While there are some worthwhile actors in this movie it is not good or bad. Personally, I found it to be rather dull. It wasn't a comedy or thriller, the plot is easy to follow but nothing to keep you watching.Maybe I expected a little more knowing that Robin, Holly and Woody were the featured actors as I like them a lot. I found Holly Hunters part to be rather over the top and at some instances her character annoyed me. The character just didn't ring true to me. Given the choice between this movie or doing something like housework, I would choose housework. If you just want to sit quietly and not have to think, then this is the movie to watch. I gave it 5/10 because I think the actors did the best they could with the script.

What a real treat and quite unexpected. This is what a real thriller movie is all about. I rushed into the video shop, grabbed a movie without reading the entire blurb on the back and hoped for the best. I was totally surprised and delighted. I really enjoyed the actors and their characters. I thought they all gave a great performance and made their characters realistic. The plot was well thought out,well written and directed. It kept you interested from start to finish and never got boring for a single minute.

I highly recommend this movie for those that like thrillers, especially thrillers that are well paced and ones that keep your attention. Definitely a 10 out of 10 from me.

I gave this movie 4 out of 10...and it only got that because it is an Australian film and I am very patriotic. OI OI OI!

This movie should have been released with a warning.... will cause drowsiness!!! What can I say about the plot?? Well to begin with, it didn't have much of one. The beginning is much the same as the ending....the story doesn't go anywhere and it doesn't go anywhere extremely slowly. That hour and a half felt like a week. This story could have been expanded, more could have been done with the characters. Instead, the characters were left to wallow, no growth or purpose at all. And by the time I was halfway through, I was praying for a door to door salesman to ring my doorbell to get away from it. I even started daydreaming about the housework I could have been doing instead of wasting time watching this movie. I admit to watching it right through to the end, only because I had hoped to see some kind of improvement in characters and script...and was not surprised to see nothing!

Actors were mediocre and not very creditable. But with the script they were given, with no chance of making the characters come to life, I do not blame them. I just feel it was a waste of time and film. No redeeming qualities or anything nice I can comment on here.

Now I know this is only my opinion and that others have commented on this movie favourably. All I can say is that I expect a movie to have characters, plot and to actually be entertaining. I must have higher standards in my movie choices and I only watched this one because of the reviews I read here on IMDb.

If you are looking for an afternoon snooze movie,then this is the one you want.If you want to watch a movie and actually be entertained, then choose another movie.

A highly visual and verbal film. Lovely costumes and scenery. Helen Hunt plays a wonderful role as the *wanton* woman. I particularly liked her in this movie. The supporting actors/actresses brought a lot of realism to their roles and that made it a pleasure to watch. Personally, Being use to more dramatic and intense themes, my only negative remark is that the plot seemed to be a bit placid...I could see potential in some places to add a bit more to the storyline. But I think the film succeeded in conveying an easy to follow, uncomplicated look at life and love of that era, as I am sure it was intended to do and written that way. All in all a pleasure to watch and I recommend it to those viewers that like simplistic style,highly absorbing dialogue, and pleasing visual stimulation.

OK..so I am not a big fan of survival in the wilderness movies but I watched this one because of Anthony Hopkins ( who just happens to be one of my favorites).I must say it was superb from start to finish!!I found myself very immersed in the entire film.

Let me say a few words about the actors....Anthony did a great job in this film. His character was well portrayed and a flawless performance. .Alec Baldwin also did a great job in this movie. (And I can't say that I was a big fan of Alec before this movie) but I have a better opinion of him now. Our own Aussie girl Elle McPherson has a small role which she played well and portrayed her character very well.

Gripping storyline, fantastic scenery and a real sense of drama made this one of the best movies I have seen in a long while. It is a must see movie for anyone, even if you think you are not into survival movies, it will not disappoint you, definitely don't miss it. 10 out of 10!!!

This review contains my own personal opinion, which differs for most others and is intended not to disuade viewers from watching and making up their own minds.

