful. I put 2/10 » when reviewing an horror movie. Inadequate. And frankly quite disrespectful of the movie crew. My two cents.
So for a nice time, yes watch this serie. Quite family friendly of course.
Resident Evil (2022)
I like it
That is a cool show.
I love the RE stories, kind of my guilty pleasure. And that one is quite fidel to the genre, imo. Idk why people bad rate it. What expectations did they have ?
I liked the story. I wasn't boring. Nice ending etc. Characters are decent, nice sisters dynamics. It is a bit of a coming out of age story, but not too much.
The acting is good, overall. I found Lance Reddick very good (as usual), Paola Nunez as well.
So if you like RE or Z-apocalyptique series/movies, you can give it a try. Don't listen to the haters.
Note: i would note it 7-8, but due to bad reviews i put a 9 (equilibrium...lol)
2067 (2020)
really great
It is a great movie. I don't understand the bad reviews/notes. If you don't like sci-fi and time-travel, please, just don't watch it.
I have an interest in those, and this is very well made. The time plot is very well-designed. Maybe people just don't understand it. The social backstory is very relatable. Yes i saw a part of the end coming (no spoiler) but not unlike most movies.
The main protagonist is good, just a bit over sensible, by acting or design, sometimes, but nothing serious. Nothing that loses the movie, unlike some reviews say. The human and social touch (as in most sci-fi oeuvres) is nice. The decors and actors are spot-on. I love Ryan Kwanten (as good as in True Blood). It is a moderate budget movie that did well with what it had. So final word, if you like good time-travel sci-fi movies: watch it. Don't listen to haters.
Captive State (2019)
Very good intake
I like alien invasion movies (district 9, colony, V...) and this one is very nice.
There is some social thickness, and interesting human interactions between characters. I found the alien description and action somehow believable.
The story is good and human. Very enjoyable.
Abigail (2019)
Good. Don't listen to americans who never had a dubbed movie before
OMG, so many people complaining about dubbing. This have been our life, us non-americans. So get over it.
The movie itself is very decent. Pretty much typical young adult sci-fi fantasy.
I liked the scenes. Everything is sooooo clean but it still looks good.
Acting is okay, story too.
Not my preferred movie but was still a good time.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Loved it.
I was hyped by all the heavy trailers-marketing. It didn't disappoint !!
Great story and i can be really picky with time-travel logic (and paradoxes).
Some scenes are just awesome and grandiose (but not all to be fair). Great CGI effects.
Acting is on spot (i love Yvonne Strahosvki, very happy to see her in a big role like this).
Minor itches (hero getting above veteran's rank, no big name wearing any helmet ever and some other hollywoodismes...).
Definitely a big movie in my book. I recommend.
Awake (2021)
Really good.
I really love it. The scenario is well built, realization and acting is good.
Ok few small plot holes, but overall the scenario is interesting. Good concept. Well developped.
I loved the action scene in the car too (no spoiler). It was crazy.
The overall acting in the late stage of insomnia is amazing. I loved those scenes.
This movie is something new, not another zombie apocalypse or another meteor movie. I don't get why so many bad reviews. I found it original. Its « realism » made it thrilling.
Snowpiercer (2020)
I like it a lot
I usually HATE series based on movies as i find them unnecessary and money-grabbing.
But this one got me hooked since episode 1.
Not everything or every acting is perfect but the whole thing is great.
Discovering Jennifer Connelly and i love her acting and ways. Sean bean is great too.
The comic (french--like me) was great. The movie was (dark and) good. Not a great adaptation imo but a good movie.
And the serie succeeds into the legacy.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Good movie with a bemol
Overall i liked the realization, acting, and main plot. It is interesting, quite original, and not overdone before.
BUT i didn't like that goofy mafia. They make several big mistakes. So unrealistic compared to what they are supposed to be in the movie (able to forge identities and do perfect murders and stuff), or even compared to the real world. I consider those errors to be plotholes, because come on . That beating Fran took left her....quite unhurt, with no sequels the next morning (it is not due to the acting, the makeup doesn't follow at all either, it a plot problem). Many « details ». I know it is a fictional story but too many times i had to remind of that.
