The Boys (2019)
The Boys, is one of those shows that is absolutely worth your watch.
This show is absolutely phenomenal in the way that it tells a story. It feels like an extreme amount of creative effort & care has gone into the making of this show.
It has an extremely interesting premise which it explores thoroughly with care, every scene feels like it's contributing to something important, no moments feel wasted.
Each character has such a beautiful personal story going on within the fictional world & all of these little isolated story arcs are eventually tying back into help smoothly further the main storyline which always ends up going somewhere extremely interesting.
I think the entire film industry should be taking notes from the people who are making this show happen & I think this show deserves to be winning some god damn awards!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
The story itself is actually just insultingly lazy
This movie feels like something that had a lot of money thrown at it but whoever was in charge of the story clearly didn't care about the project.
Because the aspect that this whole story is leading to, isn't explained to the audience whatsoever & yet it is the most significant element of the story...
It's as though what was established in previous Star Wars films, no longer matters...
It feels like the director's mindset going into this movie was that you can just make significant events happen without actually having to explain why which is what this movie is in a nutshell.
I genuinely can't believe that the people making this movie thought that it was okay to treat a beloved franchise with such lazy writing...
This project just wreaks of being made for a quick cash grab, whoever was responsible for what I've just discussed, should do us all a favour & exit the movie industry.
Reacher (2022)
Real cool story experience & presentation
I enjoyed watching Reacher.
My introduction into this world was through the Tom Cruise version which I thought was real cool but I'm definitely finding myself more attracted to Alan Ritchson's version.
I admired the way this show was shot, feels like a scene is often clean & crisp, feels fresh on the eyes & really easy for my mind to take in everything.
I love the difficult situations that Reacher gets himself into & it's really fun to watch him think critically on how he's going to overcome a conflict.
I'm really drawn into this world because of the intellectual skills that are being displayed by Reacher as well as the fighting skills, the ethics of the character, the appearance of the character certainly adds to the whole appreciation aspect that I have for the show & the character.
I think that the show kind of finished the conflict in a bit of a lame & corny way but aside from this opinion, it was a good journey.
I'm keen to watch season 2.
The Bubble (2022)
Enjoyable, silly, funny, absurd.
It's an extremely silly movie that kind of goes nowhere with its main story so I can't say that I blame these reviews but what I would say is that I went into this movie looking for a laugh & I felt like I got one so this is my personal rating & I genuinely enjoyed watching this movie for reasons that I'll explain below.
This movie, with its most extreme exaggeration of problems that could occur within the film industry during a pandemic really gave me a new perspective, a new headspace, a different way to feel about the lifestyle, working within the Hollywood film industry. I think it's interesting when a film can change the way I feel about that whole lifestyle, especially since I'm usually fantasising about it.
I also found myself appreciating a large majority of the humour being expressed throughout the film & an appreciation for the creative brilliance behind some of the humour. Some styles of humour throughout this film I found to be really enjoyable.
I appreciated the absurdities within situations that were unfolding throughout this film.
There does exist a few scenes that really made me cringe, sort of like when they're randomly dancing or even having to watch a few scenes of cliff beasts 6.
Overall I personally enjoyed watching this movie. If I had to change anything about the film I'd probably rewrite the final act & really bring the absurdities of each individual situation to their absolute peak but that's all I have to say about the film.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Film felt like a rushed version of itself.
This film is really kind of a mixed bag. I feel confident about the rating that I have assigned to this film but I'm mostly going to talk about my personal criticisms.
I actually really liked the concept of the story, I do think they could have done a much better job at wrapping things up, especially when you consider all the new story elements that were introduced going into this film.
There are also small moments throughout the film where there is a struggle to feel naturally immersed into the tone of a scene.
Sometimes a dramatic situation is unfolding but it doesn't feel convincing, I'm talking about a situation looking so unnatural that you end up getting shifted into a stage-theatre viewing perspective, becoming aware that they're actors/actresses trying to play characters, acting out a situation.
Every issue I've stated above is really unique & did not exist so enormously when compared to the previous matrix movies, all of which I love & rate highly.
It just feels like the matrix resurrections wasn't planned out with the care & effort that it deserved. It felt like I watched the work of someone smart who had a great idea for a story but was ultimately trying to rush their assignment during the filming stages.
Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun (2020)
Bizarre, Whack, Funny, Creative
This project initially came across as a silly kids show & I think this impression stems from the first few moments of the opening scene so if you're not watching it properly afterwards, then that impression might stick with you.
But if you can put aside those initial feelings, if you can put down your phone and actually watch the show then it'll grow on you real fast.
Because the comedy is amazing, a lot of random small situations about daily life, suddenly turning real bizarre real quick. I love it so much.
I also appreciate how sketches temporarily lead to a different setting or different characters using the same actors, really diversifies the viewing experience & gives more range to the humour that these actors can provide.
This show has a lot creative brilliance going into it, some sketches are whack & not really that funny but I think the show easily has way more hits than it does misses.
I would recommend Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun to literally anyone who isn't too easily offended by foul language or foul ideas.
Terminator Genisys (2015)
An enjoyable movie
Terminator Genisys was actually a movie that reached my satisfaction. A very good improvement from the past terminator films. I thought the storyline was rather great and provided some good plot twists, it was serious when it needed to be and had some good little bits of comedy which didn't at all feel forced. I have seen all the terminator movies and it should leave the viewer much more satisfied than terminator salvation. Actors do a fine job and its good to see similar faces take on a different role in films like these seeing as some are really only just spicing up their career. I think anyone who isn't too judge-mental about how films story lines should go will be most satisfied with Terminator Genisys and I hope you come out feeling the same as I did about the movie.
Lost River (2014)
A bit weird
I really wanted to love this movie and add it to my top 20 movies even and I did throughout the first three quarters of it but after that I wasn't sure where it was going after that. I don't often write reviews so I'm sorry if this is pretty badly written. What attracted me to watch this movie in the first place was the fact that Matt Smith was in it as well that its Ryan Gosling's first movie that he's directed, and the fact that Iain (Bones) is also in agents of shield. After watching the movie I didn't hate it but I just didn't feel satisfied. Im not really that much of critic on the actors performance but as an average bob movie viewer I would say that they did their job just fine. it's a movie you can watch and feel that awesomely interesting vibe from it, but then you wonder where the story went after the last quarter and it just leaves you sitting there thinking okay, that wasn't the greatest way to end it?. All I can say is that last quarter felt rushed and leaves the viewer not completely feeling 10/10. I'll give it a 6/10 for the potential it started off with.
The Interview (2014)
Pretty all-good movie
This is my first review for IMDb so bear with me. The Interview, was a pretty awesome movie and perhaps i was in the right mood and conditions to watch it but I'm pretty sure anyone who isn't going to watch it on their computer alone will find it just fine. This film didn't join my list until the recent Sony Hack and it pretty much inspired me to get some information about North Korea and thus provided interest into watching the movie: The Interview. Basically as long as you aren't too serious about realism applied to this movie then you should find it to be fine all the same. I also hope that this movie is widely known across the world so that the Guardians of Peace attempt to stop this film, has only made it more popular. Rock On The Interview!!!!!
