Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! (2020)
Thank you outrage culture
I only watched this anime to see what all the twitter crybabies were complaining about and what the big deal was. Little did I know I would find one of my new favorite animes. Uzaki is loud and obnoxious in the best way. I'm completely invested in the relationship between her and Sakurai. Even the side characters are entertaining and charming in their own ways. Can't wait for season 2.
So again, thank you cancel culture. Without you crying like toddlers who just crapped themselves I wouldn't have discovered this gem.
The Deadly Spawn (1983)
Honestly surprised
I went into this expecting a cheesy 80's movie to just laugh at. Dont get me wrong, it is still a cheesy 80's movie. But I found myself very much entertained. The effects are pretty good for when this movie was made and the creature is definitely different. I miss these old 80's balls to the wall monster designs.
In the end it's a fun monster flick that's not even an hour and a half. It gets to the point and doesnt waste any time. I say give it a shot if you're into this genre
Doom: Annihilation (2019)
Not DOOM
This makes the original movie look like Saving Private Ryan. It's just a generic zombie movie with a space theme and takes away the gore that makes those kinds of movies enjoyable. The BFG doesnt even blow anything up, it just pushing them back. Action is boring. Acting is mid grade B movie schlock. Guns look like cheap plastic toys. The villain's motive is as cliche as you can possibly get, you've seen it done a million times. All in all it's just a bad movie.
I really dont understand why iD software would agree to have a , low budget, straight to video release of their biggest title even be made. This doesnt help the franchise, of anything it hurts it.
Godzilla (1998)
Dont look at it as a Godzilla film
I've seen so much hate for this movie just because it's called Godzilla. If you take that name away and look at as it's own monster movie, then it's a pretty enjoyable popcorn monster flick. The acting can be cheesy at times, or just not up to par, but the action sets are fun and the effects are fairly decent given its age. I'm a massive Godzilla fan so I can understand the hate this movie has. But if you can block out that association then you have a fun creature feature that could have been more accepted if they didn't tack on the Godzilla name
