Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (2024)
Worth the Wait
I learned more new things about what these former child stars and show producers had to go through on that Nickelodeon set. Having to deal with all the sexism, racism, and inappropriate exploitation of children in the entertainment industry. There were scenes that made me so mad and sad at the same time when it comes to these kids and show producers had to go through when they were called horrific names when it came to the physical appearances (body image, skin color, etc.), and the sketches on All That and The Amanda Show. I had no clue Penelope Taynt's surname was based on a body part I will not say here and it's really inappropriate. I hope this documentary can give these former Nickelodeon stars the justice and peace they deserve. As for Dan "The Footman" Schneider, hell with be waiting for you as your career sinks down into the toilet on this earth.
Best Friends Whenever (2015)
It's okay
The show's premise is very interesting, but the issues I have is with the show's theme song (so corny and cringy 😖), better storylines, and getting to know the characters a lot more. I could've seen this last until season 3 if they had better storylines and dialogue to fit the show's premise. It would've been cool if Phil Duffy from Phil of the Future made an appearance or a cameo on the show along with Keeley Teslow as his wife. It would be interesting to see the characters families appear on the show; this would give us (the viewers) an understanding of why the characters are they way they are. Overall, Best Friends Whenever is an okay show. The thing the show need was a better theme song, better storylines, and getting to know the characters a lot more.
Shake It Up (2010)
Shake It Up Is An Awesome Show
I personally think it's a humorous (in a good way) to have two talented female friends as lead characters. They have the best fashion style, the music on the show is dope. The choreography is really amazing! The characters are cool, cringy, but very fun loving too! I love Zendaya during the show's run and today! Shake It Up shows the importance of friendships, growing up, and achieving your life long dreams. This show is a witty, funny, light hearted Tween comedy. It would've been nice Shake It Up had a TV movie to end things on a more proper note; like seeing who Rocky's future husband looks like, how Ty and Tinka fell in love, Cece and Logan, and Deuce and Dina. The TV movie should've brought back Gunther and find him a love interest. Overall, Shake It Up is a very entertaining show. So I understand why the negative reviews? I bet those haters are jealous they don't have to style and swag like all the cast members do on and off the Shake It Up set.
Violetta (2012)
Best Disney Telenovela
The show Violetta has a lot of unique things about it. From love, to heartbreak, family, and following your dreams while trying to find you place in this world. The singing in Spanish is amazing, I wish for the English version for the singing they would've left that part out let them singing in Spanish and then let them speak in English for the speaking parts. Overall, it's so magical and very entertaining to watch. You don't need a laugh track to make Violetta what it is. I admire her for not letting anyone get in the way of what she is born to do. She is a very pretty girl and a great friend, it's a great they don't show us a Zoey Brooks (Mary Sue) type of girl with the female characters on this show; Violetta came from a wealthy home but lost her mother so young, never made any friends in her and never gone to an actual school. She had to overcome those hardships to fight for her dreams. So inspirational.
Fish Hooks (2010)
One of the Best Disney Cartoons in the 2010s
I love watching Fish Hooks back then. I was just starting junior high and this was the perfect show to teach me some life lessons. Especially, with so much laughter! 😊
