Brilliant

Even if you're not a fan of the show's actors, you've got to respect this idea of maximising on a storyline. The interaction between a main and supporting character of the original show was really endearing, and while it wasn't technically part of the main story, it helped to add an element of interest to a (not-very-nice) main character.

I like this method of expanding the background story and providing a better understanding of a character's behavior and the reasoning behind their actions.

I actually found this mini-series by accident, as it wasn't marketed along with the main show. The good thing about that was it felt more like a nice treat/gift received while waiting for the second series of the main show to start.

Highly recommended.

I never review but...

This is a brilliant show - not sure how they got it so right, but they did. The storyline, the casting and the production quality are all so impressive. I mostly watch Western and Nollywood, but hadn't watched a Korean show before this one so I wasn't sure what to expect. Oh my goodness, I'm hooked. Watch it, WATCH IT.

Who are these actors and where have they been all my life?

Lee Dong-Wook, Kim Sang Bum, (the mini-series: Tale of the Nine Tailed: An Unfinished Story was too cute), Kim Yong Ji, Hwang Hee, Ahn Gil-Gang and Jung Si Yul are now my favourite actors.

(Thank You So MUCH Amazon Prime, more of these types of shows please)

I loved this so much

This kind of tv is where it's at. Awe-inspiring stories about real people doing things that hugely benefit EVERYONE - not the usual nonsense about some stupid organisation that thinks they are in charge and have all the answers or someone blowing things up and killing people to save THEIR family. This was about a good person looking for ways to give random people a better quality of life: emotionally and financially. He asked for nothing in return other than for people to fulfil their potential. For me, it doesn't get better than this. Thank you to the cast and everyone involved. You all made my day.

Love It

Brilliantly complicated dance routine that works on every level - some of the dancers are at the very top of their game. The choreographer was Gil Duldulao - I looked him up after watching the video for the hundredth time. I've never heard of him before now. I find it so strange that choreographers and dancers don't really become famous - even though they make up a large part of the entertainment factor for any music video / performance. I couldn't find ANY credits for any of the dancers for that music video; it's like they can't be hired for more work unless one can find out exactly which agency / dance group they belong to. Very strange situation that they are in..

Pretty Good Actually

Reasons why this film is not getting full stars

I'm not a Christian to be honest, but I do realise that some people need something to believe in so I am not going to knock anybody's faith.

It is full of plot holes, has a very sparse script and the story doesn't flow from scene to scene. In some parts, it feels more like watching the synopsis of a film or a very long trailer for a film

I've viewed a huge number of very low budget movies. This does have a 'get your friends and family together and shoot a movie'feel....I'm assuming that the budget for the movie was sourced in a similar way.

Some characters just appeared without any explanation: were they supposed to be angels..or...?

Other characters just seemed redundant (the two women on the stoop...what story did they tell?)

The set for the movie felt very 'lets do it over at your house'

Okay....having said all of that

* The acting was very decent * They used every penny for as much as they could * The message is a good one, * the story is something that a lot of people all over the world will be able to relate to,

I think we all need to watch more of these down to earth films once in a while: no explosions, no cgi, no sound effects, no loud music, no professional make up artists and hair stylists and wardrobe stylists,no graphic depictions of sex and blood and guts flying everywhere. It feels more alive somehow.

8/10 is for effort - an effort was made here and that should be commended. I enjoyed the film, its about domestic violence (although it could be related to a lot of other things)and the choices people make along their journey in life.

Ironside (2013)

erm...not really...
5 December 2014
Just watched a couple of episodes - I have to say that the original Ironsidewas way better.

It was clever without relying on the fine looks of the actors. The original Ironside was cool and held my interest to the end of each episode, this updated version just does not...at all. I think the producers were attempting to do 'gritty', fast-paced and pretty - all at the same time. I was bored and literally switched off a number of times. I only recommend this to people who primarily watch TV to see actors with good looks. Otherwise this is a poor knock-off version of the original. Blair Underwood is far too good looking, too toned and too suave to play this role.
