The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
Could have been a masterpiece
This could well have been a masterpiece, were it not for the major plot hole mentioned in IMDB goofs, and others like when the crew knows it can fly, they don't abandon their plan of sinking ship (the beast can simply fly off to coast, right?).
Also, a lot of things go unexplained. I understand that this is just one chapter in a complete novel and is not supposed to be a standalone story. But It could have done much better if it were treated as a standalone story.
Rest seems good. Acting is fine. Direction is ok. Overall entertaining movie. Characters are a bit weak though. Some of them are simply supposed to be prey.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Less than average movie, close to B type
MCU is dead. It is official. They can't produce any good movie anymore. It would be a safe bet to not watch their upcoming movies as they will involve this lethargic concept of multi-verse. How much of the same thing with the only difference of theme can people keep watching?
About this movie, the story is meh, full of cliches, and the plot is quite predictable. It is nothing like the first ant-man movie.
Animations are overdone, very flashy sometimes and not good for weak eyes. They aren't beautiful either.
Only save here is the acting by senior actors.
Verdict: save your money and time. Don't watch.
The Devil's Brigade (1968)
Old Trash
Badly executed b u l l s h i t American war propaganda B movie!
Well, I am not saying all Hollywood war movies are not propaganda (almost all are), but this one has extra credit of being s h i t t i e r than the rest. Badly executed and directed. Acting is ok. Story is ok. Characters are shallow.
Does have a couple funny moments though.
IMDB is forcing to write at least 600 characters for the review but I don't have anything else to say. What else could I say?
Anyway, this movie would have failed today as well with that all-white cast. But then again, who would have dared make a movie with all-white cast in 21st century?
The Insider (1999)
Dragged story and unnecessary drama
This movie could have been wrapped up within an hour. Unnecessary details and drama made it too long and boring.
What saves it from total failure are Pacino and Russel.
Free Guy (2021)
OK but Wasted Potential
This movie had the potential to reach the levels of The Matrix and The Thirteenth Floor, as well as that of The Truman Show, but cliches and lack of research into IT crippled it (for example, the makers of the movie seem to have no idea how servers work). Still, I am giving it 7 stars as it was somewhat entertaining AND it gave me sort of an insight by the end of the movie.
Kesari (2019)
A Bit Impressive Actually
Keeping aside the usual Bollywood crap of unnecessary songs and romance along with propaganda, the movie is quite good, as it has many 'references' of famous movies and has been heavily inspired by Hollywood. While watching it, I was reminded of the following:
- Jon Snow and his men of the Night's Watch
- 300
- Saving Private Ryan
- Samurai Jack
- Enemy at the Gates
Gemini Man (2019)
One Man to Ruin it All!!
While watching the movie I was wondering why does it suck so much! Everything seems good: story, plot, characters, actors, all good. Then credits rolled in and the name shone brightly on screen!
DAVID BENIOFF!!
And I said yeah. Now it makes sense.
For somebody who could ruin something phenomenal like GoT, this was nothing!
Saints and Soldiers (2003)
Low Budget Cliche Ridden Nonsense
They tried to make another Saving Private Ryan. . . and failed miserably. It would have made a better movie if they had shot the director too at the end. What was the plot? Why were the characters acting so strange? Nothing made sense, including the high rating. Plus point, you only have to suffer it for just 90 minutes. Be thankful because the director could have stretched this ten minute story to three hours.
Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
Why the high rating?
This movie is okay, but not something you would give an 8/10 rating. Probably it was the US audience who were more impressed with it. Average story, average acting.
The Cell (2000)
J Lo Didn't Show
Watched it for the sole reason of seeing J Lo's assets. She showed neither her assets, nor any other talent. Disappointed.
Shark Tale (2004)
Cringe-worthy and Over-emphasized
I am sure this movie is a big embarrassment for both Smith and DeNiro.
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Cliches, CGI, Transformers and more cliches
This movie . . . yaaaawwwwwnnn . . . is . . . yawnnnn . . . never mind.
Black Swan (2010)
Overrated Noisy Mess
At first I didn't get it. Then it dawned on me that this is an attempt at making psychological thriller. The psycho part is good, with Portman's acting. The story is very predictable, almost cliche.
Sexy? Well, to some it may be. For me it was all ugly lingerie worn by uglier chicks.
And noise, too much noise in the name of music.
Bit still the movie is a bit interesting, slightly above average.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
B-Movie Hiding behind CGI
Seriously? These guys spent so much money to create this! Any good director could have produced two good movies in this budget. Those who have never watched a movie might like it. For me it was all cliche.
Primer (2004)
Poorly Directed
I am a big fan of the time travel concept and movies, that is why giving it three stars. Otherwise, I had to see the wikipedia page of this movie to find out what the plot actually was! Of course, I found out, the plot was good, but I couldn't follow it while watching it, and I have followed the plots of all time travel movies I have watched. I can forgive the producer, director and actors because it was a very low budget film, but please don't make such crap again.
