Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021)
I'm surprised at how good this movie was!
Everything about this movie screams 70's! From the retro-style Warner Brothers animation logo I knew I was in for a treat. This movie is obviously very inspired by Enter the Dragon, 70's era James Bond, and Dennis O'Neil Batman comics.
Bruce Timm's animation style looks amazing as always.
The Kung fu sequences throughout are great, and the movie makes good use of flashbacks.
Also for a movie with Batman in the title, Batman is barely in this movie. This is very much a Bruce Wayne story which is also unique.
Glad the 2021 movie season started on a high note!
Batwoman: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two (2019)
So many Supermans!
I loved all of the stuff this episode did with the various supermen. I really liked the conclusion they gave to Smallville's superman and how he gave up his powers to raise a family. Then seeing the Superman returns version of superman in the kingdom come suit was also really cool, and he nailed the role once again. My biggest problems with this episode was the Batman stuff. Seeing Kevin Conroy as an older world weary live action version of Batman was so cool! But the fact that they killed him off and used him as a plot device to basically say that Batwoman is better than Batman and she's the real hero the multiverse needs felt like a giant fu to Batman fans. Did Kate really need to kill Bruce?
I hope they Bring back Kevin to play an older Bruce Wayne in a live-action Batman Beyond show, because he's so good in the role! Just wish the writers respected the character a little more.
Arrow: Present Tense (2019)
Deathstroke is back!
Having a version of Deathstroke back was really cool, Grant Wilson still has a very menacing presence, but Slade Wilson is still really missed. That being said I'm sick of the future cast, everyone with the exception of Conor Hawke is horribly written and can't act.
Batwoman: Pilot (2019)
Already trying to destroy Batman's legacy
Can Batman seriously not stop a car accident in this show? And the fact that he's out stopping a bus in the middle of the day just seemed bizarre, this show is already trying to paint Bruce as an incompetent fool. The writing and "acting" in this show are also atrocious. Batwoman is off to a very bad start indeed.
