Ambulance (2022)
Horribly written
So poorly written as if by someone who doesn't know or care about any details or reality.. my wife and I were laughing within minutes with how utterly stupidly the story line played out. Dozens of impossible scenarios. Embarrassing for all involved. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Boring as in a snooze fest
As a lifetime Treker, who has literally seen every episode of every show and certainly every movie, I hoped for so much more. I understand that they have to introduce all of the characters in the first episode, but come on. Couldn't you at least have had something fun and exciting going on? Boring, boring, boring.
Space Force: Proportionate Response (2020)
To balance the obviously biased review
The above CL review is so obviously written by an insider. There is almost nothing brilliant or intellectual about this series and insulting those who don't like it by questioning their intelligence is sophomoric. I would argue the opposite position in a heartbeat. The show has an amazing and talented array of actors who are wasted with some of the worst writing in comedic history. The budget was obviously spent on the actors and sets rather than quality writing. I'm hoping that Steve Carell is being listed as one of the writers as a courtesy, otherwise he should stay on the other side of the lens.
Space Force: It's Good to Be Back on the Moon (2020)
After Conjugal visit this was refreshing
The last episode was so bad we questioned whether to continue with the series. This episode was relatively good. Given the quality of the actors we expect more, but this one actually made us laugh a few times.
Space Force: Conjugal Visit (2020)
Dribble
This was a horrible episode clearly written so that certain named actors received contractually obligated screen time. If you'd like to have an open relationship with your spouse, this episode is for you. Otherwise, a total wasted of time.
The King's Man (2021)
Absolutely horribly written movie
Just horrible. I can't believe it has an average rating over 5.0. It doesn't deserve it. It's hard to remember a movie with more major continuity failures, irrelevant scenes, and just poor writing. I wouldn't recommend this movie to my worst enemy. Ugh.
The Guilty (2021)
Frustrating, unrealistic dialogue and action, boring
My title says it all. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. We both found it frustrating, with unrealistic dialogue and action - or lack thereof, and quite boring.
Flashpoint: Keep the Peace: Part 1 (2012)
Good episode
But the worst wedding vows of all time. So unrealistic.
Flashpoint: Fit for Duty (2012)
The psychologist was over the top
We really disliked the role of the psychologist. Not sure if it was the acting, directing, or the writing but we were happy when this episode ended. Everyone else was great.
ZeroZeroZero: En el Mismo Camino (2020)
The worst episode
You can completely skip this episode and miss nothing! I gave it a 4 because it was well done. But the storyline was monotonous and nearly meaningless. Not worth the time invested in watching it.
Loki (2021)
I simply don't understand the positive reviews
My 18 year old son and I agree - poor story, poor writing, questionable directing. We have NO idea why this show rates so high. Too many votes to be fake, but wow, the viewing audience clearly doesn't mind chaotic, illogical story lines that have no internal consistency with yet another timeline garbled mess and yet more layers of all-powerful beings.
The First: Two Portraits (2018)
Positive reviews must be connected to the show
Don't get me wrong, it's well done. But a horrible, dark, depressing story with no "moral" . . . Have to disagree with those calling it beautiful. It's VERY obvious why there are only a couple of hundred reviews and it got cancelled. It was all in the story writing.
The First (2018)
Dark and dreary
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. But it is done well. Great acting and directing and cinematography. But the story is slow and painful to slog through. Yes. It's a slog.
Virgin River: Where There's Smoke... (2021)
What?
We both looked at each other and said, "is this the same show?" Maybe different writers and directors? Flat, disjointed, uneventful. An episode that need not exist. The 7.7 rating average must include all family and crew so far as the episode does not warrant the many tens for the average to be this high . . . Here's hoping it's an abberation and not what the rest of the season holds.
Loki: Lamentis (2021)
MEH is right
Great CGI. Weak story and dialogue. I'm sorry, but I find the very early and plentiful "10" ratings to be surprisingly similarly written and almost professional sounding - if you know what I mean. I'm very skeptical . . . The 1's and 2's are also questionable. This episode makes me not care whether I see another. A solid 5.
New Amsterdam: Death Begins in Radiology (2021)
WHY do they mix the music so loudly!
They used to be horrible with loud drums, then toned them down, then this episode they crank the music so you can't hear them speaking. Maddening.
Grey's Anatomy: In My Life (2021)
Horrible, creepy, not even worth fast forwarding
Horrible, creepy, not even worth fast forwarding. We found nothing redeeming about this episode. Well, it was visually well directed. That's it.
The Goldfinch (2019)
Well acted, poignant, but empty in the end
This is a very well acted, well produced, and well directed movie. So why the five rating? Because the storyline itself was mediocre throughout most of the movie and then ended up empty. I would not recommend this movie to almost anyone. Several story threads in the movie could have been deleted without in any way negatively affecting the outcome. And there were a couple of continuity problems that really stood out that anyone who is thinking will find frustrating to see. Those faults might lie with the editor. I won't mention them here because I don't want to spoil anything. But when you see them, you will know. They should have deviated more strongly from the novel in order to end up with a story that felt compelling.
Tenet (2020)
Just OK - poor sound editing, mediocre acting and storyline
John Washington, as an actor, has a lot of potential I believe. However, in too many scenes in this movie he looked and sounded like he was just reading lines. That's disappointing for a movie of this stature. The sound editing was also subpar, admittedly based on the fact that oftentimes in the movie characters are wearing masks. However the dialogue channel relative to the special effects really needs to be increased. Finally, the storyline while fun and provocative, was more than confusing. Multiple times it was illogical and broke with its own internal rules and conventions. I have no problems with movies that create a "new universe" with new rules, but when they then break those rules as they do in this movie, it's frustrating at best. I would not recommend this movie to most people.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
A solid 5 or maybe lower
Well acted - decent visuals. Everything else was slow, cliche, hackneyed. There is nothing in this movie that you haven't already seen. You'd think they could have included at least one unique idea or sub-plot - but no. Do I regret watching it? No. Would I ever watch it again? No way. Would I recommend it to anyone else? Not if I liked them.
Away (2020)
It's not horrible, but close
All of the negative reviews are spot on. One additional point, it gets sappier and more hackneyed with each episode. Only watch if you like predictable melodrama.
Uncut Gems (2019)
Horrible sound editing, just horrible
I can't imagine what is wrong with the sound editors who produced this chaotic cacophony of a movie. Only suitable for unthinking individuals with ADHD who can't stay focused without sensory overload. Garbage. Avoid.
Clemency (2019)
A dark and dreary biopic with little takeaway
I'm very disappointed across the board. The acting was pretty good. Very good at times. But so much of the movie's "energy" was negative and dark. I understand that it was intended as a major dose of reality. But many opportunities were missed to round out the story and to provide valuable takeaways. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone except perhaps for capital punishment activists.
Grey's Anatomy: Leave a Light On (2020)
Truly the worst episode ever
If you care about the show then don't watch this episode. Total disaster.
A Scanner Darkly (2006)
Mostly a boring horrible empty story
Must have been easy to film. The conversion to faux animation served very little purpose as did the storyline. Hard to imagine how this got produced.
