Game Changer: The Official Cast Recording (2021)
Never too late...
I am, as quite often, late to the party, only now watching (binging like crazy-even) GameChanger. But this episode made my brain fuzz in a way not much does anymore nowadays.
It was such an amazing mix of creativity, humor and just goshdarn skills that I was perplexed and awestruck time and time again. A darn ride (luckilly the train waits for the returntrip) of emotions and small storylines coming together in a wonderful way. Most definitely a work of art.
It is never too late to clear the name of Gladys. It is never too late to start a new study. It is never too late to turn away from evil. And it is never too late to start watching and loving GameChanger!
Waterboys (2016)
Wirth watching, albeit not too surprising.
Waterboys. The advantage of having a cinema-subscription is you watch movies you wouldn't normally. This is one of those. I went in without any preconceptions or ideas about what I was going to see, other than the 2nd half of the trailer, as I saw that one time when I came in late for another film.
The story, though not too surprising, is believable, made more so by the okay acting. Some nice advertisement for Edinburgh in this picture as well, but it does fit. The pace of the story is good, and the character-development seems natural. But what really carries this movie is the music.
Of course The Waterboys have a nice repertoire of songs that lend themselves well for this kind of stories, but the correct usage of volume makes it all the more powerful.
All in all, worth watching, not worth an Oscar. ;)
Love & Friendship (2016)
Not bored for one minute
One of the huge advantages of having a subscription to the cinema, is that every now and then you go watch a movie you wouldn't do otherwise, and get pleasantly surprised. As I was tonight.
I was the only men in the room, but boy, I think a lot of men could benefit from watching this movie. Based on the novella "Lady Susan" by Jane Austen, this is a nice look into women in the England at the turn of the 18th century. And very maybe into women nowadays as well. ;) I would describe this to be a costume comedy. Seriously, I have seen some marvellous costumes and dresses tonight. And I laughed often as well. The look is one of a typical GB Costume Drama, but looks can be deceiving.
Kate Beckinsale, the lead, does a splendid job here, but in my humble opinion the best acting is done by Tom Bennet. Seeing is believing, but he really amazed me.
