What Men Want (2019)
Warmth, humor, great performances from the cast!
I was feeling down and out and tried all ways to feel something. I even watched horror cult favorite - "The Shining" to scare myself into feeling something. After the horror movie, "what men want" was recommended to me. I took a shot and found myself glued to the movie without once checking my phone. I love it. The acting was great, storyline was meaningful and extremely funny performances from everybody. This movie made my day so much better and I highly recommend it to everybody!
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
The first of all subsequent spin offs!
This movie is so heartwarming. Be sure to watch it when u r feeling down and out as it brings across a really meaningful message that he who gives has most.
Coco (2017)
One of the best movies I have watched
Just when I thought the Era of good movies are over. This one came and brought so much hope. It is an original in its storyline, the twist is somewhat predictable but the amount of heart in this is incredible. I love this movie so much! And it is so heartening to be comforted to know that the ones we love are still alive as long as they are in our memories. I just love this message.
The Office (2005)
If I can only watch one show...
If I can only watch one show for the rest of my life...This would be it!
Enuff said! Just love the jokes and characters from the office. Unlike other mockumentary that centres around a few main leads. The office made each and every single character its own and memorable. It wouldn't be the office without any of them. Even the IT guy that appeared in one episode made a lasting impression. Do watch it if you haven't!
Christopher Robin (2018)
Heart warming but at the expense of making CR a bad guy
Pros
1. Great animation
2. Awesome cinematography
3. Great acting
4. Meaningful message
Cons
1. Why did they portray Christopher Robin as such a nasty grown up! This isn't aligned with the cartoon where CR helps the animals in the hundred acre woods. Although in the end he turned over a new leaf, it is quite hard to imagine how our beloved CR could be so heartless and unkind. It is trying a bit too hard to change the narrative to fit into today's society to make it relatable at the expense of losing the magic of the cartoon series. I love and hate it at the same time!
The Duff (2015)
Heart-warming story!
The premise of the movie might be a little cliche. But it definitely brings back the 90s movie vibe where things are simple yet heart warming. You might also get an epiphany after the movie! A duff? Who me? Omg!
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017)
Good pace entertainment, with hilarious laughs
I'm not sure why this movie has gotten so many negative reviews but I loved it from start to end! I have watched the earlier movies and at first the new cast would throw you off as the original cast was really lovable and people tend to like what they used to like. But the new cast was so amazing and such a delight to watch! The movie was also extremely funny and I haven't laughed so hard the entire year. The scene with Rodrick's vomit landed on beardo. The same kind of humor is present in this sequel and I actually loved it so much more than the earlier movies! Definitely a movie I'll rewatch over and over again for light hearted good laughs!
Gemini Man (2019)
Amazing from middle to end
Pros:
1. Great acting by the cast. Especially Will Smith who portrayed a younger agent with immense realism. He was able to reenact the stubbornness and willful behavior of young junior agent without it being cringy.
2. Special effects were amazing. Never have reversed aging looked so real.
3. Superb fighting scenes, especially the rapid gun and chasing scenes.
Cons
1. Very slow and boring beginning with a lot of unnecessary scenes. The movie should have gone straight to the action as the back story provided in the beginning offered little value add.
Hellowoo goseuteu (2010)
Hello Ghost speaks to the undead
A brilliant tearjerker under the guise of a comedy.
This movie explores the theme of love and family and boosts a stellar cast of actors who fit each character to a T.
Please do not brush this movie off as yet another shallow comedy. The plot is intricate and character development is a central part of the entire movie. Over the course of the movie the audience will fall in love with each personality and their story. One learns about love in many ways- love from a mother, father, grandparent, sibling, lover and self.
One of my favorite movies which gives me the same feeling as after watching "It's a Wonderful Life".
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Anthony Hopkins at his finest
Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of a sociopath is simply chilling.
Having met a real sociopath at a chance encounter, I would give Anthony Hopkins an 8.
Real sociopaths are a lot more dramatic and theatrical. They have an inflated ego and enjoy being in control. Fear is never an option and they take delight in manipulation.
Anthony's character is everything about a real sociopath minus the theatrics. Instead he delivers subtlety and leaves the audience wanting more of this menacing character.
Great storyline with great actors. A classic thriller.
