Christian fundamentalists make a movie
29 June 2010
Well i saw Knowing last night and the whole thing started out pretty interesting, Very M. Night Shayamalan'ish About midway in the film i started to see where the film was going, and trust me it was right down the crapper! Without going into details i can just say that our MIT scientist ( Played by Nicolas Cage) is a firm believer in science, but a number of events makes him change his mind and he ends up a believer. There are angels, garden of eden, the three of knowledge and all the other crap that makes religion a ridiculous notion. It is clear that the Christian fundamentalists and the creationists has entered Hollywood and is spewing their garbage. Films like this should be labeled just like music containing profanity is. In closing i will recommend you all log on to www.Richarddawkins.net And also Check out Bill Mahers Religilous.

Mr. Walken why did you bother?
25 November 2005
As an avid billiards and snooker fan i just had to see this movie, the fact that Christopher Walken was on board sounded promising, but no! This film sucks with a capitol S. Never in my life have i heard so cheesy dialog. The actors for the most part suck and its a pain to see Christopher Walken trying hes best with the script hes given, but even he falls flat on his face in this film. Even the monologue witch is Christophers trademark fails to impress because of the bad script. The pace of this film, or lack of makes you want to just turn the damn thing off. This film is obviously written and directed by someone who's a big fan of Quintin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Tony Scott, but hey being a fan of those people does NOT make you a great director/writer. Please Mars Callahan and Chris Corso don't make anymore films or scripts OK.

amazingly good

What more can i say about this film that already isn't said?... nothing. I just have to join in on the praise of this film. The story is so well told and bang up to date concerning racism and fascism. The acting is generally very good, but Ed Norton steal the show with he's amazingly believable performance. The story is told through the eyes of Dereks(Norton)little brother Danny(Furlong)It deals with racism in todays America and the frightening consequence's and historical misconceptions young men and women gets exposed to in a neo fascist environment. The hate and the belief that the white race is Superior overshadows all reason and logic. Without giving away too much of the plot i can only say that the consequences of Dereks way of life will have a deep impact for he's future and the future of he's family. An amazing film. If you still haven't seen it, get a copy today.

beautiful cinematography

I remember seeing this film when it came out, not really knowing what to expect. the only thing i knew about the film was that Nicolas Cage was in it. i saw it with my girlfriend and i remember that throughout the movie nobody made a sound, no annoying popcorn munchers, no one getting up to go to the toilet, just complete silence. And after the film was finished and the credits were rolling across the screen people still sat quiet in their seats. The film is beautifully played and directed. The sober jazz music from sting fits like a glove. To this day my girlfriend want let me see leaving las Vegas again because i get mellow and "preoccupied" for several days.

beautifully executed

From the first scene of the film we know this is not going to be your average Hollywood action flick. The story is being told through the eyes of two criminals who's accepted their fate as outcasts. by chance they come about the possibility to "earn" a lot of money. There's several twists and turns in the plot, its not hard to follow but the storytelling is a bit different, ala, Quintin Tarantino. The camera work is excellent with its yellow filter and gritty look. The acting is first rate, especially between del Toro and Ryan Rhilippe, the other actors give a good performance too. James Caan is cool in his role, but i feel that someone like Harvey Keitel would have suited the film better. The end of the movie has some frenetic, and highly realistic gun play and is an absolute joy to watch. In closing this film is a must have, but if your gonna see it for the first time be aware if you are faint of heart and get easily confused.

The Village (2004)

Dissaponting from M. Night Shyamalan
3 February 2005
I liked sixth and unbreakable, but was disappointed by Signs and the slow paced story telling it offered. I think that The Village has much in common with signs in regards to how the story is told. for me its simply to slow and there is no twist or crescendo at the end to justify the almost two hour long buildup. The story is also too transparent, i think it took me about ten minutes to figure out the plot. The acting was OK, but not anything special considering the cast. especially Sigourney weaver got little or no possibilities to show of her talents. I would also like to note that the trailers for the movie was misleading in terms of what kind of atmosphere and genre this movie is in. The trailers give a feeling of a horror movie, which it's far from the truth. I hope this was just a detour for shyamalan and that he's back on track for he's next adventure.
