The Ranch (2016)
Sneaks up on you.
For years I had people tell me to watch The Ranch because I would understand it and love it. I resisted and could never get myself to sit down and watch it. In February, I was sitting at home one morning and decided to watch it. I found myself sitting on my couch watching episode after episode until I realized that I had drank an entire pot of coffee. I was hooked. I began reading the reviews and studying the show. I was devastated when I learned that the show had been canceled and that the last episodes had already been made and I knew my binge watching would be over in a few weeks. I agree with most reviews, the loss of Danny Masterson seriously affected the show. The story line was weak and disappointing on the loss of Rooster. I found myself talking to the tv and encouraging the characters on making better choices. Overall, I think it is a great show. I like the focus on middle America and not on California or New York. The conservative view points were refreshing and I appreciated the struggles that the characters went through.
Backdraft 2 (2019)
Very disappointing
I basically lost 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. I was a teenager when the original Backdraft was made. It was a great movie. This movie was far-fetched and so ridiculous. The only part of this movie that I felt was consistent with the original was Donald Southerland and William Baldwin. Filming the movie in any location besides Chicago was an injustice to the original film. Without spelling out each individual inconsistency, I will just say that it is full of inaccuracies with firefighting and typical movie making exaggerations.
Marriage Story (2019)
Sad but unfortunately honest
The acting in this movie is actually pretty good. The story is honest. Overall, it is a very disappointing story. And for some of us, who have lived this, it hits close to home.
