Gojira: Fainaru uôzu (2004)
Entertainment value overides the films flaws
Final Wars often gets an unjustified amount of hate from a large portion of the Gfandom and for what? For being one hell of a fun time? Final Wars is not a movie your supposed to take seriously, your only supposed to have fun. Grab a beer and a joint or any personal preference of drug. Sit back and have a good time watching Godzilla beat the shit out of half his rogues gallery, stop an alien invasion and destroy an asteroid before it collides with earth! What more could you ask for from a Godzilla movie?
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
The mcdonalds of the movie industry pumps out another movie!
And as usual it's garbage. Only watched approximately ten minutes, couldn't stand to bear it any longer- IT"S THAT BAD! Hopefully people will get tired of these movies and the Marvel cinematic universe will die! Do you think I'am hoping for too much?
Gojira: Kaijû Wakusei (2017)
Much better than Shin Godzilla in my opinion!
After Toho tarnished Godzilla with Shin's ugly ass face, my expectations for future Toho films were in the dirt. I'am not a fan of movies that warp or dilute Godzilla. And thankfully this is not one of those films. I went in with low expectations and found my self pleasantly suprized with Planet of Monsters. So Planet of Monsters is the first time Godzillla has ever been animated, unfortunately with cgi. But thankfully it's pretty well done and Godzilla himself looks fantastic, even if he only shows up for three minutes right after his son is blown to smithereens! Yeah you read that right only three minutes; the rest of the monster screen time in the movie is relegated mostly to his son. And also some classic Toho monsters get brief cameos at the beginning. Most of the monster action is close to the end and there isn't necessarily a lot of it either. But what is there is very good. There are a lot of human characters in this movie and none of them are very well fleshed out, there all mostly one dimensional. Although the dubbing is not too shabby so they do at least come off as charismatic. Overall I'd say this is a fun, tense movie, one of the better Godzilla films for sure.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Everything in this movie is superficial, just pr...
Everything in this movie is superficial, just pretty imagery and emotional music trying to pull your heart strings. The characters in this movie are generic stoic anime characters, and they are extremely underdeveloped at that. The movie wastes time with these stupid mtv moments, were some bands songs will start playing and everything goes into fast forward. It's a complete waste considering that time could have been spent developing the paper thin characters a little more. Magic plays a big part in Your Name because the writer couldn't figure out how to cover up all the obvious plot holes.Magic always saves the day conveniently, and when ever something goes wrong. It just feels contrived, like it's only happening to make you feel sad. Don't waste your time with this overrated trash, it's as shallow as a porn star!
Gojira-Minira-Gabara: Oru kaijû daishingeki (1969)
This is the worest Godzilla movie ever made!
If you ask a Godzilla fan what's the worst Godzilla movie ever made and they don't say it's this one-there clearly lying to you. This movie has NO redeemable quality's,there is no reason you should have to suffer through this annoying garbage. this is the pits when it comes to Godzilla movies, the producers and director just didn't give a F*U*C*K anymore and wanted to make a quick-cheap buck on Godzilla's name! DON'T watch this no matter how big a Godzilla fan you are, trust me I'am trying to save your brain cells.
Godzilla (1998)
Huh how strange a movie called Godzilla, that doesn't actually feature the titular monster!
So this movies about a giant mutated iguana which decides to stomp around New York for absolutely no reason. After stomping around for a little while it gets scared off by the military. After barely escaping a military assault with it's life, it comes to the brilliant conclusion that New York city is the safest place to start a nest! Hah what an intelligent animal! And then at the end it gets killed by a couple of missiles from a few jets.
I sincerely thought that this pathetic;wimpy monster would be canon fodder for Godzilla for quiet some time. And then a worthy opponent would show up towards the end to do battle with Godzilla. BUT GODZILLA NEVER SHOWED UP! Most misleadingly titled movie ever!
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Star Wars The Force yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn!
Wow this really is one of the most sleep inducing, yet financial and critically successful movies I have ever seen. Well it's quite obvious Disney knows exactly what they are doing, there targeting the biggest fan base in existence. The Star Wars fans! But it's not only the fans of Star Wars that run out to see this crap in cinemas, it's just about every living person. And do you want to know why? Because Star Wars is a huge event, an unavoidable event!you'll eventually get around to watching even if your not a fan of Star Wars, it's almost like a curse.
I'm going to make this review as short as possible because I honestly don't feel like wasting to much time talking about this film.
