Shôgun (2024)
Meh.
I'm on episode four. The show just about continues to hold my attention. The main character, Blackthorne drives me to despair. A thoroughly unlikeable prat whose actions and attitude would more likely get him killed in the Japan of that era. The dialogue doesn't feel authentic either, and makes it difficult to remain immersed in the story world.
I could easily quit this show, but I will persevere for another episode and maybe even trudge through to the bitter end, which judging by other reviews, doesn't sound too promising.
For me, the Korean drama "Alchemy of souls " was far superior, even if it isn't quite comparing the same genre.
Fight Club (1999)
Went from bad to worse
Started off all right. Then gathered speed as it hurtled downhill at a fantastic pace. Pretentious. Overbearing. Drawn out. Not sure why I gave it 3 starts and not 1. Probably because I stuck it through to the bitter, bitter end, mire than I've done with some other movies. So, yes. There are worse movies out there. Knowing the twist before hand may have diminished the return, but I thought this movie was dependent on that twist for its success. While a good twist is a positive, it shouldn't define the movie. Things like a plausible plot kinda help. I want to believe in the world, not suffer through an outrageous metaphor.

Stretches Credibility
Just finished episode three. It's getting worse, not better. Character behaviour borders on the non sensical at times and I'm at a loss for some of the Character motivations.
Is the.main male character dumb? The female main character seems to be some sort of highly trained agent specialising in covert ops, so much so it is implausible. Perhaps some twist will justify her skill set in a later episode, but I doubt it somehow.
I can't understand the high rating for this show. Alchemy of Souls was far better as was Hotel Del Luna.
I'd be happy to be proved wrong, with more realistic plotting, clear motivations and sensible behaviour.
Ifthis show makes me cry, if will be a result if frustration.
Mayor of Kingstown: The Lie of the Truth (2022)
Implausible and daft
Excellent series until this daft episode. Please. Give me something to believe in. There is no way that any maximum security prison would allow their systems to collapse with such ease. I'm all on for dramatic licence, but this? Other reviews have summed the worst flaws up - inmates are crack shots, guards are incompetent, inmates get ridiculous access to assault weapons, the coincidence of Milo being in the same area as the crips leader, and by now, Mother Mcluskey is driving me me so far up the wall and I'm almost hoping someone puts a cap in her ass soon. I could forgive some of the other extremes in previous episodes, but this one sacked like a hoover (or a Dyson, if that's your thing).
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Meh
Struggled with this. Interest dwindled with each episode. So soapy I could wash my hands. Or the dishes. Annoying characters, poor dialogue, largely implausible plot. Dumbed down daytime TV level.
