Jack (2013)
Progressive Irrelevance
I do not know what to say about this film, except that it's very creation is unprecedented. It is unprecedented because never before has a full-length film been made about such an unimportant individual. This is a film about a man who nobody outside of Canada has even heard of; and who nobody inside of Canada really cared about.
This film was an irrelevant attempt by irrelevant progressives to glorify a man who was an irrelevant progressive. I can understand making films about famous progressive leaders: Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro or even Kim Jong Il. At least they had some real impact on history, even if they were all genocidal lunatics.
You do not even need to watch this film to know it is propaganda. The very fact that a film was made about such an unimportant politician reeks (stinks) of political bias. You can be guaranteed that the political hacks who made this film will not be making a film about Steven Harper, the current conservative Prime Minister of Canada; unless - of course - it is to vilify and destroy him.
Lucy (2014)
Learn from this movie
University students will learn a lot from this movie, especially from Morgan Freeman's character. Specifically, they will learn that any ignorant fool can dress like a professor, talk like a professor and act like a professor. As long as he does these things he can sell his ideology to anyone, regardless of how irrational or unscientific it actually is.
This movie is not science fiction. It is not even science propaganda. It is science pornography. It is something that knows it is fictional but still has a serious philosophy behind it. Everyone knows that pornography is fake. Nevertheless, the people who make pornography really do want to create a culture of promiscuity. They really do believe that we would all be better off abandoning commitment and marriage, and embracing hedonism. Similarly, the people who made this movie know that it is fiction; but they really do believe that science will - one day - magically turn them into Gods.
This movie is a perfect microcosm of all the irrational philosophies - all those little "isms" - that plague our society today: feminism, socialism, atheism, hedonism, capitalism, individualism and (worst of all) scientism: the illogical belief that science will solve every mystery and every problem that the human race has encountered up until this point.
Of course, the main character had to be a woman. Hollywood-Feminist- Dogma would never allow the main character (who eventually becomes a God) to be a man. It would never allow a scene where a man with god-like powers kisses a woman and says, "You're nothing to me. I just need you for temporary enjoyment. You're my temporary girl toy." But it is perfectly OK for a female character to do this.
Of course, Lucy finds out- by going back in time - that there is no God. The atheist dogmatists in Hollywood would never dare to contemplate the alternative. Lucy's increased intelligence could NEVER possibly lead her to the conclusion that there is a God. That's progressive heresy. The existence of God is impossible, since the people in Hollywood - uneducated fools that they are - have figured out everything!
The Invention of Lying (2009)
The Invention of Egotism
The "Invention of Lying" is a movie that claims to take place in a world where people are incapable of lying; and where one man miraculously discovers how to. But anyone who watches the movie can see that this is simply not true. The "Invention of Lying" takes place in a world where everyone is a naive idiot who can be duped into believing anything; with Gervais being the only exception.
Ironically, the world presented in this movie really does come close to the crazed, tormented view of the word that exists in the crazed, tormented mind of Ricky Gervais. Like all atheists, Gervais really does believe that he is the only man who can see "the truth", in a world where everyone else cannot. All the people who disagree with him are fools; fools who refuse to accept that he is a genius who has made the "ultimate discovery".
In other words, this is a movie about Ricky Gervais's gigantic ego. Like all egotistical people, Gervais is a man of average intelligence and insight who mistakes himself for a man of great intelligence and insight. Like all egoists, he is a man who knows he is a loser - he openly admits this in the movie - but is desperately trying to compensate for that by claiming to be a genius.
This is not a fictional movie. This is a very realistic movie about how Ricky sees the world and the people within it. It is the depressing rant of an egotistical man who cannot accept the possibility that he is wrong.