What can I say about this movie? Well lets start with ho hum.... I am amazed I didn't fall asleep. I watched this movie after reading some others comments as I have NEVER been a woody fan...At least I feel justified in my opinions now. Slow plodding plot, a lot of the actors did a fairly good job with what they had to work with but felt that this movie would have been better if it had been left on the shelf gathering dust. Given the choice of watching this or having every hair on your body plucked one by one...I guess the plucking would work out just a bit more painful and a bit less entertaining but not by much. I only rated it 3 out of 10 because I could not say that I enjoyed it but did watch it to the end after pausing it often and coming back to it.At least I had to see how it ended and no one was more happier to see the end than I was!! Watch it and make up your own mind, but it could cause drowsiness.

What a waste of film!! and its a waste of time viewing this gross piece of work. I can't imagine what inspired these people to make such a piece of junk, can only imagine that they were bored and thought is might be nice to gross people out. No redeeming features in this film, none whatsoever. Stupid pranks and stupid people.Not a normal person to be seen. What makes it worse is that they are showing young people how to act crazy and risk your life all for what they seem to think is fun. Its's not fun, it is highly dangerous at times and I only hope that not many people will view this film or its sequels. I hate to think what would happen if others tried to mimic what they see as "fun" in this film. Now I know there MIGHT be people out there that like this sort of thing and will be offended that I have given it such a dismal rating of 1 out of ten. I would have given it a big fat 0 if I could have, but the lowest rating allowed is 1. Don't know why this was not banned before it made it onto the shelves?? Avoid it at all costs, and pray that your young ones don't turn out like this! Definaletly a big fat 0!!

What a winner this movie is. For all you thriller fans, this one is not to be missed! I am a somewhat fan of Kim Bassinger's but was very surprised by her performance in this movie. I am a bigger fan now that I have seen this. The plot was well written and very entertaining from start to finish. The storyline is very easy to follow, flows along nicely and has the right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Great casting and superb acting from the entire cast, with special credit to the special effects guys. Special effects were very well done and it was an 'edge of your seat' ride all the way through! I highly recommend this movie for a good nights entertainment, you wont be disappointed! 9 out 0f 10!!

I just finished watching this movie and I have read some of the other peoples comments...am I missing something??? I have rated this movie 7 out of 10 simply because it has some great acting and 2 great actors but as far as the storyline goes...?? I thought the subject matter was very interesting but I think that a little more could have been done with it. Maybe I was expecting too much after hearing and reading others comments. I did like the scenery very much and the over all look of the movie, but at times I reached for the remote control thinking I would skip ahead to something interesting. I endured it without skipping ahead and I am not unhappy about that, but I did wonder at times...is this movie nearly over?? I had hoped for a different ending ( can't say too much and spoil it for others ) and I guess the ending we got was what life is like. I would have rated it more than 7 if it was a little shorter in some areas and focused more in other areas. But generally speaking, it is worth watching and judging for yourself. A fairly good way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Wow, what a great movie. I have seen some shockers recently but this one was such a nice movie. Good actors, characters, plot, directing etc. Easy to watch and follow the storyline and I just love happy endings. I can't find any bad things to say. I am not at all concerned that she can walk through walls but doesn't fall through the floor ( it is only a movie after all )My only concern was if I would be entertained and would I enjoy the movie for what it was...and the answer is definitely yes.

Believable, credible performances by both Reese and Mark.I am a fan of Reese's work, haven't seen a lot of Mark's work though but they both did well with this film. My rating is 9 out of 10 and I recommend it highly.

Special effects gone mad in this movie but I did enjoy it.

The worst part of the movie for me is when one person says to the others..."stay here,I'll be back" and they never listen and they are the ones who start all the trouble. The 1st person spend enormous amount of time and energy, ( not to mention putting themselves in danger ) to save the person who doesn't listen. If only they would listen! (Cant let human nature spoil what is essentially a very good ghost movie).

Good special effects, good assortment of ghosts and ghouls, lots of blood loss and a plot you can actually follow. If it was me, I am sure I would have taken off the glasses and just given up. I wouldn't want to see what was coming after me.

It is not scary to the point that you'll never sleep again, but I was getting into the story and jumped a couple of times. Horror isn't suppose to be believable, but it is suppose to make you react.

