The Bear: Bolognese (2023)
Back on track
Finally. I was about to give up on this show due to the previous two overrated episodes. Was just planning to finish this show as I had started it. One of the episodes was just too slow and the other was a whole lot of family shouting. I feel they could have somehow merged the two and spared us the misery.
Now coming back to 'Bolognese'. This episode was quite good. It had suspense, drama, emotion and most importantly, a sense of direction. The team is getting back together and finally things are in motion again. Love the character growth of Richie. He's the type of friend we all need. I just don't like Sydney's attitude, but I guess things can't be perfect.
Well, let's hope the final few episodes also hold up.
Kantara (2022)
Tumbbad this is NOT!
I went to this movie after listening to all the hype, and oh was I disappointed! There was almost nothing special or worth remembering. I agree there was probably a lot of effort put into it's making, but it didn't translate into an exciting cinematic experience at all. Issues remain unresolved, some things aren't explained.
Background music is average, I don't understand what reviewers were harping about! The acting is over dramatic, a lot of hamming. Only the police character was grounded.
The story was average, nothing special at all. Some plot points were just so convenient, to take the story in a particular direction.
The ending is average. What was the hype all about?
Please dont compare this movie to Tumbbad! It doesn't even come close to that masterpiece!
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Sad excuse of a revisit
I was excited to hear this was coming out, being a big fan of the original show. I didn't even mind the ending of the previous one. This show was bad. The writing was not engaging, the setting did not work, and the side characters were mediocre at best. There are some unresolved issues, which lead to nowhere. The mystery is not engaging at all. Michael C Hall tried his best, but even he could not recreate the magic of the previous show. The main villain acted well but is nowhere near the dread of someone like the trinity killer of the older show. If you thought the ending of Dexter was bad, oh my you are in for a bigger surprise here. This is a terrible ending. Dexter does things here which are completely out of character, probably just to bring and end to this show. Almost nothing redeeming, a waste of time.
