The King and I (1999)
Praising this very well beautiful animation work
Despite that this storyline is against the history origin and a slight different remake version of both musical and live-action 1956 film adaptations until this animated remake film received lots of bad reviews, as a critic, I just felt like praising this film's animation whether it is Disney-like or not. So if you are into animation and drawing body proportions and movements, at least this movie is enjoyable and I love this happy ending where nobody died and they turn this animated adaptation into a fairy tale with that kind of happy endings where Tuptim and the Prince lived happily ever after and got married and the King lived instead of dying of illness.
I love the reflection and animation effects and as well as the 3D-like hot air balloon which I thought it looks cel-shaded computer-like animation since it moves smoothly like it was 3D computer animated and looking cel-shaded.
I love all of the background settings details and they look very well rendered.
If you don't like this movie, don't unless if you are into happy endings and into animation and stuff.
VeggieTales in the House (2014)
This show is a good cartoon inspiring series
These episodes are pretty good so far and at least I got used to redesigns which inspired me to make my own cartoon human style in which I mix 3 or 4 styles into 1 and it was like a combination of "Zig and Sharko", "Tuff Puppy", "Fairly Oddparents", "Powerpuff Girls" and "Dexter's Laboratory" styles. Once I did one human style try on myself and now the fans of Veggie Tales like my new human style so they ask me to draw them in my style with their favorite Veggie Tales characters in redesign forms as their veggie partners.
I am starting to love that show and I love how animation turn out well with all the animation texture, lighting, shading, shadowing, overlapping on Petunia's long hair which looks pretty difficult to animate and I also how in one of the episode make the tea pot look realistic and shiny like from live action if you happen to saw one. This animation turns out great and inspiring. In my animation classes including Storyboarding, character development and more, my teachers love the VTitH-like human style on my characters and Veggie Tales redesigns drawings and they said this human character style I had created and even the Veggie Tales redesign looks are very appealing.
So if you are into animation and such, well, it's hard to explain and this series on Netflix is not bad at all. They are very enjoyable and to study animation, animating texture, lighting and more.
