As We See It (2022)
Not much comedy and all actors are neurotypical.
I am still waiting for comedic Acting. If you are thinking you are going to see a even halfway decent knock off of Atypical save your time. Felt like artistic Neurotypical mansplaining of what high functioning autism is like. Lack if any Non-Neurotypical actors appears to keep any resemblance of realism from creeping in.
The Fountain (2006)
Just when you think it cannot suck any more.....it does!!!
I usually do not write reviews.
I make exceptions for movies that suck this bad!! I walked out wishing I could get back not only my money but the time I wasted watching this film!! Great Actors!! Great Cinematography! Trailer hooked me...Story of MOVIE just sucked!! The trailer leads you to believe that the movie has something to do with the search for the fountain of youth! You might be expecting adventure and romance. You might even think the story will take you through the long lives of those who have learned the secret of eternal youth. Well you will be disappointed if this is what you wish to see.
What you end up being subjected to is a whirlwind of confusion trying to masquerade as a profound storyline. There is nothing profound about this premise that could not have been summed up in 10 minutes by someone simply saying "The joy in life is that it is fleeting. Seize the Day!!" The rest of the movie is simply depressing window dressing that has you wishing that it would just end already!
When Will I Be Loved (2004)
81 minutes of bad music, worse dialog, and too much "character development"
The summary say it all.
This was the 2nd worst movie I have seen to date. #1 being I heart huckabees.
This film has no redeeming qualities. The sex scenes are flaccid at best. The score overpowers the crappy dialog but not enough that you do not hear it.
The "character development" was lame, and went on way too long.
Felt caught between wanting to see a naked Nave and the desire to scratch my eyes out.
Just like with Huckabees I kept waiting some the film to get better but alas it didn't.
I have seen softcore porn with better plots, and at least most of them get you a little turned on by their sex scenes.
Not worth the time even if the movie is for free, and someone else buys your popcorn, candy and drink.
Spun (2002)
Strong Realism in Performances
Very Bizarre and realistic movie.
The behavior of "Speed Freaks" always fascinated me growing up in the mean streets of East Colfax in Denver Colorado. Growing up a "Pot Head" myself, I was at the extreme over end of the drug experience spectrum from the meth users. This movie so strongly reflects many of the aspects of the behavior of old friends and acquaintances that I thought these characters came right from my old neighborhood. Personalities that are paranoid beyond the belief of the straight mind, leading to acts of ultimate stupidity by people who are trying to act cool and blend in! The pace of the film is geared to assist the viewer in experiencing the mind set of the speed user. Several visual tricks also enhance the feeling of a Topsy-turvey world put into fast forward.
The research done is really reflected in this screenplay! Great Performances from Mickey Rourke, Jason Schwartzman, John Leguizamo and Brittany Murphy.
