You, Me and Dupree (2006)
Cute, but not too funny
I'm kinda disappointed with how this movie turned out. Some very good actors and I'm a big Owen Wilson fan, but I was NEVER laughing out loud. Through the whole movie!! There were some 'sorta- funny' parts, but nothing too great. It was a cute story, but there were too many plot lines!! All the funny jokes, had been shown over and over again during the previews and now we're just old and stale. Other than that, the other jokes weren't very funny. I am not pleasantly surprised at all! and I must say that the critics were dead on with this one. Although, I could be exaggerating a bit. After all, I just spent a lot of money seeing it in theaters. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more, had I rented it. Once again, my expectations ruin the movie for me. I just thought this movie had SO much potential and great actors and they could have done so much more with the plot lines and the over all script and the jokes. Not too say I can't take the odd sex and toilet humor because I can... these ones just weren't very funny!
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)
Odd, but enjoyable
I can definitely see how you could dislike this movie if you expect it to be something that it's not and then leave the theater feeling disappointed and mislead, as with all movies when you have expectations that aren't met. Although, this movie was exactly what I thought it would be. Quirky and Odd, but still enjoyable to watch. It was well done and quite funny. Maybe not a theater movie, but for sure a cute rent able. From start to finish, there is tons of action and even though it seemed as if it had quite a few endings, the ending were enjoyable and you weren't waiting at the door with your jacket on, about to bolt from the theater with impatience. I can see how you can dislike this movie and how you can like it, all depending on what you go in there expecting to see.
John Tucker Must Die (2006)
Better than I expected, although I expected the worst
When I walked into to see this movie, I was not looking forward to it in THE LEAST. I was just coming to see it because a friend wanted to and I hadn't been out of the house in a while. So, I expected the worst possible thing. Now it wasn't the worst possible thing and so that is why I think I didn't mind it very much. That is not to say it is that great. If you are expecting something AMAZING, it's not. It's just a pointless chick flick, reusing familiar jokes over and over. Some of these jokes were funny, but very old and worn out. If you are a female under 18 years of age looking for a non-thought provoking movie, than this is your movie!
Hide and Seek (2005)
Lots of anticipation
Diffently worth renting. I'm not sure that the movie would be any scarier if it was seen in theaters, since the whole movie builds you up with tones of anticipation, so you basically scare yourself. I guess that counts too though. As Alfred Hitchcock said, "There's no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it."
Robert DeNiro was amazing and acted very well side-by-side Dakota Fanning, who was quite good at playing this role as well.
As much as I liked this movie and definitely think it's worth watching, I thought the original ending was a bit dragged out. (Great twist, though).
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)
Cute, corny, but still funny
The first one was better, but that was expected and in my personal opinion in my better then the gossip has let on. As my Summary said it was cute, corny and funny. There were some awkward twists during the end:(lesbian co-worker, hint, hint). Hugh didn't have as much of a part in this movie as the first and I do enjoy seeing his presents. I still don't think Bridget and Mark were quite the great couple. I see her and Hugh better together in this film and this this film Hugh was a major jerk. I did have quite a few laughs in this movie and I don't mean the occasional giggle, but a full bellying burst out hysterical laugh. I'm glad that this movie wasn't as bad as EVERYONE made it out to be because I am quite a fan of the Bridget Jones series, but better luck next time, Bridge.(If there is one) P.S.-Why the heck was she making SUCH a big deal that they had dated ONLY 6 weeks and a few days. Like come one, that still has the option to go either way(major fling or romantic wedding). It when the corny predictable way, but that's why people watch this movie: To get the happy, fairy tale ending, with a few laughs in between!!
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
Good, but not Great
I had heard many great things about this movie and me being a fan of Will Ferrel was very excited to watch it. I WAS NOT IMPRESSED! There were very few laughs in this movie and they were never full fledged hysterical laughs. These were mild giggles and very few of them, I might add. I was not impressed, since this was a cute little story line with some great stars, even if they were only making two minute scene guests appearance's. I'm still a big fan of Will Ferrel's but a even lesser fan of Christina Applegate, considering that i wasn't a fan of hers to begin with. At one point I was even begging for the movie to end. It was just a major yawn. Better luck next time, Will!
Troy (2004)
Very Entertaining
It was a very entertaining movie. it had violence, but that was expected, being a war movie and all. I was glad that there weren't many sex scene's and I liked how the director and writer took a story that we had probably studied in school and heard of from time to time and this movie took that story and expanded it. Through out the movie it also explained some sayings such as Acheailles heel. This is a very entertaining movie and it had a story, which you have to be careful with action movies. Sometimes they are solely based on war and fighting. The ending was good and you didn't know how you wanted the ending to end because i think most of us were voting for Troy, but then there was Brad Pitt from the Greeks, who of course you didn't want to die either. I was pleased with the ending and the whole movie. And did anyone notice how fir Bradd is??
The Forgotten (2004)
Missing Something
This movie had a good story and good acting and it flashed back during the movie which is always nice to see in thrillers. I did notice that this movie was missing something. It wasn't exactly a scary story, but while watching this movie you realized that this could be happening to you. There were a few shocking parts that sorta scared you, but this movie didn't have the special stuff where you look under the bed before you go to sleep sorta scary. I didn't enjoy the sci-fi, thriller mix which they put in the movie, although it was bold of them to try it out. This is a movie I think everyone should see because it's not bad, and it's not amazing. It's a happy medium, which is nice to see in this day and age. Usually they try too hard and the horror movie ends up becoming corny and predictable. This was oddly refreshing, but go see it for yourself.
The Pacifier (2005)
A totally pointless movie
This movie was horrible! Vin Diesel cannot act, as I noticed not many people could in this movie. The writing of this movie was based to much on the baby's diapers and what was the point of the nanny. She appeared in only like two minutes of the movie and one of those minutes was her doing the Panda Dance. It was trying to get a few laughs at every possible part and it wasn't EVER funny. This movie had a predictable ending and worst of all a love interest!! oh my god, even thinking about this movie makes me want to vomit! I have never seen Bringing Down The House, but I have heard that these two movies shared the same producer and I would hate to see what Bringing Down The House is like. This mov1e had a lot of possible good potential, with so many stars, but this was like one of those movie barely worth renting and when you do, your not happy with it. This movie could NEVER be great, but with a little work it could brim on almost good.
The Sure Thing (1985)
Written Well
A very good film. One of those movies where you can see it again and again. When I first read about this movie, it seemed pretty typical, but even though the story line was basic, the writing was done amazingly and the acting was fantastic. Even though a predictable ending, viewers of this movie would have wanted it that way. The ending was cute a different, yet still happy. Good acting. Funny, yet cute. Any ages can see it, even though it's based on teens. If you haven't already seen it, then see it. If you've already seen it, buy it. If you've bought it then you shouldn't be reading this. You should be watching it over and over again!!
