Wake, Rattle & Roll (1990)
How I wish I could see this baby again...
Oh, my God- I was only in preschool when this happened- only it was known as "Jump, Rattle and Roll", and was shown on the Disney Channel. I watched it every chance I could. What I wouldn't give to see D.E.C.K.S. (Digital Electrosonic Cassette-Headed Kinematic System) and Sam have a rip-roaring time in their basement again, with KC and Grandpa Quirk popping up every chance THEY could... oh, and let's not forget the 'toons that made WRR the phenomenon it was: "Fender Bender 500" (a sort-of-"Wacky Races" for the 21st century) and "Monster Tails" (a haunted zoo under the lead of Igor's son). Oh, how I wish the whole show could come back on DVD!
Mahô no purinsesu Minkî Momo (1987)
One of a Kind...
I just checked this film last night and watched it this morning. Believe me, this was one GOLDEN OLDIE, during a time when anime was at its height! Little did I know that Princess Gigi was actually the Minki-Momo of Japanese fame. How could the folks at MLAATR ("My Life as a Teenage Robot") incorporate that into a song?! Anyway, with all those hilarious, joke-ridden voices, awesome effects, and those minor-seventh piano chords and guitar riffs that totally screamed anime, it really got its message through: to follow your dreams. It's been a small asset from my "anime capital"-- that's what I call money set aside to buy anime merchandise-- and I hope the folks at Ashi Co., Ltd. will work hard to bring more greats like "Magical Princess Gigi"!
Tom and Jerry Blast Off to Mars! (2005)
In the Beginning...
I saw this film yesterday this morning, and let me tell you, the opening scene was just hilarious! The living room was my favorite part, because of all those ancient artifacts inside. In my opinion, that's my idea of a living room. Too bad our favorite "friend-and-foe-alike" twosome let their antics make such an exquisite room go to waste! The kitchen part, however, was too commonplace. It's the same old iron-board, sink-full-of-dishes, flaming-oven-burners gag, etc., etc., etc.... at least I'm glad there's no lady of the house to give Tom a piece of her mind, no matter how we see her, be it full-body OR from the waist down.
