You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment (2024)
Who Cares If It's "Biased"?!?
People here are too busy complaining about the fact that the study is not the focus here. You can't do four episodes on the study alone. But it just proves the fact that ANIMAL PRODUCTS ARE BAD FOR YOU. A plant based diet improves your health, lengthens your life, cures or improves certains ailments, lowers bad cholesterol and improves brain function, among other things. Studies have PROVED this. The twins were used for a reason - their similar DNA.
I already know the benefits of a plant based diet and the horrors of factory farming. None of this was a surprise to me. I personally don't want to rely on pills the rest of my life, be unable to do the things I enjoy because of health problems or die when I'm 50 because I'm obese. Anyone who doesn't pay at least some attention to what they're saying just doesn't care about themselves.
American Monster (2016)
Can't Watch
This I probably my least favorite show on ID. As most of the reviewers have said, the home videos lend absolutely nothing to the story. They are not "chilling" or "eye opening;" they're boring, everyday home videos. There's no point to them. There are no clues to the monster. There is no evidence of how or why they snapped. I just don't understand the concept or point of showing the videos.
And, yes, it's pretty dragged out. By the time the videos are done being shown, you're halfway through the program. Most of the shows are underwhelming and unremarkable. I don't understand these good reviews. Must be getting something out of it that I'm not.
Ahsoka (2023)
Snooze Fest
I really hopes this picks up because I almost fell asleep during the first two episodes. Very little action and mostly boring dialog. The episode with the appearance of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian was more interesting than this.
And I thought the title of the series was "Ahsoka," not "Sabine." Clearly I'm not the only one who thought this Sabine character was the focus of these episodes rather than Ahsoka. Not sure how this will play out but I'm hoping the sole reason I'm watching this will eventually pay off - and that is for Ahsoka to be the heroine.
Again, I'm willing to give it a chance but put me to sleep again and I'll give up on it quick.
Bobby's Triple Threat (2022)
Like the Concept
I like the concept and the fact that one chef has the chance for $25,000. But like another reviewer said, Bobby shouldn't be helping out his "titans" at all. It's not fair. And the fact that they have one chef judging the competitors means that you're at the mercy of this one judge's tastes. Two or even three judges would make it fair because you're not worried about one judge who may be picky or not impartial.
I also find Bobby's ingredients to be a little boring compared to his Beat Bobby Flay ingredients that he picks. These chefs are professionals. It would make sense to challenge them a bit more. Maybe the new season will be different.
Mindhunter (2017)
Not Enough Viewers?
I was soooooo disappointed when I finished this series. It's like Breaking Bad when you can't wait to watch the next one. It was set up perfectly to continue but for some reason has been canceled. Wait, what?!?
First of all, there isn't much action. It's mostly dialog. But it's so intriguing, especially for someone like me who loves crime drama and delving into the minds of psychopaths. The fascinating interviews of these psychopaths are the best part in my opinion.
Agents Ford and Tench, who couldn't be more opposite, are the best characters. You feel for them as they have personal problems along with the stress of solving cases and interviewing psychopaths. I was so impressed with both these actors.
I highly recommend the show despite the fact that it's only two seasons. I would watch ten seasons if they made them. They'd never run out of psychopaths, that's for sure.
Shrinking (2023)
OMG
This just might be my new favorite show. Such a great cast and so well written, this is laugh out loud funny but also had me crying in parts.
I love Jason Segel in everything he does, and Harrison Ford is in a role unlike any other I've seen him in. But the supporting cast is so great, especially Jessica Williams, Lukita Maxwell and Christa Miller.
I think it's true that we all have our problems and even psychiatrists have to deal with theirs while acting as if their own problems don't exist. But this show deals with it in a humorous and touching way. As someone who lost their mother recently, it really did hit a nerve in parts and I found myself emotional. But in the next minute, I was laughing through the tears. Really funny though and I highly recommend it.