The Abyss (1989)
Crap wins Oscar!
Giving this boring, too long piece of crap 3 stars for the visual effects of 1989, for which somebody out of their mind gave it an Oscar. Otherwise, it deserves 0.
Black Panther (2018)
Overrated, cliched movie that kills expectations
I am quite surprised how this movie did so much business? There is nothing new in the story. The writers have managed to put in a plot twist, but it's so poor it does not even surprise. It's like you already know it. Action sequences are a bit good, but too short. Acting is horrible. At best, this movie can be called average.
Casablanca (1942)
Highly Overrated Noisy Movie
I believe this movie has been given a high rating because it is OLD! Otherwise, there is nothing much interesting in it. Acting is mediocre, music is just noise. Story/plot can be easily guessed. Only direction compensates a bit, for which I give this five stars. Not recommended. If it had been produced in today's movie world, it would have been in danger of being a B movie.
San Andreas Quake (2015)
Disaster of a Disaster Movie
I am a big fan of disaster movies, which is the reason I am giving this movie 3 out of 10. Otherwise, it deserves only 1/10. Why? Let's find out. First, acting. I believe some wooden planks painted with human faces could have acted better. The main protagonist, the professor lady, acts throughout the movie like she has just found the love of her life. She clearly can't control the predominant happy expression (may be because of the chance she got at acting). Other characters are also trying their best to beat her at bad acting, apart from the old couple. Bad acting could have been compensated by good story line, but alas! It seems money is really cheap to spend on such projects. The story (if there is one) is full of plot holes as big as the craters left after the earthquake. Also it seems the writer hates the very word of logic. About the visual effects. I read in another review that some 10 years old made them. No Sir! I am sure a 10 years old would have done much better. To sum up things, Don't Watch.
Batoru rowaiaru (2000)
Rather Boring. No surprises
I watched this movie, and I sincerely believe that the director of this movie should have been the first one to go down in the battle of kids, because the director must also be a kid. Who else would waste money on such crap? But may be I am wrong. It is a very low budget movie. So they probably didn't waste much. There are so many loopholes that one can expect one after every five minutes. Also, the story is extremely guess- able. I knew who would survive quickly enough, and I was right. However, the movie did provide some entertainment, the reason I am not giving it a rating of 1. I particularly liked the nerds. They should have been given more time.
Gone Baby Gone (2007)
I am so glad I saved my one and half hour!
I have been watching Hollywood movies for a while now. I have developed this interesting sense that tells me whether a movie is watchable or not, right after the first 10 or 15 minutes. When I started to watch this movie, I immediately knew this was going to be a big bore. However, I kept hope that it may turn interesting (knowing that Morgan Freeman was there). After 23 minutes of watching, my patience ran out. So I simply fast forwarded it. Gladly, I found that the movie is bull$h!t. But I was still intrigued. I might have missed a great movie. So I went to wikipedia, searched it and read the plot. Sigh of relief came as the plot also turned out the same crap I expected. So my dear reader! DON'T watch it if you have the slightest regard for your time. It is so boring it should be renamed to "$h!t Baby $h!t".
JFK (1991)
A Movie with Obvious Story and No Surprises
I tried to watch this movie twice. The first time I got fed up after one hour. The second time I started the movie where I had left it the first time. I could watch for only about ten minutes. Then I fast forwarded it and watched the last few minutes. I didn't need to watch the whole movie as the end was exactly as I had imagined. Acting and direction etc were good, no doubt, but the story could have been told in less than 90 minutes instead of 180. All in all, a disappointing movie. No entertainment. I am glad I didn't waste much of my time watching each and every detail. Somethings you already know, and there is no use repeating the obvious, however dramatic it may be.
Prisoners (2013)
Death by Boredom: Prisoners
Yes, that should be the proper name; Death by Boredom: Prisoners. If I say I am fuming, smoldering, and boiling with rage after wasting my precious two and a half hours by watching this... this... "movie", I would be lying, because i am not in rage any more. I am already dead with boredom. For the first time I have found out that having above 8 ratings on IMDb does not necessarily mean the movie is good. I ask all the raters who rated is this high, are you serious guys? Do you really think it is a movie? Did you really like it? Or did somebody pay you to rate it this high? If so please tell me who, not because I want to be paid; it's because I want to sue that person for hoodwink. IMDb!! You are losing your authenticity for interesting movies. Mark my words.
Bounty Killer (2013)
You call it a movie???
This is not a movie. This is the result of mental indigestion (in other words, this is sh*t). Watching it infuriated me so much that I decided to make this account, and rate it as lowest as I could. It wasted my precious one and a half hours. Tell me how, and most importantly, why, do these directors and producers waste money and resources to come up with such crap? What is the incentive? To bore people to death? or to tell them they are not alone in a world full of idiots, and that the competition is high? So the bottom line is: Don't waste your time watching this b*llsh*t. A seminar on accounting principles of the modern economy might be more interesting.
