Too many holes and predictable
3 April 2010
A timid guy Karthik who is been bullied all his life finds himself a loser in his job, social and love life.Frequent meetings with a psychiatrist(Shefali) also fail to help. When things get completely out of hand, he attempts suicide. He gets an anonymous call(who claims he is also Karthik) right at that time, with tips to change his life. As time progresses he becomes a winner in all aspects of life but becomes heavily dependent on the early morning calls from the other karthik. When his new found girlfriend Shonali(Deepika) insists that he keep no secrets, he is forced to reveal about the other Karthik. From now on the plot gets sinister as both Shonali and the psychiatrist try to stop him taking these calls and get help. I would have a given a lower score but there are seriously creepy moments in the film. But there are too many holes for example Karthik is supposedly a CA and IIM topper. You cannot get into IIM if you are that low on confidence, they look for leadership material. His parents never seem to care, wouldn't you care if your son mysteriously disappears for months. And why would a great looking girl like deepika fall for a vey ordinary Farhan and seek him even after his extremely weird behaviour.I will not mention more as that would completely reveal the anyway predictable plot. The suspense is very predictable and director never cares to explain the root cause of Karthik's behaviour. Farhan please stick to direction, you are seriously lacking in looks and an average actor.

Excellent movie
7 April 2007
This is a truly outstanding movie based on a real life story.Pankaj Kapur adds such passion to the character of the Doctor who spends 10 years of his life coming out with a vaccine against leprosy. In the process he totally ignores his wife Shabana azmi(again a great performance) and she is close to abandoning him. When finally he achieves the breakthrough he finds he has a bigger fight on his hands against the corrupt and lazy govt and scientific community. He gets no support from even his best friend a successful doctor(Vijayendra ghatge) due to jealousy.Though Vijayendra's wife played by deepa sahi sympathizes with Pankaj.Again a very subtle and good performance by Deepa Sahi. The climax forms the remaining story.Pankaj Kapur is definitely a great actor who somehow has not achieved by recognition he deserves. And this movie I think his best performance.

Disappointing film - wasted performances
14 November 2006
Everybody is crying at all times in the movie except khushboo the only character who makes sense in the movie. What could have been remarkable movie on motherly affection is a disaster with horrible script and direction.June is an orphan who adopts a Saritha as her mother when she finds her in a road side accident. What follows is a bonding between the two which is too unrealistic to swallow.I wish the director had spent some more time exploring the relationship before showing them all in tears for each other. Of course saritha has a son who seems sensible at times then is cast as selfish and in the end June fights for Saritha's custody through her lawyer friend khusboo.Though she wins the battle she ultimately loses the war.Surya does a waste appearance which makes no sense at all. I don't know why Jyotika is into this weepy mode in all her recent movies jillunu..,vettaiyadu.. and june r. You feel bad for her as she has put her heart and soul in a movie which doesn't deliver.Saritha should seriously avoid wearing clothes which don't suit her size. Not much of a performance from someone who did brilliantly in julie ganapathy.

boring movie
7 November 2006
Extremely slow movie. There are fine performances from all actors which is why above 5 score.Surya and Jyo are supposed to be this ideal husband and wife and we are shown this till it gets to a point you start asking is there a story. Then one day Jyo discovers Surya's diary to find his failed college love story .The college love story is totally unconvincing as Surya is an arrogant Senior who is always picking on Bhoomika, beats up her friend, yells at her in public and despite being terrified of him she falls in love for him.Even after that he continues to dominate her using crude language.I certainly could not appreciate the meek character played by Bhoomika, I don't think any self respecting woman will fall for such jerks in real life.So Jyo decides to bring them together and what happens after that is the climax. The story is extremely weak in its characters.A extremely arrogant Surya to Bhoomika is the exact opposite with Jyo( and there is no reason given for the sudden change in character).Again a extremely meek Bhoomika becomes a big extrovert when she returns.Wonder, if she had turned so super confident why didn't she try to find her love as she no longer feared anyone.