Okay, this movie seems completely pointless it undermines all the struggles the characters of the original trilogy went through. All they're efforts where for absolutely nothing. Because good and evil are stuck in an endless battle, neither will ever truly vanquish the other. There's a great sense of repetition, the events of A New Hope are literally repeating here! This is practically a remake of A New Hope, and a very uninventive remake at at! The main characters are all new; although a couple of oldies make a return beside the new ones. The leading protagonist is a one dimensional mary sue who becomes a jedi master in a matter of hours. secondary protagonist is a rouge storm trooper who is a bumbling idiot that cannot accomplish anything competently. All the characters are unlikable. I went in hoping to see Mark Hamill reprise his role as Luke Stalker unfortunately he only shows up at the end for five seconds and has no dialogue. Alright, that's it, I'am going to wrap this up; bottom line this is a VERY boring movie! Don't give Disney your money because they haven't earned it!
Rogue One (2016)
Star Wars A snoozefest story
Wow this is a really dull movie, I could hardly stay awake. Edwards continues his trend of making movies that put intelligent people to sleep and entertain the simple minded masses. Three thirds of this movie don't even feel like Star Wars, could be any other sci if film. There are no jedis, no lightsabers and no space battles. Although darthvader does show up for a couple of minutes, he breaths some life into this hollow husk of a film but not enough to save the viewer from boredom. There are a lot of newly introduced characters in this movie, and they are all uninteresting and one dimensional. The actors do an okay job but it seems like they are phoning in there performance, especially the lead actress she seems very unemotional and boring. she's probably the least likable. It seems a lot like Edwards is purposely directing his actors to show as little emotion and interest in the events that are transpiring in front of them as possible. Rogue one is a weird movie in a sense; it's to fast paced at times and also to slow sometimes. Generally it's a very slow paced movie but when they're are dramatic or emotional moments that require a slower pace for them to work properly and sink in. The movie just blazes past them at a lighting pace, not allowing the audience to digest whats happening. It ends up making the more dramatic moments feel superficial and rushed. The last fourth of this movie is were it goes full Star Wars with a big space battle accompanied by a land battle going on simultaneously. This part of the movie is admittedly a little fun, but it's to late, to little to compensate for the rest. which is dull, drab, vanilla and down right boring! I really don't understand how people find this fun. My father watched this movie, and he normally loves sci fi regardless of the quality;and even he thought this was boring. It seems to me like Disney is just trying to milk the series for all it's worth, they don't care about anything else. Rogue One is defiantly the most overrated movie of 2016; it's sad that people have such low standards.
Shin Gojira (2016)
Gino 2.0: it came from Japan!
Shin Godzilla directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, also written by Hideaki Anno. The movie is good but it's not great, I feel like Japanese critics really overrated this movie. Before I start with the pros I should get this out of the way, for me this was not a Godzilla movie. This is just an alien to me, all the changes like the split jaw, thin ass lasers and the ability to evolve in to anything and that ending. This is not Godzilla to me!
PROS
-Generally solid acting all around and some cool cameos from a bunch of Japanese actors and directors.
-The movies pacing is fast and the shots move extremely quickly, even though 80% of this film is board room meetings.
-Great camera work and good cinematography, pretty artsy at times.
-The sound track is a mix of classic tracks from old Godzilla movies and new stuff. It's good but doesn't always fit whats happening on screen perfectly.
-There's a lot of symbolism which is always good.
-The satire in this movie is genuinely very funny and is probably the best thing about the film.
-The special effects are generally solid, there a mix of mostly cgi and some practical effects.
MIXED
Sometime the dialogue is so fast that it becomes fatiguing reading the subtitles.
-There are a couple of really ugly special effects shots
-can be unintentionally funny at times
-The second act of the movie is very weak, it begins to get repetitive and theirs no tension what so ever because the monster is asleep. It starts to drag and get very boring.
- Certain tracks on the soundtrack don't always fit to well with scenes there playing over.
CONS
-Shin Godzilla is is not Gojira, a mutated fish that shoots purple lasers and can asexually reproduce, no thank you Toho
-There's a character that is an American representative, her acting is bad and she speaks English worse then some of the Japanese characters, which doesn't make any sense
- Retreads old ground very similar story to almost any other monster movie, in particular Return of Godzilla
The monster gets a modest amount of screen time, you'll get to see it every couple of minutes. In the second act there is a large portion of the movie were the monster is asleep and during this moment the movie does start to drag a little. There's quite a bit of political commentary on Japan and obvious reference to events that have recently happened there, unfortunately the messages get jumbled up. 7/10 not a Godzilla movie for me, but a good monster for sure.
Siganitalja (2016)
Overly dramatic and cheesy
This is the first movie i have seen by director Kwak Jae-Yong,and it wasn't a very good experience.I felt like i was watching a sci fi,mystery, drama TV show. The tone of this movie is all over the place; sometimes it's extremely cheesy and has a cheap comedy feel and look to it.And the more serious parts are very over dramatic, making it hard to take seriously.Although the story is kind of interesting it's just not handle very well; There are a lot of stupid things that happen in this movie which don't help either. Overall i felt like laughing by the end of the movie because it got so ridiculous towards the end.I give it 4 out of 10 stars.
