Not what I hoped for...

The show has decent characters and some solid lines but the interconnectedness is uninspired and lacking any kind of realism. I understand most people don't look for realism in sci-fi but without a strong foundation the ability to suspend disbelief is destroyed.

Most Lovecraftian thing about this was that it almost drove me insane!

This "movie" was terrible. The DP should be shot. They clearly spent no time on development, rehearsal, or scouting locations. That the producer sold belongings to get this movie made is profoundly sad and I hope he received treatment for whatever malady caused him to feel such fervor for this film. Uwe Boll movies MIGHT be better and they are among the worst films around. I was especially disappointed in Cara Buono's performance as I have enjoyed her work before.

Characters smile at inappropriate times for no discernible reason. Camera work to set the mood was a complete failure and annoying in its presentation. Subplots are picked up and immediately ignored. Motivations are hazy at best. No special effects to enhance the story. Absolutely nothing of Lovecraft in this movie except the title. The highlight of the film was when I sent it back to Netflix. Ugh!

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
Conan the Barbarian reboot was disappointingly average. The acting was solid, but dialog was often weak, art direction was uninspired and directing was poor at best. Not one single good transition between scenes in the entire movie. Only the first fight sequence was very good, the rest were meh. The director and writer should go see Rise of the Planet of the Apes to see how a franchise is rebooted well and with nods to the original. The "mystery of steel"? Really? And the ramshackle Cimmerians with stick and hide huts but a well built forge and a reputation for being great smiths couldn't make nails for better housing? I had no problems with Momoa as Conan and his dialog about women and fighting was the only thing truly Conan about this film. I could go on about the dropped subplots and the inconsistencies with story, but that would just show my ire at not seeing what I hoped for: a new start for a great character.