Black Bird (2022)
Unexpected
Looking for something to binge watch, I came across this on Apple TV and it sounded intriguing but omg... I wasn't sure if I'd seen Taron Egerton in anything before this but I couldn't take my eyes off him. So handsome and so convincing as a smug and cocky Jimmy who comes down to earth by the end of the film. Ray Liotta, in a heartfelt performance, was excellent as his father.
But the real reason to watch is Paul Walter Hauser as the suspected serial killer. I alternated between feeling bad for him and despising him. He was mesmerizing.
I was hooked before the first episode ended. Well done.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Affected Me
I've been watching this series out of curiosity. I had no knowledge of the video game but I'm a big fan of Pedro Pascal and wanted to see what this was all about.
The first two episodes had some boring parts. There was not enough action and too little suspense. I thought I'd give it some more time, however.
This episode was not at all what I was expecting. I kept waiting for something bad to happen and it turned out to be surprising and touching. I watched because it also had my favorite character from White Lotus. I was impressed at how it touched me emotionally and was such a sweet story about love. No, it was not all about killing infected monsters but it showed a different side of the epidemic. Really well done episode.
Kindred Spirits (2016)
Better Than Most
I've been watching Amy and Adam ever since they were part of Ghost Hunters. They are so personable and never overreact to their findings. They're both very likable and do great background work on each location which I think is essential to investigating. Too many ghost hunting shows do no background on their locations and it makes no sense to me. Why would you not look into the history and past if a place, its owners and people who lived there?
I'm so glad that Chip has become part of the regular cast. He brings a new and important perspective to the investigation. I also think a medium, clairvoyant or sensitive person is essential to any investigation.
Monster: Cassandra (2022)
Disagree with other reviews
This episode shows in frightening detail what Dahmer's neighbor went through, what she saw and heard and how her concerns fell on deaf ears. The police ignored her 911 calls and didn't seem at all concerned to investigate. Why? Because of the neighborhood? Because they didn't believe her? Because they were lazy? The point of this episode is not race, it's just another example of how Dahmer should have been caught much earlier than he did. Jackson's presence in this episode is secondary to the horror that the neighbor went through. It's beautifully acted. The scene with the sandwich is terrifying.
Outlander (2014)
Having A Hard Time
I saw a few episodes with a friend so I thought I'd start from the beginning because I liked what I saw. But I'm having a hard time getting through the first season. I didn't read the books. I like the history and the costumes. But every episode is either Claire or Jamie getting captured and needing someone to rescue them. It's getting old. I'd like to see them have one normal day. I don't know what season I saw but I hope I can get to it.
Undercover Underage (2021)
Disturbing
Updating to say that Season 2 is so much better. I'm really happy to see some of these creeps being arrested and so glad the police are shown taking them down.
This is interesting, compelling and disturbing. I'm fascinated to see how they gather their evidence but even after giving it to law enforcement, the episodes end with few of these creeps getting in trouble. One tells the "15yo" that he's arriving to meet her in a black car but instead shows up in an unmarked white van. Really? The intentions of some of them are clear. Others seem darker. I don't know how anyone can turn a blind eye to this. Every parent should watch.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Maddening
I read about the real Anna so I knew how this was going to turn out, but I wanted to know how she got there. I started to like the characters but by the end I found them all annoying. Anna was the worst. The writer, the lawyer and the friend who all stood by her made me cringe. And then to read that the real sociopath is still in this country?!? Ugh. Fascinating story though.
Evil Lives Here: Until We Meet Again (2019)
If only...
Some of these stories really stick with you, and I felt so badly for this man. If only better choices were made. If only his wife had spoken up. Felt angry and sorry for him at the same time.
A Christmas Carol (2009)
My Favorite Version
I love this version. I have to watch it every year. Maybe it's the animation that makes it special to me, from the hairs on Scrooge's nose to the leather on the chair he sits in, I think it's beautifully done and the acting is superb. As others have said, some scenes are overdone but that doesn't bother me. It's an animated movie for adults in my opinion with gorgeous visuals. This is one of my favorites.
Ghost Adventures (2008)
Unwatchable
I can't watch this because these are men who scream like a bunch of 14-year-old girls. If you get THAT scared then don't be a paranormal investigator. Such a joke.
