Suicide Squad (2016)
Suicide Squad Shines With Harley Quinn, But Lacks With Narration
A highly anticipated superhero flick in the list, after Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad amplified high assumptions all over, but coming to the point the 2 most salient features of the film was A team of bad guys taking lead job & Jared Leto's Joker re-incarnation. The cast of bad guys suited up perfectly, but glooms in their light-toned characterizations.
Star of the show Jared Leto's joker role made fans as well as movie-goers enthralled in the trailers, but coming to the scenario, his takeover was not distinct, despite joker's lady-love Harley Quinn shined the screen in every moment she steps in. Margot Robbie as harley was the film's main merit and makes us wants more of her titillating witty.
Moreover, the film lacks in authentic narration which every fan expects, Director David Ayer's notion of storytelling was fine, but conveying lead roles past-present relating events, origins and the squad's team up events messed up & makes this an average superheroes gone wrong flick which shouldn't happen.
The Night Before (2015)
Periodically Rises and Sequentially Loses
The Night Before Christmas Eve., was a glory day for all over, but the movie doesn't much stand up to its mark, Even though it gives some low belly laughs.
Coming to the plot, 3 childhood friends Ethan (Joseph Gordon- Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) make a tradition of meeting every year before Christmas eve and spending the day of the year as a whole. Ethan was a goodly-made A-hole who find excuses for everything he works. Isaac was a friendly unbearable innocent stupid who doesn't open up with his own wife about their life. Chris, a famous smart yet idiotic athlete who wants be famous all the time, periodically wrongs himself and his friends with money and fame.
The three pal's last reunite for the Christmas eve should be big as hell for ethan, because he doesn't have a family except his pals, but the remaining duo were out of order than previous due to their own family and fame. This part brings the comedy into the film.
The trio's comic chemistry was excellent as Christmas eve, with a few laughs at the table. Making a movie to say about the friendship and relations on the great Christmas eve was quite interesting but it doesn't have to consist too heavy unnecessary humor.
The comic periodically Rises and Sequentially loses in its pace but it needs some homework on the face portion with having a talented actors in the leads. Other than that, it was a cool weekend film
Total Recall (1990)
Brilliant Entertaining Satirical Si-Fi Ride
Philip K. Dick's novel "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" was a masterpiece in science fiction genre, an adaptation of it was an expanse entertainer. Director Paul Verhoeven made every moment lively and exciting throughout, with a stimulation screenplay the movie gets high and high on every moment with its spark-tone of visuals and dark humor of the actors. Arnold's expressive acting style and story's mind bending lines make us not to leave it behind. Coming to the plot, it was a elegant complex story which throws out some satirical snaps out of it with leaving us to make out what was dream and what was reality.
Great movie in its genre, but it has the potential to go larger extent with its complex concept.
A Christmas Carol (2009)
A visual Delicacy With a Mediocre Takeover
Charles Dickens classic tale "A Christmas carol" was a piece of envision journey through humane and morality things. This adaptation was quite good with its delightful visual style and tone, but director Robert Zemeckis made it too slow inits pace and delivering the content.
Coming to the visuals it was a motion capture computer generated image film which was an innovative and fascinating in every moment. A delightful sight of humans ethics ans perception.
The actors were marvelous as they were every time, mostly Jim Carrey the comedy king who depicts the story within himself in three different roles and emotions.
Portraying the aftermath of a human with three ghosts of past, present and future in one dream on the eve of Christmas night was a level of balancing the human with god making everyone happy and his life meaningful, but the storytelling of the film was a bit too slow paced which makes you impatient .....Good, can be GREAT
Concussion (2015)
Concussion was "Will Smith's Soul" : I consider him "The Drama King"
From beginning of the trailer release to now, i was awaited for this one than any other movie in this year, now i feel like my waiting worth it. A thought-provoking & compelling drama about the NFL. To say about this movie, is to say about will smith 1st. From accent to acting, Will Smith was so ground breaking in his role. He was the beating heart of this movie. An "Oscar" Worthy performance.
Direction was good, but the script was quite simple, that it was slow in execution and seems like nothing really accomplished in the end., but the good point about this movie was, when you are watching you feel like it was a bit slow, but in the ending you want it more.
"It was good, but it can be great." It was a "must known by everyone" movie which depicts the flaws of our world of what we love and admire.
"If people loves something, they pretend it was all good even it was bad."
Black Mass (2015)
Less than anticipated
Expected more, as it was a bio-pic of the criminal lord Whitey Bulger, and more over Johnny Depp was doing it, coming to the movie, it was straight-forward dive into the kingpin's life, when it comes to the direction scott Cooper does a decent job in handling only a piece, of unveiling friendship b/w bulger and his alliance John Connolly. Depp was controlled, measured and sweeping against all odds. But the main sad thing was,it was not more than an alliance between two southies in boston, it delivers a vile piece of criminal story with gloomy performances from the solid-rock actors. Rather than a film, it was better to watch a documentary on Bulger to get more close to the true events.
Breathe In (2013)
Intense yet disturbing drama
I was a fan of director Drake Doremus after watchin' his "Like Crazy", the main reason of watching these movie despite of the reviews and ratings, was felicity jones & the direcor. The movie was an intense drama with solid performances from Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones, delivering the delicacy intimation of troubled unveiled emotions inside a married yet a father and an 18-years old girl. May be some find the plot line was disturbing, the film made it up with its measured direction and BGM. what bugs me about the movie was, what happens to Sophie(Felicity Jones) aftermath of the family's exploiting reunion.?? i really need to know what she does with her insecurities and independent little girl inside her?
A movie which makes us think twice of ourselves(for those who simply gets involved in this film)
Wet Hot American Summer (2001)
Unexpected comic rise in an expected storyline
1st of all, i feel love watching comedy movies i.e., more often a high school, scout guides and camp comedies. This movie is well written in its own satirical way, making parody with exhibiting an inner story of depicting topics like teenage sexualities, fun at an age, expressing love. Watching every next moment of the film gets me high with its mocking irony towards each other & at the same making low with its sometimes lame expected lines. last day of summer camp makes you feel sad, but last day of the summer camp gives you the joy of the whole camp. Hilarious at yet underrated and yet a best summer camp movie after all these years .... Watch it for getting through your idiotic memories.......
