Louise (Take 2) (1998)
beautiful in every way
This is an incrediblly beautiful french Movie. Its a story about a group of young people and about their search for freedom and love and the conventions which keep them away from attaining these highest off all human goods. Conventions that both are part of the society they live in and the mere constitution of their own souls. I just love the shaky camera and smooth urban/hip-hop/Jazz soundtrack. The actors play their roles with such a realistic perfection that you actually think you're wondering with them through the streets of Paris. The Plot is more of a secondary importance. this movie is more about the poetic images and the down to life dialogs and has more the aspect of a short glimpse into the lives of its characters than of an exactly scripted story. Because this movie tries to show life trough the lens of a handy-cam and life is not scripted like a big Hollywood production.
xXx (2002)
Oh god Lundgren with a way bigger budget! what a waste of time and money!
oh my god is this a crappy movie!!!! Who could possibly like this smeg??!??
Oh!! now he eliminates a whole drug-smugglers camp with a motorcycle, now he jumps from a plane, blah, blah..boom..boom..blah..blah..boom..boom
No seriously this is not a movie it's more of an endlessly long universal- studios-stunt-show-rip-off. Vin Diesel is the worst actor i've ever seen, and whats up with Samuel L. Jackson? he must have been drunk as he accepted to be a part of this. shame on you man! Sorry and whats with all the sucky macho-action-attitude stuff?? don't get me wrong i like a good Arnie flick once in a while. so don't think i don't get the point that xXx is meant to be a cool brainless action-flick. The fact is that Diesel (unlike Arnie, Snipes, Stallone or Willis) even fails to deliver that kind of cool action-hero attitude and humor one finds in all those classic brainless action-flicks like True Lies, the Die Hard series or the Escape from.. films. Worst of all this film isn't entertaining at all. you'll just sit there and watch one stupid stunt, one brainless uncool line of dialog after another and pray it's over soon. I didn't get that far though, i had to turn the DVD-player off after 30 minutes because i could'nt stand the stupidity of this movie. In my opinion don't even think of watching this crap even if you love action movies.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
good one but not the "second best of all time"...
I cant understand why this movie got such a high rating. its a good movie but there are lots of others that deserve to be number 2 in the "best of all time list" (american beauty, pulp fiction, Chaplin's, Buñuel's or Kubrick's movies, just to name a few). Well..I'm an old Stephen King fan and the story of "Redemtion" is good and thrilling and the acting and photography is good as well but its nothing that has'nt been made before. don't get me wrong i liked it but i think its just a well made entertaining picture and nothing more.
So watch it and have a good time but don't expect an artistically great work or something all too original.
