Young Sheldon (2017)
You can compare the "Young Sheldon" sitcom to a succesfull basketball team. They both get succes through good tactics, chemistry executed by talented players.
The concept of a "typical" American family placed around a main character with exceptional characteristics isn't something we haven't seen before.
The "church loving" mother, the lazy "sports crazy" father, the "rebel" teen brother, the street smart "princess" sister, the naughty grandma are all characters wherefore you can reckonise similar examples in all those other sitcoms based around family life.
The same goes for the comedy sidekicks like Billy the "chicken lovin" dumbass and the "social akward" genius professor Dr. John sturgis.
But every basketball team has players Who play on a basketballcourt with a basketball, but some teams have better players, better chemistry and a better tactical plan wich make them more attractive to watch.
Same goes for "Young Sheldon" it's not that the whole succes is build around one character.
If you talk to fans you notice they all have different favorites, but nobody they hate.
And that all the actors and crew like the product they make episode after episode, and if you see shot from "behind the scenes" you immeadiatly notice they al have a lot of fun together and act like one "Big family".
Wich clearly has a positive influence on the quality of "Young Sheldon".
Afcourse there will be a day where "young Sheldon" isn't young anymore, so let's hope it will be a fun ride untill that moment arrives.
Get Out (2017)
A good Horror movie
Many consider the "horror" genre the waist dump of the movie scène, and i have to admit that entertaining people with fear in a movie is considert the easiest way to keep those eyes on the screen. Wich has resulted in a lot of predictable movies with no depth in the story or the characters.
But that doesn't mean that a movie can't be predictable, and that "depth" garantees a good movie.
That's why i have the most respect for directors who do succeed to create a good and entertaining movie in this genre.
Jordan Peele obviously is a very creative mind, and is the type of director that will have a whole genre named after him in the future. Although i'm not doing him right by saying that hé is a mix of Quentin Tarantino and Spike Lee but the truth is those names popped in my head now i have seen two movies that hé directed.
I heard good things about "Get Out" and it's indeed a refreshing experience. I like the way how hé plays with your expectations, and although you pretty early get the feeling that you know where this is going, it does not hurt the entertainment value of the movie.
Also i was happy to see that Peele didn't made the "beginners" mistake of over doing it with blood and gore, more isn't always better.
Get Out did not dissapoint!!But after hearing so many compliments and good words on forehand i really expected more and it did also didn't surprise me when i'm honest.
If this has to do that people say all these compliments with the Horror genre in the back of there minds, or because that they are positively surprised seeing such good movie from the hands of a beginning director they only know from the comedy series "Key and Peele" is something i don't know.
And maybe it has to do with the fact that i already saw later work from Peele and i know where hé is capabele off making me expecting more
One thing is sure me not being surprised does not influence the fact that "Get Out" i a very good Horror movie, made by somebody where we are going to hear and see much more entertaining and innovative movies from in the future. And it's not a spoiler when i say that it felt good to finally see a Horror movie where the black guy isn't the first one who dies!!
Publieke werken (2015)
Loved this movie!!
Great movie!! My favorite part is when, at a funeral, you see a graveyard worker pulling a blanket from a caskit. Why i like this part so much you ask? Well maybe the fact that the person acting as graveyard worker is ME. But it's not a bad movie in general but not for brood audience cause it's a historical drama.
