This Is Actually What Epic Means
13 March 2023
To me the most overused word in modern pop culture is epic. It's used way too much. This movie actually is what was meant by the word epic. Not in the sense of the material and story being so overwhelming that it deserves that moniker but in the sense of presentation of vision. Dune clearly is one of the great science fiction novels of all time in terms of story and cultural impact so staying close to the novel guarantees some sort of return. This movie brought the actual vision to life. These scenes were painstakingly rendered and no expense was spared. You have to see it at home now but it's definitely the type of movie you want to sit and pay attention to and view on the best screen you have available with the best sound. I know this can't be done with all movie adaptations but my goodness this is the blueprint for how to get it done. Whatever type of movie fan you are SEE THIS MOVIE!

Then It Ends Perfectly
26 February 2023
I repeat my review of Part One:

I'm a long time comic reader and Batman was and still is my favorite character. This movie gets everything that makes him "The Detective" you love. I watched it a second time without the anticipation and it was sincerely better. He is human. He has doubts. He makes mistakes but he always uses his humanity to make him keep going. This movie pays homage to so many variations of The Dark Knight that have been shown over the years. You see all of what you loved of the tv versions, the movie versions and more importantly the comic versions and yet this Batman is unique. The people who put this together were purposeful and not just trying to make a dollar and I appreciated it. If you're a Batman fan this is a must see.

And add this: this ended the way it was supposed to with all of the humanity it began with and the movie says so much to you the viewer and to the characters within the movie about why all of this is important. Kudos to all involved for putting forth a quality product above and beyond what you had to.

Worst Test Screening In A Long Time
29 January 2023
I was and am a huge fan of the series. The series was a really smart fun take on a little known movie. Even as it began to run out of ideas I enjoyed the series. This movie is nothing but MTV's attempt to see if there's enough fuel for a reboot. Plain and simple. I am incredibly tolerant of entertainment I like going off the rails but because I like the ideas or actors I can survive it. I finished this movie only because I wanted to see if it would try to get better. It's like someone watched a couple of episodes disjointedly and tried to put in enough of the people and characters to make us nostalgic and then make us say "man I wish they would bring this back". I have rarely seen less effort (even down to the cgi) put into a project like this. I see why Stiles didn't come back. If you are the biggest Teen Wolf fan ever, don't see this movie. If you've never seen it and wonder what the fuss is? Watch the series.

Just A Fun Old School Homage
21 January 2023
You don't watch this movie for an Oscar experience. You watch this movie because you like Grillo (which I do) and Butler. This is another out of Grillo's production shop and if you have enjoyed those movies this is the best of them so far. Grillo likes to deliver a fun experience with each of these movies and this is a blast. It's like Tarantino in that it is an homage to all of the fun 70s action flicks and characters and is more a lot of good scenes than a cohesive story. The music, as always with Grillo, is also a blast and part of the story. Fun to sit down and enjoy after a long day on the job.

Well. Done
3 January 2023
I haven't read the other reviews and therefore don't know why it's not as well reviewed as it could be. I did see one title that was perfect. "Throwback". This is an updated late 70s quality spy film. It was so masterfully done and really well acted. I am a Pine and a Newton fan so I was going to watch this no matter what. I appreciate that Prime Video produced the movie. No way this makes any money in theaters. But if you like the old le Carre spy movies you have to enjoy this one. The twists are moderate twists. No got you moments but you just can't stop watching as it moves along. I don't lament movies like this but I do lament the fact that studios can't afford to produce these anymore because our society wants fast paced and shocking. Thanks to Pine and Newton for agreeing to do this and Prime Video for producing. This was a really well done old fashioned spy film about people and the costs of war.

The Flash: Armageddon, Part 4 (2021)

Best Flash episode since season 1
8 December 2021
Every single solitary reason I fell in love with this show and why it took over as my favorite after Season 1 over Arrow (which was great at the time). Everything you love about comics and The Flash was here. I've continued to watch it but like any show it just didn't have the.verve it had anymore but if this is a harbinger of things to come this season the Flash is truly back. Great job.