But, as i was a bit frustrated by all that nonsense, the end came with itself (...) and all was over on a good note.
I had a good time though. The movie is good.
Palm Springs (2020)
Very good take on the genre
I was very sceptical to watch another groundhog day. As i saw what is « needed » to be seen with this concept. But i gave it a try after seeing the trailer (funny details), and i wanted to watch a comedy.
I loved it. Funny and also beautiful story.I really vibrated sometimes.
I found the screenplay very good (still one bugging detail at the marriage but hey...).
Acting overall is very good (essentially by the 2 mains of course). Best movie i saw with Andy Samberg.
I love when science-fiction is a mean to a humane « morale ». This one was light and good.
Give it a try if you hesitate.
The Predator (2018)
Nice one
Very likable movie. I found the characters well built.
Some humoristic details are very fun (« it is not a predator... » thing).
Imo the dilm does not take itself too seriously and it is a win for me.
Good acting and a lot of actors i like to see, including olivia munn.
Good effect.
Con: few plots holes or weirdeness there and there. But i am not one to assassinate a movie for that. I consider the human work in its globality.
Red Spring (2017)
Very decent vampire movie
Very good for a low budget movie.
As said many times those movies (with few characters or villains) are what you do if you don't have money, so get over it.
But I found it to be a rather interesting view and interpretation of the vampire genre.
Ok acting is not always on top but very decent. Characters are interesting.
The whole scenario not too bad, and even quite thrilling for the day/night atmosphere, and preparation. I liked it.
You just have to know what you will get here: a good low budget vampire movie. Not a big action movie.
Medical Police (2020)
Fun'y
Very funny. I don't understand the bad comments.
Lot of funny detail jokes. I even liked the euro jokes (being french). Good time.
Don't Fuck in the Woods (2016)
Good indie horror hommage
First, this movie was done by passionate people for under 10 000$ budget, so don't watch it with other expectations (and then bad rate it).
And for the budget i find pretty nice. Typical teenage (monster) slasher. I loved some references. And once again, impressed y what people can do with no money. So please appreciate it, at its just value.
Another Life (2019)
Interesting
Much better than what negative critics say.
Indeed the crew is soappy and don't not feel super real (how those people have been selected). But beyond that, that global plot is good (alien encounter) and the episodic adventures are good.
I watched with interest. I loved the technicals details.
Edit for season 2: s2 is even better. More developped as the plot evolves. Lot of events. Interesting sub-plots. I love it. I hope for more seasons now.
Re-Kill (2015)
Love it !
Wow ! I saw quit a lot of those infection movies: doomsday, day of the dead, resident evil, the crazies, world war Z, 28 days later ec....But this one find a new way into the classic infection-movie genre. Despite not being very original, its TV-show-orientation is very well-done and entertaining. The general theme is nice. The "fake"TV shots are good. The characters nicely depicted. The scenario is not perfect (some default there and there, or little bit of emptiness), but overall a very decent realisation, which would justify a second part. I think it is really fresh to the zombie genre, and worth your time if you like it. I still think IMDb should stop asking for a minimum of 10 lines for us to be able to publish a comment. Some good comments might be 2-3 lines and still bring real value to the reader.
Infini (2015)
great movie
Very good sci-fi movie. Thriller, which main scenario is not very new, but well done. Good acting and story. Human story with violence. Deep space thriller. Mysterious event. The ending is intelligent to me: leaving us on a satisfaction feeling. The overall ambiance is very good. It deserves much more than the 5.5 rating. I would note 9, but did note 10 to counter those 5.5 votes. A promising movie. I hope to see more like this. If you love sci-fi, this movie is for you. Even if you don't.
Also to be noted: i hate to be obliged to write 10 lines minimum, in order to be able to post a positive review on IMDb. Can't i review a movie with less lines?!?
