Powder (1995)

The message is quite clear for all of us........
2 November 2005
A story that encapsulates where we as a race are heading for a very bad outcome indeed. As clearly stated in the film by Jeff Goldblum's character, " when technology surpasses humanity". We as a species are in severe danger and crisis over how we perceive what our lives are truly about. We are losing our humanity by advancements in our technology that serve only to relieve us of harnessing our one true purpose that makes us unique within our humanity........Choice. The film also shows that a pure and unique individual is not accepted within those who are already lost of their own humanity. I find myself relating to 'powder' in many ways, albeit minus his physical and other obvious electrical abilities. But I do understand his humanity and choice to make humane decisions that do affect all of us. And his feeling of isolation and not 'fitting in' to his fellow kind. Hopefully one day we can be at a point where our humanity will rise above our technological demands, otherwise we are on a roller-coaster ride to self destruction. Good film, good message.

What!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
What was all the fuss about?!!

OK its low budget and from a company that still has much to learn. This was just plain awful. Nothing new or original, seen it all before. The plot ( yawn ) the fights ( OK, but zzzzzzzzzz ), I was wondering if it would ever end, too long. Best bits if I really had to choose....the beginning fights at the fight club and when Buddah's head came crashing down on wheelchair/vibrator voice guy and poor old George!! Oh and bad guy sticking himself with half a dozen syringes - when you just thought for a brief moment this guy may just turn into something bigger than the expression on Buddah's face! Oh well nobody else has anything to worry about from this effort. Hell Keanu Reeves could kick these guys asses. In another world that is....the REAL WORLD. Hmmm, could be the making of a good film there. Nah already been done.

best of the series?!
24 June 2005
So this was the darkest of the franchise then?! I think not. The film flowed nicely, good effects etc,. The acting.....now, lets put it like this. I saw better performances in Team America!! I kept looking for the strings during the Anny/Padme scenes!! The only problem with these Star Wars films....is George Lucas. Ever read the books? Better stories, and definitely darker. Why don't we get to see Luke and Leia fight each other? Leia a stronger Jedi? Want to know more? Read the books, see what is missing, better characters, better stories.

For me, the best of the movie spin-offs....Empire Strikes Back.

Now if a certain director by the name of Spielberg got to make these films.............!!!!

Spoox.
