Ink Master (2012)
Dumb
Every season I watch a few episodes because I do truly find the tattoos interesting, some are very cool. But that's where my interest ends.
The contestants... ahem, "artists"... tattoo the theme of the day against the clock and their opponents and are judged by a cue card, an ass, and Chris Nunez, none of whom have ever been "ink masters" themselves, but all of whom are apparently qualified to cast judgment and determine an "ink master".
What I dislike about this show:
The women are almost always voted off in the early rounds. Tattooing against the clock as an element of drama. Everything about Oliver Peck. Dave Navarro always sounds like he's reading and never strays from the script. They often choose the worse tattoo by the favored contestant and send someone else with a better tattoo home. The contestant banter in the waiting room. They bring a loser on last seasons show back for a second chance instead of last seasons winner.
Teen Beach 2 (2015)
Entertaining!
I've never seen teen beach 1, but I was thoroughly entertained by this movie. It was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it was smart and funny, and at times a little cheesy. I've had the last song stuck in my head all day. I was laughing out loud at the '60s scenes. Maia Mitchell is a babe, and Ross Lynch seems like a really likable, talented guy.
I was expecting a sappy love story, but i was pleasantly surprised by the story line. Tanner, in the commercials, had me rolling my eyes because I didn't know he was supposed to be from the 60s, but his character was actually really funny, I loved the obliviousness and the intentional overacting in the 60s scenes. I loved the last song and I could watch Maia Mitchell dance to it all day.
Austin & Ally (2011)
Not bad
I used to hate Disney Channel. I thought it was immoral, unrealistic, and over the top stupid. I wanted my old shows back. I hated these pretty boys and dolled up teeny bop girls singing and dancing to Disney pop. I saw a commercial for Austin and Ally and thought "look at this blonde haired, pop singing tool. God Disney sucks now".
Then I watched the show. I like Austin and Ally. There, I said it.
Austin is actually pretty likable and funny. He's awkward and he's oblivious. I don't like when he goes from joking to breaking into song and getting super serious. I like how Ally is always being picked on and saying things that no one laughs at. I think Dez is a good comic relief. I find it hilarious that he's oblivious that he's an a-hole and that he's a "hunky" cheerleader in a feud with a guy named "Chuck". I love the banter between Dez and the other characters.. like when Ally says "Have fun without me" and Dez replies "Don't worry Ally... we always do" and stuff like that. I don't like when Dez runs around in circles screaming in true Disney fashion.
I've allowed myself to laugh and to see past the selling fame dreams and unrealistic body images to kids and I've discovered some good shows on Disney. It's not for 30 year olds, try to give it a chance.
