Predictable.

Star wars is now a cash cow. There isn't much too tell, not much to make up, specially nowadays where you cannot hurt anybody's feelings and risk a social media or media boycott, but it still sells, so lets make another movie. No, several. And some spin offs. As a result, the viewer gets more and more disappointment... Star Wars Episode VIII is an absolutely predictable film. Everything that happens, a non brainless viewer can anticipate it. The better thing to do is not use your brain at all, because you start to raise questions, the little pleasure in watching it is gone. For instance, how does a character survive adrift in outer space, with no suit, gets back to the half wrecked ship, a door opens and she gets in. Do not try this at home, or better, at an aeroplane, because if you do it everything will be sucked out and the structure will most likely implode. So the movie is a mimic to "The empire strikes back", more alien bar scenes, more gullible characters on the good side dwelling with issues, much more funny pets and robots Disney can sell as merchandise, CGI, CGI and more CGI and no creative spark at all. Very little plot. Very little novelty. Even Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher performances are (and I am very sorry to say this) feeble. Has a saga fan (and Sci-fi fan) I keep going to the movie theatre to watch these movies but this one may have been the last, has I keep getting disappointed. I enjoyed episode IV, V and VI, a long long time ago in a far age, I was a kid. As an adult its a little bit more difficult.

It started well but lost itself...

I loved the first episodes of the the series. Set in Paris, it features a french police brigade. It has some nudity, violence and action with a French accent and flavour. Nice and refreshing since most shows are about the American or English reality. Unfortunately, the crudeness that was interesting and refreshing in the first episodes goes on and on. It is as if the plot is always the same, a group of hard policemen and women that fight crime not really caring about the law. They kill the villain. Then comes another.... So, murder after murder and law violation after law violation, the cops always get away with it. It gets unbelievable.... It should have lasted one or two seasons and give it a good finale as a prize. Some characters manage to disappear from season to season without much explanation, probably the actors weren't available...

The best of the new movies
8 January 2017
For me this was the best movie since the original trilogy. It relies less on easy jokes and CGI and more on a good story and action as the good old original ones, and yet it is more unique than episode VII. I appreciated a lot the care to detail on robots, computer graphics and space ship instruments, that don't look (a lot) more high tech than original episodes IV, V and VI, which would be odd given the chronology of events. On episodes I, II and III, technology keeps looking more developed than in the original trilogy which is strange. In Rogue One one they sorted this out in a better way. The way the plot develops also makes it harder for there to be a sequel to this movie which is also refreshing has today almost every movie has a door open to one...
