Missed the point
15 May 2023
The scariest part of this movie was the acting. It missed the point of what makes the Evil Dead movies so great. Complete waste of time. Yeah it was gory but so are better movies with better characters and better writing. The characters were boring, the story was awful. There were a couple of nice split focus shots but other than that nothing here worth while.

The sound mix was the best part of this movie. But even then it didn't last long. I feel like if you were going to set out to make something "different" then don't wink at me with you shotgun and chainsaw. Make something different then don't call it Evil Dead.

It's just one long advertisement.
24 September 2021
The visual effects are fine, Ryan Reynolds is great but the dialogue is week. Exposition through dialogue is lazy and there is so much of it.

It's a cheap movie for the audience to sit down and switch their brain off and watch brands and other movies owned by Disney advertised relentlessly. Not even through clever references.

If you actually appreciate movies for the skill involved in making them don't waste your time on this mediocre piece of bland butter less semi toasted piece of stale bread.

They should study this film in high school
17 October 2020
This is a movie about friendship. Timelessly relevant and reassuring, the message; Just be comfortable with who you are. I now only realise how important this movie was in my development from a teen into a young adult.

The portrayal of the male characters as insecure and immature is on point. And by repeatedly punishing the main characters for their attitudes towards women the learn their lessons individually and in their own time as we all do in life.

Great movie, can not recommend it highly enough.

Refreshing Like Seltzer

This movie is so sweet, more films like this need to be made. Wacky and original with a heartfelt message. Really loved it. Seth Rogen is a joy to watch, kept forgetting it's him playing two parts. Highly recommend to anybody who'll listen!

I didn't know what to expect going in to watching Burnt, but I was hooked from start to finish. Great cast, brilliant writing and a great story. Loved it, highly recommend

The Greatest Show of All Time
9 August 2020
The Acting is superb, the writing is airtight and the directing is fantastic. The quality of this show is unparalleled. Tony is the character you hat to love, so flawed but so sympathetic like majority of the characters. This is the only show I rewatch regularly, a journey that's equally as fresh and relevant every time I go on it.

Great Comic, Terrible Show
9 August 2020
The show and the comic are different enough to be judged on their own. As such this show is awful, very uninspired writing. This is a perfect example of a work that is intended to have as broad appeal as possible at the cost of any real substance. A shallow self-indulgent mess.

Pretty Dope Show
14 June 2020
The first season is a very enjoyable adventure, the scrambled timeline can be a bit difficult to get your head around but once you do it makes sense. It seems to be a way of revealing information only when you need it, had the show been told chronologically it may have been a bit of a slog.

The writing is solid and the production elements are great. Really good show so far, can't wait fir season 2.

Great writing, great casting, great acting, great music, great cinematography. This show has it all. All the characters have depth and a fleshed out with clear motives and personalities. This show is top shelf

Good use of colour and great cinematography
12 June 2020
This show has the best use of colour I've ever seen. Visually it's fantastic. I can see the story they were trying to tell but honestly aside from Walt and Saul there wasn't a lot here for me.

High Budget Trash
12 June 2020
Yeah the costumes and set pieces look good, but really all the sex and battle scenes compensate for a lack of writing ability. I finished season 5 before I realised I was actively murdering brain cells by consuming this poison. I can't develop characters so I'll just kill them off or I need to fill 10 minutes of this episode why don't so and so bang.

Greatest Prison Movie
12 June 2020
Paul Newman is phenomenal! Every camera shot, every line of dialogue serves a purpose. To drive the story. All the pieces come together to make a masterpiece. Luke is the hero we need but not the hero we deserve.

The Most Overrated Movie of All Time
12 June 2020
Thank you Tim Robbins, you are the only reason I could sit through this long winded tale of garbage. As far as prison movies go, this suffers from an identity crisis is. Tries to do too much by not actually doing anything at all story wise. Watch Cool Hand Luke instead

I still think about this movie
12 June 2020
After seeing this movie I just wanted to sit quietly in the dark and reflect on it, I didn't want to watch or do anything for days after so as not to distract me from unpacking the experience.

The shot composition is fantastic a lot of shots look like they should be paintings, great writing and fantastic acting from Matt Dillon.

Really wanted to like this
12 June 2020
I'd hoped the movie could improve on the book but I was disappointed equally. Ewan McGregor is fantastic and Danny's character arc is almost perfect.

But there is just so many pointless throwbacks to The Shining film that weren't even clever, it became very tiresome very quickly. I've already seen The Shining I don't need to see it again within this movie.

Ahead of its time
12 June 2020
Had this movie came out 5 years later the superhero movie landscape would be very different. This movie is an interesting adaptation but it still deconstructs the genre the same way the source material does. Only now are we getting more genre decorations such as The Boys and Brightburn. Zach Snyder's best work. Fantastic Cast and brilliant cinematography.

Sympathy for the Wolverine
12 June 2020
A movie about a tired grumpy old man who's fed up. I feel like Logan is the perfect commentary on how I see the Comic Book Movie industry.

He's been there, done that and now he's over it. He just wants it to stop and much respect to Hugh Jackman, his best performance of the character and knowing when to go out on top. This movie is a breath of fresh air in a stale genre. Thank you

Nothing I haven't seen before
12 June 2020
This movie is visually fantastic! Great lighting fantastic cinematography, the way it's shot so tight with the use of close ups is so suffocating. I love it, Joaquin is brilliant also.

Honestly though I think I'd rather watch Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy again rather than a mash up of the two.

Couldn't Finish It
12 June 2020
With about 30 minutes left I had to just switch it off. All the bright lights and loud noises couldn't distract me from the terrible dialogue. It pains me, that this constant bickering amongst characters seems to be a staple in these movies. Solid soundtrack though.
