Chef (2014)
Funny and Heartwarming
I'm not sure what others who rated this movie negatively are looking for, but this was an enjoyable movie. I would rate it a 10 but want to leave a little room there. My wife loved this movie as well and had a big smile on her face when it was over. Not to mention a few tears were shed along the way. It is rare she and I both love a movie as our taste are so different. But this movie had a little bit of magic. All the actors were terrific. We both wanted to give them each a big hug and say thank you. They all have some new fans here. I don't want to get into spoiler territory so won't say anything more. Don't hesitate, go see this movie
Dance Party, USA (2006)
Stayed with me
I'm not sure writing that you enjoyed a movie is enough. I admit being new to this style of film and viewed the directors films in reverse order. I began with "Cold Weather" and enjoyed it very much. For me it came down to wanting to spend time with these actors, and I did. Next I watched "Quiet City" and enjoyed that film as well. As with the previous film I found myself wanting to spend time with the two lead actors. That is as descriptive as I can get. There is no point in saying any more about it. Watch the films and let the stories unfold. The last one "Dance Party USA" was a bit harder to follow, being older than the lead actors definitely plays into that. But there is something there and the young actress Anna Kavan is a revelation. Her lovely smile at the kitchen table during the party will stay with you long after.. I was sorry to see she has not made any more films. Thank's to the pod-cast for introducing me to the films of Aaron Katz and am looking forward to his new movie "Land Ho"
I Give It a Year (2013)
A very funny film
Wow, some of the reviews here are pretty harsh. I just finished the movie a few minutes ago and it was laugh out loud funny. There are a few cringe worthy jokes but not even coming close to derailing the film. Everyone here has explained the plot so there is no need for me to take your time with that. If you are offended easily you might find some of the humor offensive but if you just want to have a good time, check it out. The leads and supporting cast are all very good. Anna Faris is a sweetheart here, Rose Byrne is always good and Rafe Spall is hilarious. I don't understand the guidelines of needing to have ten lines so in order for this to be posted I will need to add a few more lines.