So my reaction to this movie has scored it 8 out of 10.

Low budget drama at its best. Not a huge amount of money was spent in the making of this film, but that just added to the context of this movie. It was nice to see 2 actors, relying on their acting skills alone, making the movie work from all angles.

I liked this film for it's simplicity and storyline. A lot of films these days tends to rely on special effects, confusing plots and endings that are not satisfying. But I am happy to say that all of these things were absent from this film. Was definitely a satisfying way to spend 90 minutes.

Simple,interesting viewing and didn't go to extremes to make it entertaining and enjoyable.

My rating is 7 out of 10 and well worth watching.

Not a horror movie but a half hearted attempt at a thriller. Was not overall impressed as I thought there were a few inconsistencies in time line and believability. 2 sunrises within a short period of time?? But they do say truth is stranger than fiction,so at best you could call this movie strange. It will make you reconsider about planning your next camping trip! I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to see this movie and if you are not too concerned about what I have already mentioned and you like a bit of blood in your movies, then you might get something out of this that I didn't.. I still think saw 2 was way better than this one. 5 out of 10 is my rating and any die hard horror fans will probably agree with me.

A charming romantic tale of two people brought together, both with emotional baggage issues. I thought the performances were great from both superb actors, they really worked well together and made a nice couple. I was a bit sorry to see it end so soon, was expecting an update, like a few years on down the track would have been nice to see them work out their issues together. It was well worth the effort to watch this movie, a good girls night in movie. Was especially glad to realize it wasn't a tear jerker but a good solid, easy watching movie. I rated it 7 out of 10 and fans of these two actors are in for a real treat.

Being a horror fan, I rather liked this movie. I went into the video store wanting to find a classic horror movie and found this one instead. It had a good storyline, action and plenty of horror to keep everyone involved. A few twists and turns, that I will not mention ( don't want to spoil it for those that haven't watched it yet ) made it interesting. Very good camera work, angle shots lighting effects etc. The special affects were quite good, made the monsters pretty believable. I didn't feel like I had wasted my time watching this and came away feeling that I had watched a pretty good movie. I don't think you will be disappointed if you are not faint hearted that is.... Worth watching 7 out of 10

I can say three good things about this movie...too many bad things to mention. Firstly, it had great scenery...wonderful wonderful locations outback. Secondly, the acting was adequate, I didn't think it was Guy's best performance but adequate. Thirdly, we had free tickets...I would have felt really ripped off if I had paid to see this movie! Long and tedious, not a storyline is sight and I am sure most of the violence was unnecessary. Not my cup of tea at all, in fact, I had planned to walk out after 20 mins or so but I had to wait for my ride home so decided to see it through to the end. If you plan on seeing this movie I suggest a box of matches ( to prop your eyes open with ) I went in with high hopes after reading the reviews here but was sorely disappointed. Where have all the good movies gone?? 1 point each for the good points, that gives it a 3 out of 10...and that is being generous!!!

This is one of the best movies I have seen recently. From start to finish it delivers a great storyline and the characters are so real, you can really relate to them and feel for them. Its a very down to earth movie, no special affects etc but I think that just adds to the movie. The scenery is great too. If you love dogs then this movie is for you! The last 5 minutes are especially touching - don't watch this movie without a big box of tissues. I cried most of the way through this movie and I wont say if it was with sadness or happiness because I don't want to spoil it for the rest of you . But I rate it 10 out of 10 and if you miss seeing it, you are missing a real treat. Grab this movie and watch it, you wont be disappointed !!

I was a little disappointed with this movie. I had heard all good things about 'The Village' before I rented it and was impatient to watch it.I was impressed with the cast and thought they did a good job with the acting and the scenery was wonderful but I just felt the storyline dragged a bit in the middle. I felt a lack of depth, ie - I thought a lot more could have been done with this storyline to make it more powerfully thrilling.

I also thought the filming was very good, it really makes you believe in the atmosphere. And because of the cast, storyline and great atmosphere, I am giving this movie 5 out of 10, but will be reviewing it again to give it a fair chance. Worth watching.
